My lego store had all the new Star Wars sets. This wave is expensive!!

Heh-heh, mine did too. Finally made the trek up on Friday to the only local Lego store near me (West Farms Mall up in West Hartford) and saw all the new sets. I ended up picking up pretty much all of them. The AT-AT, the ISD, the Cantina, Snowspeeder, and on a whim since I don't have much, if any, of the Episode I sets, the MTT. Yes, it was quite the expense, but considering what I used to spend money on that was incredibly stupid and a dark period in my life, I had no issues. (Also helped re-financing the house last year and drastically cutting back my mortgage payment each month thus allowing me to save a ton of money in the past year).

I will say that all of the sets I picked up were REALLY fun to build. Yes, the AT-AT had some repetitive sections but that's to be expected as you have to build all four legs. In the end, it looks really great and it's nice that I have so many Luke Skywalkers, and a bunch of extra "ropes" from the sets I've built, that I was able to attach Luke to one of the ropes and attach the rope to the bottom of the AT-AT and have him hanging off of it. With the Snowspeeder, I now have a gray one and an orange one which is nice. I had a whole bunch of extra thread lying around the house so I went and lengthened the thread for the speeder and also used a small dab of hot glue (barely visible) where the thread ties into the anchor to keep it there. Got the AT-AT set with the thread wrapped around the legs just like in the movie.

I think what's nice about this wave of sets is that aside from the Cantina, all of the sets are ones that if you have multiples of them it doesn't really matter since there are multiple snowspeeders, multiple ISDs, multiple AT-ATs, and multiple MTTs logically in use in the "universe". I had a real blast building the sets this entire weekend. I just wish that Lego would hurry up with the PaB purchases I made. I hate that when you use the PaB at their online store, it can take up to three MONTHS for them to ship it out to you. I really want to get my mini-fig display case built, as the parts I have so far make me realize that this will look AMAZING once it is all built. Also have a bunch of parts to build some Probe Droids in that purchase which will fit in great with my rapidly growing Hoth collection.

The Troop Transport was also used in a Marvel comic back in the 80s:

When Disney bought Lucasfilm/Star Wars they also got the rights of the comics. Dark Horse had those rights, but that deal expires in a couple of months. From that moment, Marvel will publish old and new comics (the comic from which the picture above is will be re-released btw).

My guess is that there should be no problem releasing that vehicle.

I thought you guys were talking about the OTHER Kenner transport vehicle... It was a action figure carrying case based on the spaceship design of the Rebel transports that escaped from Hoth... Held like 25 figures, IRC.

After owning 75059 for a month, I thought I'd give my thoughts:

Despite 3000+ pieces, the set really feels like it's lacking. Because of the piece usage for support, it's very compact, and not in a good way. It, IMO, feels like you payed $300 for a $100 playset. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but I don't like it enough. It is almost the same size as the Republic Gunship from last year.

Moving to the minifigures, they're alright. Luke and Owen suffer from too much detail on their faces. The rest, other than the R1 droid, are nothing special. The R1 droid for me was the standout. Despite only 1 printed piece, it really looks and feels like a miniature droid.

Something I should mention is that the look doesn't flow. There's a lack of detail on the front and sides, but a huge amount on the back.

Altogether, I would say skip it until a markdown.

I've not had a chance to build mine yet due to space / work / upcoming Wedding.

Once I've got some more free time I'll be dismantling the sets on display now and putting those together.

By then there'll be a Slave 1 and the UCS Batman Tumbler to add to that!

Great find Faefrost! I don't see an Astromech droid cabin on that ship. Is it an X-wing or Z-95 headhunter or maybe something entirely different for the sequel trilogy?

I like the look of that!... I really like that were getting McQuarrie designs on Episode VII and Rebels.

It warms my heart that there's something quite organic about those designs dating back to the origins of the series.

I'm reserving my hype for Episode VII. After the massive, simply unreachable, hype surrounding the prequel trilogy I don't want to set my expectations too high and wind up being greatly disappointed.

Valid concerns but did the prequel trilogy have any big names vouching for their greatness other than Lucas?

Also people saw the designs, they knew the ships and locations were more pristine and yet years after the fact complained about the aesthetic differences.

Were there any warnings that people simply ignored because of the hype?

If you look carefully there is the faint hint of something sticking up just slightly from the middle of that downward slope behind the cockpit. There may be an Astromech back there, and you can only just barely see the tip of it.

The story may or may not be awful. We may be outraged in ways we cannot yet comprehend. But the shear emphasis they seem to be putting on practical physical effects and classic model making leave me hope that at a minimum we will be seeing some great ships, and Lego sets of great ships, for years to come.

Waitamainute... they are doing McQuarrie designs in both Episode VII and Rebels?? :sceptic:

Um.... ... okay. I guess it's all the same universe anyway.

Can't wait to see more of the Rebels Visual Dictionary so we can see all these new ships we are getting!

I was at the Indigo at the Eaton Centre in downtown Toronto today and to my surprise they had the Star Destroyer and the Phantom, but none of the other new sets. 150$ for the ISD and 25$ for the Phantom. Perhaps in other places in Canada these sets are popping up?

Well, we haven't seen this new X-wing design in 'Rebels' yet (nor in the preview booklet on youtube), so as long as that doesn't happen, there's no hiatus I guess...

And don't forget: at the time the X-wings were in used they were already considered as 'old vehicles'. Why wouldn't this specific X-wing be an even older example?

Just because the EpVII X-wing is based on the McQuarrie art doesn't mean it's "older" in-universe. Rebels will likely have OT style X-wings (as fairly new ships) if they appear at all, and maybe junkie old Z-95s from TCW.

I look forward to how TLG will handle the build of the unusual split design in the S-foils of this new version. Very excited to see this build!

I'm new and didn't know where to post this since its 2015, but whatever.

According to CNBC.com, in Comic-Con LEGO will have a showcase of every LEGO Star Wars minifigure ever created – over 500 in total. AND they will reveal ONE new 2015 set

Just saw that today! Considering that Star Wars SDCC is focused heavily on Rebels show, the set for 2015 would likely be one that showcases Sabine and/or the Inquisitor.

Watched the LEGO Movie Blu last night and fairly sure I spotted what might be the Slave 1 hanging in the basement layout alongside the other UCS sets. Will try to get a screenshot tonight if I can... unless anyone else has seen it too?
