Thank you TWP for posting the pictures!

Generally spoken this seems to be a very good wave to me. Since it contains a nice selection of many iconic OT sets, it's very good for people to start a collection. I consider it to be a good move on the part of the license contractors that they chose those memorable items and minifigs. Not owning any set from before 2007 my shopping list is fairly long.

In my opinion, the cantina is the biggest winner of the wave. It contains a bit of everything any SW fan does like. Exotic aliens, a flashy vehicle, a big animal/beast, a memorable place/scenery where the original story took place in diorama style and more general, a few (new) minifigs that are and will remain hard to get by other means.

Altough the ISD seems to be a deal smaller than the previous one, it comes a close second, i think. The characterisitc dagger shape, clear design features and minifigs make it a very attractive set to own. No collection can be considered complete without an ISD. I miss the bridge as a playable interior section. Thus the main hull has to do what usually is on the bridge. But the pics of the interior we have seen as of yet look quite appealing to me.

The B-Wing is the last Rebel Alliance Fighter in system scale that we didn't get since 2006. Therefore i'd like to add it to my collection. The overall design is good altough Hrafnblod stands correct.

These are the sets i will buy for sure. Cantina and the ISD probably more than once. The rest will be a question of spontaneous decision after i have seen the sets in real life. However, being a resident of Germany, i will require a big deal of patience. As usual, the price tag here will be even more increased for no reason. Not wanting to be dumbed down and ripped off, i will have to wait for serious sales of 20+% off.

Hi

are those new set avaiable for May the 4th sales? I am going to buy most of them but would like to kombine it to get the Revan fig.

When are they available in the EU?

It's just to show both expressions on heads with dual face prints.

I thought something like that, but I think it is very misleading. It looks like there are much more figs in the sets now. And would you then be able to claim another fig, as it says you get one extra, when you have bought a set?

Love the look of these sets even more now, especially Mos Eisley Cantina and the Imperial Star Destroyer.

Edit: Does anyone know when we will find out about the Toys R Us exclusive?

Hi Dino, it's a good question, but Amazon UK already have them listed as being available in '1-2 months'. The Mos Eisley set looks like an instant classic, and seems like great deal even at RRP

It's a very strong wave and I have no reservations about buying every set.

That said, the AT-AT...well, we deserved more, right? The smaller size (and yet significantly greater piece count...?) and the lack of an interior are odd design choices. I would have expected a troop storage area and space for a speeder bike - the back third is empty again. That said, the back third appears to be accessible by lifting the plates so has some, seemingly, straightforward modding potential.

Annoys me that the snow troopers don't have printed legs, feels like lego being cheap

The Cantina, Snowspeeder, AT-AT, B-Wing, and Star Destroyer are all definite "gets" for me. I can skip the Ghosts and Jek-14 sets.

I have to admit that this wave is a lot more desirable than many others (specially because of being OT heavy), however they are mostly remakes that I already have, thats why I will not be buying anyone.

The walkers, in general, have been either getting smaller or not a lot bigger but increasing piece size by a lot. If the AT-TE and AT-AP are any indication we'll have an incredibly sturdy incarnation of the AT-AT (though I don't really know how sturdy or flimsy the last versions were, never bought the previous ones- I just know the newest AT-TE and AT-AP are huge structural improvements over my older ones). Lack of interior does kind of suck, though. But that seems to be coming with that sturdiness, there's virtually nowhere to put a decent number of troops in the AT-TE. Just a few in the very back.

Pretty sure they're not due out 'til August.

I still prefer the look of the first AT-AT from 2003. The problem I have with the new version is that while the body is smaller than previous models, the head is still the same size which makes the overall model look too disproportioned.

I'm not sure about the new AT-AT, it does seem to be the weakest design of the OT sets in the 2014 wave. It's clearly an improvement on 8129, but that's not difficult! :hmpf_bad: I'll be interested to see where the extra 300 parts have been used, as it looks a similar size, but it does have a few extra details which will account for some of them. I'm really impressed by the new Star Destroyer though, that's on my shopping list.

1000th post!

The AT-AT is pretty disappointing. It's smaller than ever.

Considerably smaller or just a little bit? I need to buy an AT AT since I have never bought any of the previous versions so far. Wondering whether to get this one or not? Not sure if Lego will release another one in the future considering that it may not feature in future films..

Am I the only one who thinks the new B-wing is worse than the previous one? Especially the laser(ion?) cannons at the tips of the S-foils.

Completely agree! The only reason I'll pick it up will be for the minifigs and any new parts...but otherwise the previous minifig scale was a much better representation, and frankly I'd hoped the build techniques from the UCS B-Wing (specifically the 'mirroring' of the vertical wing) would be put to use here.

My biggest disappointment in this one? Well besides that it's still asymmetric/studs one way, but the S-foil wings should fold flush against the vertical wing when stowed. There's a gigantic gap now! Frankly this way it looks like the original b-wing release way back when. That's not good.

I say get one, the size is a little smaller than it was before but the model is perfect for a good MOD.

I concur with your assessment of the new B-Wing. The fighter is ugly to begin with, but that is part of it's charm and gives it some character. The exposed plate bottoms on one side is probably the worst part.

I have to agree what everyone else is saying about the new B-Wing. It has good figures but has a mediocre design with no stand like the 2006 version had, which was much better IMO. By the way, can someone remind me what the price and piece count of the new B-Wing is?

I agree with everyone the new B-wing is a bit of a let down with the wings/s foils. But it is still a must buy for me along with everything from this wave. So i think i will MOD the new B-wing with parts from the my 2006 B-wing and try to use some of the build style of the UCS set.

Why not? I think OT sets will always be popular.

I'm surprised they stuck with that same old narrow cockpit on the B wing? It would have looked much better with the printed Jedi Interceptor canopy. That alone might have been enough to overcome some other flaws.

Excited most about the at-at. It is bigger than the last design. Please get your facts straight or say that you are not referring to 8129 when you say it is smaller in size.

We know that it's a little bigger than the 8129 version, but we are disappointed in the fact that it's way too small for its piece count. The 2010 version has about 810 pieces, while this set has 1137 pieces, so you'd expect it to be a lot bigger, but somehow it ended up barely bigger. Also nothing is really flashing from the minifig selection, nothing is really standing out either, making it an underwhelming set.

Actually not a bad idea, though not one I'd thought of. The Jedi Interceptor canopy feels really "big" to me though, might necessitate scaling the model up slightly overall.

I think that's been something of a trend for Lego in general lately. As I mentioned before, the newest AT-TE, and the AT-AP. There's a lot more pieces going into the basic structural integrity these days from what I'm seeing.
