Clone 01354 Productions Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 This will be released this year? Ugh.....the crazy holiday season will ensure that this thing is sold out, at least until January. Time to put my money in (around $70) and ask for an early Christmas gift.....before it is sold out. And you know what? I am disappointed in the lack of 4-LOM. He was teased at us in the Yoda Chronicles, so we all thought he would be here, but no: Stormtrooper instead. I get 4-LOM was not in this scene, but still.....neither was a Stormie..... And really, I am hoping for a Cloud City, but I am against it too. First off, because it is so big, Cloud City can never be pulled off well. You can't even just model a playset into the shape of Cloud City, like the Death Star, because it has a massive antenna sticking out below it! And all of the iconic scenes will be reduced to dinky little builds (like the Death Star, and the last Cloud City). Really, I would hope for just one room: the carbon-freezing chamber. That is the most iconic, and really, we can get all the minifigs we want: Luke, Leia, Chewy, C-3PO, Lando, Lobot, Vader; this can work because they all appear in this chamber at one point or another. A carbon-freezing chamber would be great. But, it'll probably be the new set that replaces the Death Star.....which means it'll be around for a while.....so my wallet doesn't die next year. Quote
GallardoLU Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I just gave up all hope, we will never get Lando and I really don´t get how Lego can ignore the TESB duel and TESB in general so effectively for what is a decade next year. First, Hoth has been done over and over and over again, so to say they ignore TESB is just not true. They Ignore Bespin, 10 sets in total across 15 years of star wars (counting 75060, and micro scale sets). 7 of those are Slave I! 2 are a cloud cars, the other is the now impossibly expensive cloud city set. So if we remove the Slave I’s that leaves 3 sets only 2 in system scale. And only 1 of which includes any part of the city in the clouds. Lego really needs to do something to correct that massive hole. Quote
Aethersprite Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 J2G, does your source have any info on whether or not the UCS Slave 1 have an interior? Not that it would make it or break it for me, but I would really love it if it did. Quote

tonif430 Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 (edited) Wonderful SET!!! Great image Venkefedo & Will!!!  Edited September 3, 2014 by tonif430 Quote

ScottyHaze Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I love how they gave Boba a brown cape again to be consistent with the movies. I didn't realize it but boba has a green cape on the skiff and a brown cape in The empire strikes back, awesome attention to detail from lego. Even kinda looks like there might be a red design or something on his cape which is also accurate. Quote
Chills Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 After letting the initial excitement wear off I have to say I'm still pretty thrilled with this set. I do think that the color scheme makes the ship look too "new" and TLG should have used the same colors as 6209. But this is minor, like arguing whether an X-Wing should be white or grey. However, my main complaint with the set is the lack of mini figures. I think we should have gotten a Lando, Lobot, and/or Bespin Leia with this set. Or maybe even a Chewie with C-3PO in a backpack! Now that would have been cool. But I'll still be buying this set. TLG, you win! Quote

I can only imagine that some of the figures you mention are in the pipeline for later in 2015... a Bespin white-suit Leia might have been nice, to look forlornly at the ship as it escapes. That'd free up a slot for a Bespin Gown Leia, perhaps; but if we get a Carbon Freeze set (and they double-dip on the jacketless Han & Carbonite Piece) then white-suit Leia, Chewie-with-3PO-on-his-back (how will THAT look, I wonder?), Lando, Vader, Bespin Luke are all possibilities, but a couple modular sets would be preferable with Leia, Chewie, Lando and an Ugnaught or two in the Carbon Freeze set perhaps, then another set for the climactic scene between Luke & Vader? There's potential there, all kinds of it... just nothing of the 'swooshable' sort, which may be why they hesitate. Hopefully we'll see some/all of that next summer, long a wait as it may be. Quote
Ki-Adi-Mundi Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 This definitely is a beautiful set! One clear accurate design of one of the most iconic SW starships! I usually am not so much into UCs sets - they lack functions and playability/poseability. Still, this is a real gem. I only wish it had an interior. The minifigure selection is absolutely plausible and Boba's new print also is adorable. The Bespin Guard seriously rises my hopes for a new Cloud City which is long overdue! Quote
plew2000 Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Looks awesome. But Jango fetts blaster dose not go with this. The wind shield looks great! Quote

LOL, there is SOOO much potential here, isn't there? I'd love to see all of those figures created, and I really want a Cloud City set. I mean, arguably the most pivotal moment in ALL of the SW movies happens in Cloud city in the reactor shaft. Sorry, Doc, got a little off topic. Quote
Fives Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Looks awesome. But Jango fetts blaster dose not go with this. The wind shield looks great! Jango's blaster? What? Quote
Fives Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Ok. And yeah, Boba's blaster looks bad. Luckily there are lots of alternative possibilities. Quote
Tariq j Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Man, I can't believe TLG would use that blaster Still, as pointed out above, there are many alternatives. Apart from the cockpit, is there going to be an interior to this set, and if so what will it include? Quote
Legoman123 Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 When can we expect to see a video from Lego showing Slave 1? Quote
rollermonkey Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 It's not even officially announced... Quote
legolandia Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 A beautiful set for which I have been waiting for a while. Definitely a must buy for me. What a disappointment! The only reason I was excited for this set was for Zuckus and 4-LOM. Not a single new character - just some re-arming and legging of Boba. Wow, I was ready to shell out $200 for those figs, and now it is a no-brainer pass. It makes me laugh how one minute some people complain about accuracy of the set and the next some others ask for minifigures which were nowhere near the scene. No matter what Lego does there will always be someone who is disappointed. This is the first set where I actually gazed upon a set going "Woooooooaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!" Such a beauty she is. Forget the Cloud City Boba, just imagine how much the Boba Fett in this set will be worth in ten years from now. I doubt very much if this Boba or any others in the future will ever increase in price the same as the Cloud City Boba. I believe that Cloud City Boba is the only publicly sold set minifigure to have bloated in value that much. And if I am not mistaken the reason for the high price is because not many Cloud City sets were sold at the time (?). Quote
GallardoLU Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Man, I can't believe TLG would use that blaster Still, as pointed out above, there are many alternatives. best Lego official version of his gun so far: Larger than Pistol = Check scope = Check not a rifle = Check long stock = never going to happen if anyone else has a combo for Fett's gun I'd like to see them (if this is to far off topic, let me know and maybe we can start a thread for this sort of thing ) Quote
Venkefedo Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Remember that Fett has different guns in ESB and ROTJ... that may have been a factor in using the black ADU gun for this set. ...or they'd planned on Zuckuss, but someone noted he's nowhere near the scene, so they delayed Zuckuss but made use of the base gun they were set to use with him Quote
Clone 01354 Productions Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 He's a prequel fan, don't beat him up for it haha DON'T YOU DARE EVER EVEN THINK OF CALLING ME THAT AGAIN!!!!!! But seriously, I could not be more pro-OT. TESB is one of the greatest movies of all time. Also, thanks; I never really noticed the troop. (That is not helping my case....) I love how they gave Boba a brown cape again to be consistent with the movies. I didn't realize it but boba has a green cape on the skiff and a brown cape in The empire strikes back, awesome attention to detail from lego. I do think that the color scheme makes the ship look too "new" and TLG should have used the same colors as 6209. But this is minor, like arguing whether an X-Wing should be white or grey. The ship was always red, never brown. (though brown does look better). Quote
Brickmamba Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Funny enough as goo This will be released this year? Ugh.....the crazy holiday season will ensure that this thing is sold out, at least until January. Time to put my money in (around $70) and ask for an early Christmas gift.....before it is sold out. Indeed and I have yet to pick up the SC and Tumbler, funny enough this will probably sit behind those 2 in priority since I have the normal slave 1 and 2. It makes me laugh how one minute some people complain about accuracy of the set and the next some others ask for minifigures which were nowhere near the scene. No matter what Lego does there will always be someone who is disappointed. There's a host of examples where figures are released who bare no relation at all to that particular scene or vehicle. In my opinion its about perceived value, other than a pair of printed arms and minor detail changes, the figures are all repeats of past sets in some form of another, the UCS Slave will command a premium price and ideally I would have liked to have seen some sort of exclusive, another bounty hunter maybe? Anyways this is why the UCS Tumbler is full of win because the Heath Joker can not be had in any other set, its a bonus that I feel you don't get with the UCS Slave Quote
