Faefrost Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 I would have thought that myself had I not seen the pictures from the New York Toy Fair that showed the new design snowtrooper in the snowspeeder and AT-AT sets yet still the older version in the Advent Calendar. It could just be a mistake but it seems as if they may actually include the other version in the Calendar. Which is a pretty stupid thing to do if you ask me. So they should just melt down any old stock as soon as they get a new mold online? They will use up what stock they have in a variety of ways. The Advent Calenders are a fairly good one. They normally mix some new figs and some old ones in them. And some figs may be a mix of old and new parts, such as minor details on face printing. Plus when new parts come online, initially they will be limited to sets they were specifically meant for. Until production stock can reach levels where the parts can be more broadly spread around. Case in point those new Chima/Mixels ball joints. When Marcos Bessos was designing the CuuSoo Exo Suit he has said that he was not able to use those pieces. At that time they were limited to just the Mixels and Chima Legend Beasts. So these new Snowtrooper molds were probably limited to just the ATAT and Snowspeeder. They know they will have sufficient parts for those sets, and reruns as needed. Quote

I only meant that it would have been nicer for them to have included the new mold snowtrooper, especially when several of the other sets in the same wave contain the new snowtroopers. Its fine when the other sets in a wave don't contain a newer version of a minifigure since there is a low chance that consistency is going to be affected compared to this instance, where on top of drastically changing a figure they also continue to release the old one at the same time. Alucard77 Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Thank you for your review. Is it normal that the cockpit do not close completely ? Quote
snefroe Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 saw the new star wars sets yesterday at the Lego Shop in Antwerp... hmmm... some mixed feelings about them, really. The Phantom doesn't look very interesting I must say. The weakest set of this summer, IMO. The Snow Speeder is quite fine, but I guess there are no surprises left on that model. I think the basic model is several years old now... The same could be said about the AT AT. Not bad, but nothing brilliant either. I'd say the first AT AT still rules! The sandcrawler is pretty cool, with lots of great figs, but too expensive for a non-star wars fan. I think the Ghost and the Jedi Scout are by far the best models of this wave. They do need some modifications, based on the youtube reviews, but they're great space ships... Quote

He's been putting out reviews of the new sets before anyone so I thought I'd post them here for everyone. I'd recommend you subscribe for the coming reviews of the newer sets. Quote

Csacsa234 Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 That would interest me too, I looked for them but couldn't find any, nor on youtube nor anywhere else. Quote
arc Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 If anyone has both the new at-at and the 2010 version, could they post a comparison pic? Quote
beartrapper Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 I've been hearing rumors about a new UCS Millenium Falcon. Any insight into that? Quote
Faefrost Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 I've been hearing rumors about a new UCS Millenium Falcon. Any insight into that? Oft repeated wishful thinking. Most of the UCS rumors seem to be focused more on a UCS Slave 1. Also given that the last 2 UCS type sets have been higher price point sets (Ewoks and Sandcrawler) we probably will not see another really big high priced set for awhile. I'm thinking sub $200 for the next one or two sets as R2 and the X Wing cycle out. Quote
Revelation Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 I've been hearing rumors about a new UCS Millenium Falcon. Any insight into that? I spoke to a LEGO employee about 3 months ago while he was stocking the shelves of a store with new products and he told me they were planning on bringing out another UCS Millenium Falcon so take from that what you want. I guess that means we won't get another one. :D Seriously, I think the question is WHEN they will release another one and not IF. Edited May 19, 2014 by Robert_88 Quote
Faefrost Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 (edited) I'm sure we will see some form of a new Falcon to go along with Episode VII. Given that they have built a full size MOC up of it inside and out, it's a safe guess that it will feature prominently in the movie. I just sort of suspect that it will be a minifig scale play set in the $130 range. Edited May 20, 2014 by Faefrost Quote
Admiral-Ackbar Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Found good pics of 75056 Thank you for these. I did not realise it would be a Phase 2 Clone included with this, but who's complaining? Another plain clone is fine by me! Quote
Alfadas Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Aah nice. Another clone, super battle droid and snowtrooper to go with the rest. And of course Santa Vader. Indeed, the Phase ll Clone trooper is awesome! I just don't get it why they did not include the new snowtrooper (correct me if I'm wrong)? Quote
Tariq j Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 I've been hearing rumors about a new UCS Millenium Falcon. Any insight into that? I believe a new looking one was sighted in the Yoda Chronicles-but I can't be sure. Quote
rollermonkey Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 ^True, this sighting is. With the typical grain of salt, my local LEGO store manager said that I lucked out and got the last Millennium Falcon last night and there aren't any more expected. It was definitely the only one in the store, as it was shelved in front of a stack of Republic Gunships. Quote
Just The Doctor Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 I think that the new snowtrooper has too many pieces to put into this calendar, so they just threw in the next best variant. the rest of the calendar is amazing, though! Quote
ResIpsaLoquitur Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Hmmmmm. Pro: that Phase II clone comes with a helmet after all, so he's not just "Clone with a Santa Hat." Con: I already bought a Microfighters Turbo Tank just to get the Phase II Clone. Argh. I'll still get the AC, but man do I wish it had some more Episode III characters, like a Wookiee, a Phase II pilot, and a Christmas Grievous. Quote
cookiemonster Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 (edited) I took some quick comparison shoots after building the new Star Destroyer. The technic pins who are connecting the openings sides are jarring like crazy if you will open them. I took this section three times apart because I thought I built something wrong but it seems to be normal. Very strange. I let the photos talk for themselves. In my opinion the new version looks "tiny". Especially if it is standing next to a normal sized ship like the current Millennium Falcon. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/3o1x0zi29otyepz/AADtfmL2srvBOzBFLIDl-Ky_a Edited May 22, 2014 by cookiemonster Quote
Ceroknight Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 It's definitely more compact and it makes a better display model than the previous one. I'm still going to try and get it. Quote
Cyberbricker Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 If its on sale, then I might be convinced to buy my very first ISD. Quote
LegoFjotten Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 I will be waiting for a good sale before picking up most of the new sets (don't get me wrong, I like the new OT sets, I just like them better at a lower price ). Not sure what to do about the new B-Wing though, that new pilot is fantastic... not sure if I will be able to wait for a sale on that one. Quote
