Brickdoctor Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 OOC: I shouldn't have a Scroll of Sealing, I traded mine to Ellaria for this shiny armor. If you'd like to give me a free Scroll of Sealing, I won't complain, but... QM Note:Fixed. Arthur's feeling of joy fled as quickly as it had come. Wow. Didn't realize Althior was that far gone... "Is there no way to bring the poor creature to peace?" he asks, concerned. "They were once horses. Great elven-bred horses. Then the leaders of Heroica made them the amulets. Blinded by their grief, they accepted them without question. Now they are slaves to their will. They are wraiths. Neither living nor dead. At all times they feel the presence of the amulets, subdued by the power of the amulets. They will never stop serving yet despising you." Quote
Sandy Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 "It's a pleasure to meet you Miss Ellaria." greets Alexander to the Human Druid "I'm Alexander Vandagant, eleven archer. I think Lord Lawrence is coming, maybe he has stopped in the Market to make some purchases." says with a smile. Ellaria bows her head to the hunter. "A pleasure to meet you too, Mr. Vandangant. I am happy to be here to help your kin." He looks over the party, winking merrily at Ellaria. Ellaria gives Lawrence a subdued wave and a big smile. With the old paladin on the crew, she feels safe again. The others seem very nice as well, even though she doesn't know them very well. While we're on the subject, Miss Arbour, Master Vandangant--which of you would like to borrow my Unlucky Horseshoe? "Thank you for your generosity, Mr. Regulus. I think an extra dose of luck would come in handy for a healer like myself, if you don't mind. I can take the Unlucky Horseshoe as well, to increase our odds." Quote
Chromeknight Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Nerwen looked again at the white horse that reminded her of Mistmane. She looked again down at the amulet. Listening to Ahvialyn her resolve hardened. That an elven horse should be treated so was not right. Drawing the mourning star with its firey glow, she placed the amulet on a nearby fence post. Summoning her strength she drew back and struck the jewellery. The fragile inducing fire rushed into the small chip of metal, shattering it into glowing shards. The spell broken, the white horse vanished. Free. Nerwen's head bowed a moment in silence. you can remove it from Nerwen's inventory thanks BD Quote
Wedge09 Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 (edited) While taking the Scarf of Misfortune, Alexander says: "Thank you Arthur, can I call you Arthur? About the Unlucky Horseshoe, I think it is more usefull to Ellaria than me." To the party: "If anyone need the Sterile Glove or the Duplovian Helmet of the Guard, I will happy to lend them." then he whispers to Arthur "Can you make all the party lucky?" Brickdoctor Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 QM Note: Chromeknight has the Scroll of Luck right now, but since we're out of battle, I'll just assume that Flipz takes it back, casts it, and gives it back. Also, we'll just pretend that you don't destroy the amulet until after we get to Brobric, because Ahvialyn already sent away your horse. Zepher Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Boomingham attempts to cast his Scroll of Recklessness on himself, and then tosses it over to Arthur. "Best of luck, boy. Can't say it's not fitting." Boomingham nods thoughtfully as Nerwen destroys her amulet. "It's been a long time since I've rode two to one horse, my dear, but if it must happen I think we can both fit." Boomingham looks down at his stomach. "I hope the legs don't give out." Quote

Chromeknight Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Nerwen watches with surprise as the short dwarf makes a prodigious leap into the saddle of one of the horses. You ought be an acrobat rather than an ambassador. Speaking to Arthur and Lawrence she said If it is alright with her, I think that I will ride with Ellaria. We won't overburden the horse and she is more likely to keep her hands to herself. Giving a pointed look at the paladin as she spoke. Ahvialyn, I had no idea that the amulets were once living horses, I would rather work than enslave a creature in such a way. With a louder voice, she addressed the whole party Are we now all sorted with our equipment? It would be a shame to waste what daylight we have left. We should go soon. Quote

Mounting your horses, you follow the elf along the winding road through the forest. Whether because of the speed of the elven horses or because of some unknown elven magic, the trip is quick and uneventful. You arrive in Brobric as night has fallen. "Alla Herunya Normorn!" "Welcome to Brobric, heroes of Heroica. As I said in my pitch that was posted in your Hall, Lord Keveak's leaving a garrison in R'kilf has resulted in fighting between multiple groups trying to take control of the city. We'd like to show the other powers on Uland that we're trying to make amends for the actions of Lord Ricroar and Lord Keveak, and we want to help restore order in R'kilf. Unfortunately, we don't have enough warriors to do that ourselves. "We know that groups have been taking advantage of the city's weakness, so we'd like you to go into R'kilf, observe what the different groups are doing, decide which group's control would best benefit the city's future, and help that group establish control of the city. You're free to start up your own faction or attempt to merge two factions together, if you believe that that's the best solution. I'm willing to trust your judgment in making the final decision, but if you need assistance, I will be sending Ahvialyn with you. "I have here a map of R'kilf:" "R'kilf sprung up out of camping grounds where traders would stop for the night at the junction of the three roads leading to Ve'er, Eubric and Mopag. Eventually, a group of men decided to establish a city there, constructing buildings that they could sell or rent out to other traders. They built a keep, started to build some walls and raised numerous shops along the main road from Eubric. "Lord Keveak's occupation ended their lofty hopes of a thriving city in a key location under their control. As you can see, the northern wall remains unfinished, and work never even began on the southwestern walls. Attacks by raiders destroyed the eastern wall which is now nothing more than a line of stakes in the ground, and all the wealthy merchants who owned shops and villas in that area of the city now stay away from R'kilf. "We in Brobric will be observing the situation in R'kilf as best we can, and when you return, we will decide the amount of your reward based on the impact of your decisions, guaranteed to be at least 100 Gold. Do you have any questions, or are you ready to leave?" Quote
Chromeknight Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 (edited) I have a few questions if you please. What is the current population of the town? What is known of the factions in R'klif and where do they draw their support from? Are there elves from Keveak's garrison remaining in the town and do they accept your authority? If so, can we have a letter showing we act on your authority? What state are the gatehouses and keep in? Nerwen paused and drew breath, saving further questions until after those had been answered and others had spoken. Edited July 22, 2013 by Chromeknight Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 22, 2013 Author Posted July 22, 2013 What is the current population of the town? "Very little. Perhaps...fifty or so citizens and merchants who were too poor to leave, plus whatever other factions happen to be in the village, which is very unpredictable." What is known of the factions in R'klif and where do they draw their support from? "That is a large part of the problem: other than the remaining elves, we know very little of what the various factions are, how well-equipped they are, and what their purposes are." Are there elves from Keveak's garrison remaining in the town and do they accept your authority? If so, can we have a letter showing we act on your authority? "Lord Keveak was my chief rival under Lord Ricroar, and that rivalry extended down to between his warriors and my spies. They will not answer to me -- if they did, we could have done this ourselves." What state are the gatehouses and keep in? "As far as I know, they are in ruins." Quote
Zepher Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Boomingham rides his horse with poise and ability. For the most of the trip he remains behind the rest of the party, whistling aimlessly. Barty flies around his shoulders. At the elf settlement he glances around thoughtfully and allows for Nerwen to ask questions. "I've only got one teeny tiny question of my own," he says once her's are answered. "Who are these Lord chaps? I'd have to assume Kaveak isn't that friendly if we're to go up against his remaining troops, but, well, what exact crimes did they commit? Are these elves renegade, or are we talking a trained army here? Do you think we should expect some resistance in a physical form?" "That's more than one." Quote

Are these elves renegade, or are we talking a trained army here? Do you think we should expect some resistance in a physical form?" "Lord Keveak and Lord Ricroar sought to prevent the Lion Knights from settling on Uland, another human faction coming to what was once the land of the elves. Both are now dead, but Lord Keveak left a garrison in R'kilf, not large enough to maintain control, not small enough to be dispersed. They are the cause of the disorder that you have been hired to put right. I am unsure of what you mean by 'resistance' -- I'm sure the elves will resist your efforts if you work against them, and I have no knowledge of any resistance efforts by the citizens." Quote
Flipz Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 "Do you know who is in charge of Keveak's troops now that he is dead?" "I wonder if we should try to remain separated, at least when we first arrive in town. That way we can potentially investigate rivaling factions without arousing suspicion." Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 22, 2013 Author Posted July 22, 2013 "Lord Davril was killed at Bric'Bay, which means he was not left in R'kilf. So it is probably Lady Calaryl who is in command at R'kilf." "We stick together at least until we see the situation at the main gate." Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 22, 2013 Author Posted July 22, 2013 QM Note: My apologies; I'm having internet service problems and I'm also going to be out of town from the 25th to the 28th. Activity will probably be irregular until the 30th. Quote
