Chills Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 The new AT-AT looks like it's head is too big in proportion to the body, and I'm also not a fan of the Snowie's backpack. However, it still looks like a pretty cool set, overall, so I'll be buying one. I was hoping the ISD would be bigger, especially at that price, but the minifigs look just outstanding so this will be another purchase for me. Come on TLG, release these in the US! Quote
-Horizon- Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Does an officer really need printed legs? They're just plain pants. The other minifigs have armor or pockets or armor and a waist cape. I think it would make him look better if he had a "Skirt" type printing on his legs, as seen below. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I think it would make him look better if he had a "Skirt" type printing on his legs, as seen below. [snip] That's more of a high belt with his shirt extending just below the waist. On the 'real' officer, it just looks longer because the boots are high. Really, the boots are the only distinctive feature of the legs, and none of the other minifigs have boots printed. Quote
The Executive Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 I think the new snow trooper molded helmets are TLG attempt to draw attention away from the horrid design of the AT-AT. Quote

And the pants are jodhpurs, tight lower leg so they tuck into the boots and flare out at the top. I don't see how TLG could make a printed version of these. Quote
Fives Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Too much printing where its not really needed just makes figs look messy. The new Officer looks great as is. I'm not completely sold on the new Vader. While I love the new printing and head, I feel that the helmet/mask has become too outdated in comparison to some of the more elaborate, detailed molds TLG is using. It just feels strange when you know that the Bith figs are likely going to stand taller than Vader. Feels weird. Quote
Csacsa234 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Sorry for interrupting the Officer discussion, but I'd like to ask if somebody know anything about the old Han and Luke that appears on the pictures of the Cantina. There are a few early reviews and none of them mention these figures, will they be exclusive in certain countries? Sorry if it was discussed I just can't seem to find any info about this. Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Does an officer really need printed legs? They're just plain pants. The other minifigs have armor or pockets or armor and a waist cape. Way I see it - we have all the plain leg parts we could ever use, in fact we could start burning them and still have billions... ...but we don't have that leg piece printed. I'll always take new parts and the options they bring over penny pinching in a £120 set. Give people the choices and bricklink will sort it all out, those that want plain pieces can buy from the rest of us! Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 Way I see it - we have all the plain leg parts we could ever use, in fact we could start burning them and still have billions... ...but we don't have that leg piece printed. But that's an unfair assumption for TLG to make for the many consumers who don't have the substitute piece. It would be unfair for them if TLG decided, "We think the average person already has this piece so we're going to go with this other option even though it doesn't look as good so that we can have some variety." It'd be like selling an incomplete set. Quote
dsoffers Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 As promised, the ISD parts list: (Click for full size.) Quote
vriverajr3 Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 (edited) Not sure if any of you have seen this yet, but here you guys go he said we will have more reviews of the new sets up soon as well Edited May 13, 2014 by vriverajr3 Quote
rollermonkey Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 (edited) If they don't leg print the officer legs, they could give us the boots using the two-color mold method used for Bart Simpson's shorts. Not only is that review video 25 minutes, but he has a second, separate unboxing video. You know, just in case you were worried that there wasn't enough detail in the review. Compared to the original 4483 AT-AT from 2003, the body on the new one is too short and narrow. The legs are also a lot thinner. If they kept the head of the new one but the body proportions of 4483 you'd have the perfect AT-AT. Quote
lomis Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 So, does the Snowtrooper commander not get a backpack? Forgive my ignorance, but I only see enough parts on the parts list images for two backpacks. Quote
Cyberbricker Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 The commander doesn't have a pack back, so I guess he is not getting one. Quote
Calanon Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Ohh, new hats for imperial officers! They are gorgeous. Quote

You are absolutely right about the body though. Can't believe they kept the exact proportions from 8129 when it was the worst thing about that set. Quote

It looks like the body of this new version is smaller than 8129. Quote

Darth Malgus Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 Like the minifigs in the ISD cannot wait to see them in Australia, hopefully it is not too far away the cantina looks the pick of the bunch right now. Be interested to see if we get an AAT as I was finally able to get my hands on the original a little while ago and its in desperate need of an upgrade. Quote
Just The Doctor Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 The cantina set has impressed me more than I thought it would! I originally didn't think the build was that good, but seeing the features and looks of the set has changed my mind. The landspeeder is a great build, I love the colours and detail on it! Quote
Snowspeeder Pilot Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 Where is Grogall and his HR pictures? By the way, do you know the release dates in USA. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 15, 2014 Posted May 15, 2014 By the way, do you know the release dates in USA. Officially, it's usually August. Some stores may have them in mid- to late July. Quote

It's the same. Legs are taller on the new one though, and head is bigger. So proportionally, the body looks smaller. Edited May 15, 2014 by bjorn77 Quote
