TeufelHund Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Whether a wave is good or not is a matter of opinion and not a fact like the way you're stating it. whether a set is anything special or not is also a matter of opinion. you might not like those ships personally but it might be someone else's favorite. my 6 year old likes all the micro fighters and so do other younger members of my family. Sorry but it is a fact that those microfighters are lame. They make the Planets series look like UCS sets. Quote
Artanis I Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Sorry but it is a fact that those microfighters are lame. They make the Planets series look like UCS sets. They are supposed to be cute. I think they serve their purpose, a cheap set with a minifig that's got a recognisable model and reusable parts. Quote
BrickG Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I agree they're lame. But the planet sets were also very lame. So it's just more of the same lame. Quote
strangely Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Honestly I like the microfighters better than the planets. The planets were interesting, but pretty limited, there are after all only so many recognizable planets, so that series had an expiration date on it before it even hit shelves. I mean the asteroid field one was just sad... I mean they hit the bottom of the barrel remarkably quick. The microfighters on the other hand, while mostly silly looking, provide a good range of pieces. Useful ones at that. And there's an almost countless amount of vehicles out there, so at least there's plenty of material to use in these sets (Granted several series in we'll hit the less than recognizable vehicles that nobody cares about). Honestly I'm just glad to have a cheap way to buy minifigures. Quote
lowbike1 Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 any ideas on prices for the microfighters yet? they look like $9.99... Also, anyone seen a price on the Grevious wheelbike? Quote
Aethersprite Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 (edited) any ideas on prices for the microfighters yet? they look like $9.99... Also, anyone seen a price on the Grevious wheelbike? From the website nrg posted, the wheel bike, interceptor, vulture droid and V-wing all seem to be the same price point as the A-wing and the tank droid sets from this year. The only thing kind of lame is that you don't know the difference between "fact" and "opinion". Once again theses micro fighter sets are obviously aimed at kids and most of you old folks on this forum are not going to like them because they don't appeal to you. Well, there not supposed too. These micro fighter sets give parents a chance to get there younger children there favorite recognizable Ships without spending tons of money on the huge sets they usually come in. Quote
Oky Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Sorry but it is a fact that those microfighters are lame. They make the Planets series look like UCS sets. Uhm, no, that's an opinion. It is a fact that they are small and deformed, but that doesn't automatically make them lame, at least not to everyone. It is a common mistake that people like you confuse their opinions as facts. Besides, what's lame about getting an exclusive minifig and a bunch of useful parts for a cheap price? I for one like them and have liked them ever since we saw the prelims. To me, they do look kinda cute and introduce a refreshing new style and concept to Star Wars sets, mini models that can fit minifigs. They may not be accurate, but they're not meant to be; they're supposed to be stylized representations of the vehicles. I can understand why people didn't like the planet sets. While they are nice display pieces, there's not much you could do with those printed balls and display stands. The minifigs were mostly the same ones you could get in regular sets and the mini models were just slightly larger versions of the ones we got in polybags. The microfighters resolve all those problems by giving us mostly new/updated figs with different looking vehicles that they can actually ride without the pesky planet and display stand. It's probably the closest we will ever get to collectable SW minifigures and I think we should all be appreciative of that. Quite frankly, I don't see why anyone wouldn't like them unless the chibi style simply doesn't appeal to you, but even then you could still mod them to look more accurate. It's all a matter of looking at the bright side. Quote

Archer Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Maybe this was already discussed. but the scout troopers seem to be better printed (eyes seem larger) than that first one we saw floating around. Coud be the angle, but here's hoping Quote
Oky Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 any ideas on prices for the microfighters yet? Well, the website lists them as € 16,99, but I highly doubt that's MSRP. Quote
Darth Malgus Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I like the chibi look, takes up less shelf space than the planets, minifigs look good too! Quote
Oky Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I just noticed something. On the back of the microfighters boxes there is an ad for a Lego Star Wars Microfighters app. Perhaps it will be one of those videogames where you can unlock playable characters/vehicles with the toys you buy? Maybe every set comes with a unique code that will let you pilot that vehicle in the game and fight against other people? I know TLG has been wanting to "blend the physical world of LEGO with the digital one" and are doing so with the Collectable Minifigures Online app, so it would make sense for them to do the same with Star Wars as well. If so, that would add another level of coolness to these sets and explain why they are called Microfighters! Quote

The Executive Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 (edited) Overall the worst set in my opinion has to be Ani Jedi star fighter. I mean they didn't even add any significant changes from the design of 9494 and it's still missing landing gear. They could have at least threw in an extra figure. I say stick with the 2005 version, its much better than this piece of crap. Everything else looks fantastic, even though they are mostly remakes. I love the detail on the battle pack figures but I am a little worried about the flick fire guns, they look ridiculous. Something about the box art I really like, the blue and orange are nice complimentary colors. Edited November 22, 2013 by The Executive Quote

And I've always been a fan of the Chibi style represented in LEGO, And there's so much LEGO can do with star wars vehicles in this chibi micro fighters form. Imagine a chibi style Naboo star fighter, at-at, slave l, Snow speeder....and the list can go on. I'm really looking forward to this line and can't wait to see what other star wars vehicles they make for it. Quote

Clone OPatra Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Wow, finally a proper Palpatine after roughly 15 years. Hooray! He looks terrific, even though that might be the most wrinkle-printing ever. Those Shock Troopers look beautiful. I generally hate the new Phase II helmet, but somehow those guys pull it off. Quote
strangely Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 New Palpatine and shock troopers: http://www.hothbrick...-shock-trooper/ I think Lego went a tad overboard on the wrinkles, but it's still good overall. It's strange that this Palpatine looks older than the one from Palpatine's arrest, considering the fact that one was the beginning of the movie and the other the end. Oh well, it's a good looking figure at least. The robe printing is definitely interesting. Quote

lomis Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 One thing I noticed about the 75032-1: X-Wing Fighter (http://brickset.com/detail/?set=75032-1) is that it looks like it has the new 2x2 flat round tile with stud found in the 10243-1: Parisian Restaurant (http://brickset.com/detail/?set=10243-1) as well as the following piece which has only been included in games as far as I can tell: http://brickset.com/search/?part=4547649 Quote
