montgocloud Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 yeh that's true, but the new logo could be some kind of hint As much as I'd love an upgraded Vader, I don't think the new logo is a hint since the packaging is the same for all 2014 Star Wars products, not just LEGO. Quote
Phantomscream Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Hmm. The Saleucami set is essentially a battle pack. I did expect a little more but oh well, I guess that fills up the usual bad guy slot. Yeah exactly, maybe one more Clone Trooper to actually make it more of a battle and less of a suicide mission What price do you guys think the Saleucami set will be? I'm thinking a few pounds/dollars more than a traditional battle pack..so maybe £15/$. Also, those new blasters actually look pretty nifty, I like that they shoot out studs. Might actually pick up the Droid Gunship, didn't buy the CW one and the new Chewbacca looks amazing. In terms of a Vader redesign, do we really need one (printing aside)? I've always thought of Vader as the one character which would generally stay the same design/mould wise, his helmet is pretty much perfect for what it is. Quote

I just see a possibility of designing something better, more precision like chewbacca right, look at the new one coming out, the difference from that and the original chewbacca is awesome, a lot of untapped potential from LEGO Edited August 17, 2013 by jrad26 Quote
legofreak86 Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 A bit late to the party due to account problems but here are my thoughts on the January wave: The Battle Pack for Kashyk looks like some lovely new clone figures I am glad to see they are giving us lots of clones for this clearly ep 3 based wave. The death star one could be useful once as the royal guards are good to have but not in bulk. The two vehicles of the bps aren't that. inspiring. Not to sure on the blasters those look like a step backward rather than forward. Now the recruitment sets I like the idea of getting some wanted figures such as the clones especially as I have none of those figures minus the droids. I am especially happy to see a cheap way to get a what looks like redesigned face han solo as I only have the medal one. Anakin's interceptor must be relatively cheap, as it only has two minifigures. The design and minfigure variants are spot on. Will definitely be picking that one up! General grievous wheel bike is slightly disappointing due to boga being sadly absent. I would have liked to see him updated with printing. I like that they have finally given obi wan a rots accurate costume with leg printing and the brown undershirt showing at the neck and the right tunic printing Grievous looks similar to his clone wars variant in the minfigure pictures. I hope he gets his two toned cape and perhaps a more movie styled face. The atap looks a bit pricey for me. With only two unique minifigures it doesn't really interest me. Salucemi could be good, although it looks just like a repackage of other sets combined with a new figure. The Droid Gunship is a big draw due to it's new printed Chewbacca!! Which is the most accurate I have ever seen! Can't wait to see that in reality. Other figures look good too. Wonder where the police gunship and tri fighter are. I've heard there is a rots palpatine in the tri fighter can anyone confirm this? I also think the vulture is a bit big as in the movie it is just a bit smaller than a Jedi interceptor. Quote

Tariq j Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 (edited) What, no love for the new Chewbacca? Or am I mistaken and is that a different Wookiee? The one from the AT-AP is a wookie warrior. I think that's a new chewbucca it looks like has a new mold and taller legs, also talking of images, have the images that we saw been permantly removed or is it just a site error? yeh that's true, but the new logo could be some kind of hint, I mean to be honest the DARTH vader helmet always looked a bit flat, and some leg prints They may possibly change the helmet, I suppose leg prints arn't a bad idea but there isn't really much to print other than boots. Edited August 17, 2013 by Tariq j Quote
NovaSentinel Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 The wookiee in the AT-AP is Tarrful, listed as Chief Tarrful on the prelims. Chewie has regular legs, just a new head and body mold. A new Vader is more than likely, but probably only with new body and leg prints, and maybe a new face. The helmet mold is perfect, although they may choose to print the eyes and silver grille on Quote

The Legonater Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 So after being gone for a week, I've managed to catch up and see the pics. Some really cool stuff. Death Star Battle Pack: Love the fact we finally have gunners. There's lots of complaints against the Royal Guards, but I've been wanting some of these guys for a while, so I'll take it. The cannon seems a tad odd, but it is a battle pack. Kashyyyk Battle Pack: The minifigures are impeccable. The Swamp Speeder is a bit of a let-down, but I have the recent one so it's not that big of a deal to me. Battle of Saluecami: On the one hand, I'm happy to finally be getting a Saluecami set, and one with Neyo no less. The 91st has some of the coolest armour in the movies, so I'm happy to finally see some. The rest of the set isn't that impressive, but I may pick it up depending on price. Vulture Droid: The one from 2005 is far superior, but I may pick it up for the Neimodian. V-Wing: Not much improvement from the last one, which I have. Pass. Jedi Starfighter: Ditto the V-Wing. General Grevious' Wheel Bike: I was thinking a few weeks ago that this set should get a redesign, and I'm glad it did. I'm a little saddened to see the lack of an updated Boga, but oh well. I may pick this up, especially if Grevious is improved at all from his TCW version. Droid Gunship: Again, it's not very improved, and I have the last one. The Kashyyyk trooper and updated Chewie are impressive, but not enough to sway me. AT-AP: My opinion has not changed. All in all, a very cheap wave for me. Quote
jrad26 Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 i was doing some browsing and last years sets went from item codes 75000-75025, and this year is starting at 75028-75044 and the utapau battle pack is 75036 which is between kashyyk troopers (75035) and battle of salucemi (75037) so its a very very high chance that its a sure set, possibly even summer wave same goes for the other 3 sets, and darth taters information turned out to be viable so hope this answers anybodies doubts Quote

Excellent! This would be excellent as Lego has never made any utapau clones before. Quote

wilson3a10 Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Sad that it is not commander gree. I like the dark green with some grey in his armor. And anyone know when they will be released? Quote

I don't have time to move posts right now, but stop the 'updated Vader' discussion here and stay on target, please. I think the Vader discussion is valid, seeing as the last two characters featured on the packaging, Maul and Yoda, both recieved updates in a summer wave set, so following the pattern, it is more than likely that with Vader on the packaging this year, he too will get an update. It is just speculation at this point, but at the same time it does have logical reasoning, and so starts the rumour of a set featuring Darth Vader at some point this year :) Im hoping that the Utapau set will include Cody, but then again, if they use the same helmet mold and dont give him the visor, its hardly worth bothering. Of course, Lego could have ditched the holes in the helmet for a different connection method that we just don't know about yet... Quote

I'll take an inaccurate Cody without the visor over not getting a Cody minifigure at all. Would be great to also get an Airborne Trooper and non-CW 212th Clone Trooper in the Utapau set. I'll be disapointed if its like the Battle on Saleucami with only one clone and a bunch of useless droids. Quote
Oky Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 That Kashyyyk BP is ridiculously awesome. 4 great figs with guns that actually shoot studs? Sold! I'm also loving the microfighters. They seem like a cute and stylish new approach to small SW sets and allow us to get some minifigs cheap without a useless planet piece. The rest is just okay. The "Great Vehicles" aren't so great to me. I feel like they could have been more accurate, especially the wheel bike, but oh well. The Saleucami and DS BPs are disappointing too. What do you need an army of Royal Guards and Gunners for? And only one clone in the Battle of Saleucami? While I like the idea of these new spring loaded shooters, I hate the way it is incorporated into this speederbike. I'll probably still buy them for the figs though. So far I'm pleased though and look forward to seeing the final versions and the rest of the sets. Quote
Faefrost Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 That Kashyyyk BP is ridiculously awesome. 4 great figs with guns that actually shoot studs? I love the Kashyyyk clones. The "you'll shoot your eye out!" Hair dryers of doom I am much less sold on. If these are the new standard field arms for the SW universe I am going to have to start investing in third party weaponry. Quote

I'm pretty sure the 'Hair Dryer' look is just a fill-in until they make the official thing. But if they do look like that officially, then I'm with you about buying customs. Quote
wesker Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 One positive note about the new "Hair Dryer" blasters is that they only seem to be included in the new battlepacks. Everything else looks to be sticking with the regular blasters. Quote

Everything else looks to be sticking with the regular blasters. They did the same thing with the DC-15 pieces we have now when they first came out. I guess LEGO like gauging reaction by putting their new weapons on Battle packs. Quote
Darth Malgus Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Not a fan of the new stud gun, I'm sure it was a new way to get even more flick missle action into the line, it seems all sets these days need a minimum number of flick missle options and this wasa way to meet quota, the kids will probably love it and then we'll be stuck with it going forward, after closer inspection this wave seems a little lite in content, the new Grevious looks ok from preliminaries but the wheel bike is not so cool... Hopefully its not an expensive (AUD relative) wave cannot imagine it being so. Quote
Borex Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 I really dig the DS Trooper battle pack. It contains the 2 coolest guys on the death star: the Royal Guards and the DS Gunners! But what is wrong with those new guns? Awful! btw i do hope they don't redesign those royal guards too much. It could certainly effect their coolness. The Kashyyk Troopers battlepack was to come with Wookies was rumoured i thought. Where are they now? Still nice Clone Troopers. General Grievous' Wheel Bike: finally i will get Grievous. I'm curious to see the final design. With no boga in it, and no other minifig, this one could be (and should be) a cheaper set. The Microfighters: .... well i don't know. A bit odd. Maybe i will pick up one or two, and maybe the next wave of fighters are a little more interesting to me. A chibi Sail Barge for instance to fly along with my skiffs and the system sail barge. I have to buy Rotta so it could be his ship. But how many times is it even possible to redesign Han Solo in that outfit btw?? The vulture droid set has i think this kinda Neimoidian warrior in it: http://semperneimoidiana.weebly.com/uploads/8/7/5/6/8756943/1427323_orig.jpg Quote
