Brickdoctor Posted August 16, 2013 Author Posted August 16, 2013 QM Note: Okay, fairly big update. Lord Duvors, I don't understand what you're trying to do with the "lit." portions of your speech. I use that in translations in cases because there is no exact Quenya word to translate to, so I write in parentheses what the literal translation would be back from Quenya to English, because Quenya is a real language with real words and rules of their formation and people other than myself can translate it. But you're just writing everything in English. Sandy, since you agreed to go unarmed, I removed the weapons from your stats. I've still got them in an offline copy, though. The Party in the Marketplace: "Any idea why the elves are failing to defend you? And is there anyone else in R'kliff who'd be willing to pick up the slack?" I saw them when they first came to R'kilf, they were a formidable army. They're capable of defending this village." When you finally stop, although you are Blinded, you can hear Alexander and Boomingham in the same room. You can all hear and some of you can see a figure in black speaking to a woman who must be the captain of the mail-clad spearmen. "Captain, they're heavily armed travelers and they demanded to speak with the boss! Neristhyra doesn't trust them but they promised not to hurt me!" "...I see." "I have villagers to train, sir. I'll let you deal with these travelers." "Well well, it's been a long time since I've seen a hero of Heroica — even longer, I suppose, since one has dared to trust me... "Sir Isaac Shawe. Zepher Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Boomingham's jaw drops. He had never seen someone so beautiful. The strong twinkling eyes, just barely hinting at both laughter and intelligence, the strong set mouth, always ready to laugh. The scraggly powerful mustache, bristling with authority and power. Boomingham felt... in love. "Shawe?" Boomingham chews his cheek. "Can't say I know the name. Strange introduction though. Very ominous. Mind untying my friend over there, and then explaining why it is that my friends haven't trusted you?" Quote

Chromeknight Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Nerwen looked up. Although standing in the middle of town, there were few lights to obscure the sky. Looking to her right she saw the familiar stars of the huntsman shining in the gathering dark. As always when she saw him she thought of Lenwë, grief still sharp in her heart. Looking at the keep she could see lights beginning to shine from the windows. She wished that she'd asked the dwarf to find and send Alexander to her. But now it was too late, she would have to walk in alone. Nerwen put fear of treachery aside. She was Cala'quessir. Those within could not be so fallen as to offer violence without provocation, surely?. Quote

Nerwen, you follow Saeavel into the keep, up dark, winding staircases, until you come to a pair of large doors opening into a hall. What is inside the hall is evidence of the elves' talent, of what they can do when they care. While the village around them was deteriorating, the elves had transformed the cold stone keep into the heart of elvendom in R'kilf. Trees grow out of the walls, forming or blending into — you cannot tell — supports that hold up the beams which probably once supported the ceiling. But the ceiling has been removed, and the criss-crossed supports now bear branches of a flowering tree, the room now extending upwards to awe-inspiring heights. No candles are present; an ethereal light descending from some unseen source high above to illuminate the hall at night. Chest, tables, and bookshelf are pushed up against the walls, and in the center of the hall stands Lady Calaryl. From her robes one thing is evident to you: this is not an elf who is just Lord Keveak's last lieutenant; this is an elf who considers herself the successor to Lord Ricroar and the ruler of the Brobric Elves. "Heri Nerwen, alatúlië." Lady Nerwen, welcome. Quote

We are indeed heroes of Heroica, hired by Lord Normorn of Brobric - not by the Hinckwells, mind you - to find a way to settle things here in R'kilf. It is to our understanding that Lady Calaryl of the elves is working here on her own accord, and that the Mopagians and the Pongcanae have also taken an unhealthy interest of this town, disregarding the will of it's people. Might I inquire who you are working for? Or did this resistance really spring up from the people's own will? From what I've seen, the citizens of R'kilf have gotten the short end of the stick on this matter, as each of the factions have only looked after their own interests." Ellaria glances at Alexander and Lawrence. "I hope you trust the word of a druid, as these two can vouch for it being true. Sir Shawe, we only have the interest of the common citizens of this town at heart, so please, be upfront about your motivations so we can compare if they fit well with ours." Quote

Sir Shawe, we only have the interest of the common citizens of this town at heart, so please, be upfront about your motivations so we can compare if they fit well with ours." "Ah, yes, the remnant of Lord Keveak's garrison, and his rival now in power in Brobric — doubtless they will work against each other. The past is the past, but in this case, in one small way, it has come back to haunt us: Lord Keveak's garrison has made R'kilf a dangerous place. And so here I am, again, working for the Shadeux, but instead of being here to start a war, I am now here to end one. The resistance already existed; I have merely organized it into a force that might actually be able to take control of this village and end this conflict. "Eubric's day of judgment is coming. The Wolfgang gain power, the Town Watch, spread too thin. The Shadeaux are working hard to maintain order in the city, make no mistake, but we would be fools if we did not have a backup plan. The Kingdom of Patuqun far to the north is led by an order of knights that has been fighting the Pongcanae for centuries, and they welcome our assistance in driving off this new Poncanis leader. I am about to sign a treaty of alliance with Bârbêthân, Duke of Patuqun. Together we will take the next step towards acquiring the resources necessary to free R'kilf, repair her buildings, reestablish trade...and if Eubric burns, then...hopefully...there will be a chance that the Shadeaux will have allies and influence within a healthy and growing city as a point to regroup at. Patuqun, R'kilf, and the Shadeaux must hang together, or most assuredly we shall all hang separately." Quote

Flipz Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 As Arthur walks to the inn with Ahvialyn, he begins scribbling more notes in his journal (on my profile page, again, if you're in the same place as Arthur, feel free to read over his shoulder, that goes for Ahvialyn as well, Doc). Lifting his head from his work for a moments, he asks, "Penny for your thoughts, Lady Ahvialyn?" Stopping just inside for a moment, Arthur spots Throlar speaking to one of the employees. He quickly pulls Ahvialyn aside, removing his hat and raising his hood to make himself harder to recognize. "What's he doing here?" he whispers to Ahvialyn. "And where's Nerwen to hold his leash? Or any of the others, for that matter?" He pauses, considering. "What do you think? I don't want to room with him, and I wouldn't put that on you, either, but too many rooms would be expensive, and I'm not exactly keen on bunking down out in the street. Any ideas?" Quote

Duvors Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 (edited) (OCC: Inability to sleep is a wonderful thing, no? ) "Throlar Wineghilm, ambassador of... a state I am not allowed to name, for now." Throlar pondered for a minute and realized that Arthur did not want to be associated with the other heroes, also that the women would need to be in different rooms from the men. "I would like two rooms each of both capacities, I'm the only one who is smaller than a man, that may help you." There, that was done with. Suddenly Throlar noticed that there was a hobgoblin standing to one side of the receptionists desk. "Excuse me for a second" said Throlar to the receptionist "I have something to attend to." Striding over to the hobgoblin with a speed and length of stride that none would have expected he said "Ereghk Valgahan(hail, brave warrior)!" (OCC: To be clear, Throlar is speaking Baltar, the language of Baltarok, not Goblonian or any other orc-goblin-hobgoblin language so the fellow he is speaking to may not understand him.) You are an elf who is a hero of Heroica, not a representative of all that is wrong with Heroica itself. This haven is open to all of our people, a shelter in the middle of a city for which there is no hope." The Party under the Marketplace: Ellaria pouts her lips. In this case, this is the plan to be put into action if we have to leave Eubric, but if we see hope for a rebuilt Eubric and require only a place to temporarily regroup, not a new home. And if we never have to use it, then we will still have influence in a thriving city at a crossroads of trade that the other Houses have not invested in." Quote
