Navy Trooper Fenson Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 (edited) Hi i am wondering if the AT AP is a movie or TCW vehicle. I do not know. Dino It´s Revenge of the Sith, seeing the Commander Gree design and that there is a Wookie Warrior. Don´t like this walker, way to big and complicated in its design for a middle-class vehicle (even in-universe it has bad design, it needs the middle leg to fire the main cannon and would fall over without it in parked mode). I´m curios how they are releasing the blue AOTC clone (assuming it wasn´t false info) now that they apparently still make a ROTS wave for the canceled 3D Re-Release. Moexy Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 The AT-AP looks almost exactly the same as the previous version, only new detail are the special green colored bricks. Com Gree and the wookiee look good. I recently bought the old version :S and it's a nice vehicle, maybe I'll buy the new one or just Bricklink the figs. The old version can perfectly stand on it's two legs, the third one is just a playfeature when you "fire" the large canon. Quote
Lobot Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 The wookie looks really cute Oddly I quite like this set, I'm not sure why but it has something about it.... However, it seems a strange choice to fabricate if this isn't real, I guess we'll know in a couple of hours. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Hm.....another remake. However, I didn't get the first version, so I'll definitely be picking this one up. The minifigs look fantastic, too! I would love to see more locations/scenes as sets, though. Quote
Fives Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 That new Wookiee mold is what I've been wanting for a long time! This means Chewie will get a comp, tee redesign, which has been necessary for the past couple years. Also, ROTS Gree looks pretty cool. Otherwise, the set is pretty boring. It would have been better if it were a treehouse or a catamaran. Oh well. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I stand corrected. FBTB and TBB both announced it on their blogs with more details, right after the 11:00 scheduled time for the unveiling. March 2014 release ( ), $69.99, 717 pieces. Quote

Meh. $70 is not worth it for me at least, but I guess it's okay for 717 pieces? I don't know. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 You got the 2014 topic ready? It's been ready for a week. I'm moving it now. Quote
CM4Sci Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Yay, 2014 thread! I was confused for a sec, the ATAP post was the latest. Good to see this out. -Sci Quote
Tariq j Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Can't wait to see new the new sets the at-ap looks very nice. Quote
Oky Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 i am wondering if the AT AP is a movie or TCW vehicle. I do not know. I'm pretty sure Lego isn't making CW sets anymore now that the show has been cancelled. Like Fenson said, this is based on the Battle of Kashyyyk from Episode III. Quote

Wow I wasn't aware they stopped them. That must explain why they only had one CW set in the summer wave of sets. Quote
Faefrost Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 It doesn't look like a bad set, assuming it's not grossly overpriced. It's just kinda wildly unsexy for a big ComicCon reveal? I mean it's not like it's an iconic vehicle or scene. Most people have to stick in the DVD and freeze frame to confirm that it is in fact in the movie. It was background scenery and not a hero or villain vehicle or plot device? As I said a strange choice for such a public forum. It must have been the only set they had ready to show off? I'm pretty sure Lego isn't making CW sets anymore now that the show has been cancelled. Like Fenson said, this is based on the Battle of Kashyyyk from Episode III. We assume they have stopped making CW sets. But that may or may not be true. TCW is cancelled, but it is safe to assume that the remaining finished story arcs will be released in some big public manner. Probably as a lead in to the new Rebels show. So we may see a few sets based on or tied in with the release of those stories, be it DVD TV movie whatever. In much the same way that we have Yoda Chronicles or SWTOR sets today. That tends to be a fairly common Lucasfilms marketing practice which Lego goes along with. Quote

It was background scenery and not a hero or villain vehicle or plot device? I agree. That was one of the reasons I was so skeptical that this was even real. The last two SDCCs have seen the unveiling of iconic, much-demanded sets: the updated TIE/ln, the Queen Amidala minifig, and the Rancor (with its pit). The concept itself of the AT-AP (as both a set and a vehicle in the saga) is rather 'meh'. Quote
pranas Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Bleh, that's one ugly set! No fault to LEGO though, they actually did a good job capturing it. The vehicle design itself is ugly, and that's all Lucasfilm's fault. $70 seems really steep for this, so it's an easy pass. But I really want that Wookiee warrior fig! Maybe we'll get a Wookiee warrior battle pack this winter? Whenever LEGO makes a new mold like this, they seem to love using it as much as possible, so fingers crossed. Battle packs do happen in winter waves, right? As much as I'm not digging this one set, I'm happy that it looks like LEGO is going ahead with their Episode III set plans, despite the fact the 3D version got canned. If they are, I'm just hoping they try to give us some stuff that hasn't been covered in the Clone Wars line. Quote
commanderneyo Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I'm probably going to be the only one to say this, but in my honest opinion, I find this reveal much more exciting than the last two years have been. Personal preference of course, as I mainly collect Prequel Trilogy/The Clone Wars sets. I never got the original AT-AP set, so I'm very happy they're making a new one, great that we're finally getting a Phase II Commander Gree mini-figure as well and the new Wookiee mold looks great! I do wish we got something more exciting than more Separatist Droids, but at the same time there's not much else to choose from in those scenes. Just throwing in my two cents. Quote
The Joker1 Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 It sure looks pretty neat but $70 (which will be at least £50/60) Is far too high for something like that. Never mind im sure we will see a good variety of SW sets over the next little while. Quote
Darth Nader Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 It pretty much looks like the 2008 version except has some more detail that can be added by simply applying the pieces used for detailing. The two new figs look cool, but I'll probably get them on bricklink. Great set for those who missed out on the '08 version, just not worth $70. Quote
Chills Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I also missed out on the first AT-PT and have been waiting for a new one. This set looks pretty cool, and I really like the Wookie warrior. $70 seems steep at first, but this set looks bigger than the 2008 version. The piece count is nice for the price. I'll probably pick one up for my collection. Quote
The Legonater Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I never picked up the original AT-AP, so I suppose I might get this one, but it's unlikely. The only thing that really appeals to me here is Gree and the new Wookiee. The proportions on Gree's helmet - notably the eye sockets - seem really off, though. I hope this isn't the best LEGO SW has to offer next wave. If so, I guess it'll just be more money to devote to LotR. Quote

It was background scenery and not a hero or villain vehicle or plot device? As I said a strange choice for such a public forum. It must have been the only set they had ready to show off? Agreed. I'm very disappointed with this one-set-reveal-per-theme thing they seem to be doing this year. In the Super Heroes set, they at least revealed a new major and highly demanded character, the Flash. In this set however, there isn't even a named character except for Gree, who admittedly is pretty cool, but not enough to wow the crowd. Very disappointing, but I guess it's better than nothing. We assume they have stopped making CW sets. But that may or may not be true. That tends to be a fairly common Lucasfilms marketing practice which Lego goes along with. True, I guess that's possible, but I wouldn't expect more than one more wave of CW sets since they will soon have to focus on making sets based on Rebels. If they do more Ep 3 sets I really would love to get a Yoda vs Sidious set (similar to The Arrest of Palpatine). Wouldn't that be exactly like Palpatine's Arrest, just with a lot less minifigs? Or are you referring to their duel inside the Senate room? In that case, I don't see how that would be anything like the Arrest set since it would just be a bunch of those flying saucer things. I'm hoping for a new movie-style Luminara, but this isn't the place to discuss wishlists. Quote
ISDAvenger Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 That is a cool set....NOT! Great job with another rehash Lego. What is next, another X-Wing? What a disappointment....although the Wookie is cool, but that is all. Quote
legocaptainrexfan Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I do hope that Lego puts holes in the phase 2 helmet so we can put range finders and visors on them also it could be a clue suggesting a phase 2 commander Cody is going to appear? Quote
UnknownClone Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Seriously why so much negativity towards this, people have been whining about ep.3 sets for awhile they finally get one and cry about it? Why?!?! It is a good looking set, sure it's a remake but that's all ep.3 sets would be with few exceptions. I am definitely buying 1 or 2 of these I'd buy it just for the figures but I also like the AT-AP so that's my main reason for planning to buy it Quote
