Seeing the end of the battle at hand, most of you decide to try to end it with your best skills. Ellaria, you revive Alexander and Ahvialyn, Boomingham, Barty appears to assist you, Sir Isaac strikes all the enemies with his sword and brings down the Pog swordsman, and Throlar, you take up a defensive position, although Barty is already in a better one. Then the rest of you all manage to miss your attacks.

Finally, it is not by any direct strike or magical spell, but by Bleeding inflicted by your sword, Boomingham, that the minotaur staggers forward, attempting to support himself with his axe, and begins to fall. And that is when, whether by the tossing of a bomb or the casting of a spell or the firing of a handcannon — you cannot tell — the room fills with smoke and the building shakes.

When the smoke clears enough for you to see, rubble fills the room and daylight comes in, and all you can see in the pile of stone and timber is some Gold, the dread pirate's axe, and one of his horns.

"Right. Well, Dwarf, I suppose I have to thank you. You've taught me a valuable lesson."

With a flick of the Opal still in his hand, Arthur expends 6 Ether to form a prison of ice around Throlar, then begins walking away.

"No more second chances. I'm that sort of a man."

As he opens the door of the building, Arthur turns to the others. "So, two options. One, you all waste time freeing him while I finish things up here. Two, you come with me, we run the Mopags out of town, and the dwarf makes his own way home. Your choice. Oh, and I'll need my stuff back." This last is said both to the diplomats with him and the troops waiting outside--he drinks a Grand Tonic while he waits for their answers.

Sir Shawe places the 104 gold he mugged from the pirate into the pile.

I don't need the pirate's gold.

With that, Nerwen throws a gold piece of her own in and makes five piles of 106 gold.

If one of you wants the axe rather than gold, say so now.

Before Nerwen can react, Arthur had formed a dwaf-icle out of the ambassador.

Speaking sharply to the young Mage she said.

Thoughtless child! Now is not the time to be playing games with magic. Like him or not, he is a member of this party and a hero of Heroica. Much as he might deserve such a punishment for disloyalty to the party, you walk the same road. He ought be with us as we stand against the Mopag and bring peace to this town. It is not your place to deny him that.

You will free him now.

And if that causes us to miss an opportunity against the Mopag, on your head it is.

Turning to the diplomats she said.

Yes my Lord Duke, it is over, we have won. Though I strongly recommend you continue to work together and with us against the Mopag hoplites.

Ellaria shakes her head at the odd turn of events. She picks up Indiacca's horn and examines it.

"Now what?" she asks her companions. "We were hired to make this town a place worthy of living again, and while the most imminent threat has been removed, I'm not sure we've reached a common agreement with the other factions. Can we really just tell them to behave and leave?"

I do not think the Pongcanis are the only threat. Arthur and Throlar both are concerned with the Mopags.

As for the leaders of the elves and the resistance, they have had plenty of opportunity to talk. Unless they need their dialogue narrated for them I expect they should have reached some grounds for trust now.

Since neither you nor Arthur have said anything about the axe, I will assume you do not want it.

Nerwen looks over at Throlar and sighs.

Does the boy not understand his actions have caused confusion and delay?

"Oh, now we're giving up on second chance?" Boomingham grumbles as Arthur leaves. "That boy." Boomingham shakes his head. "I haven't heard that he's much of a team player. Too bad, he's got a head for it. Nyx has always warned me to keep an eye on him. Not that I'm the largest fan of the dwarf either, of course, but..." A shrug. "I have talked with the Knights about the Mopag. They've have warned me that a full frontal assault would be foolish, but I at least agree with Arthur that they've got to leave town, assuming what you said about them is true. Seem like nasty conquerers. So, what's the call, Nerwen? The boy is heading to get his head lopped off, and we've got the dwarf frozen here. And a frontal assault isn't something any one seems particularly keen on, but with the boy going to them we can't really lure them into a trap. Not a pretty picture."

Alexander takes the golds in his pocket.

"Pfiuu, I have made bad view. Thanks Ellaria for the perfect healing." says gratefully the elven archer; for Alexander, Arthur's actions are a bit impulsive but he can't be, at least in part, in agreement for froozing the dwarf, he was too uncontrollable. Hearing Lord Boomingham's thoughts, he agree with him but remain silent leaving these important decisions to the more experienced heroes.

QM Note:

So to clarify, Nerwen gives up 1 Gold and keeps the Axe, Potion, and Remedy, Shawe gives up 104, and the other five heroes get 106 Gold? Don't forget that Calaryl also has the 70 Gold she gained in the battle.

OOC: I've retconned the amount of Ether I've spent imprisoning Throlar to a more reasonable amount, so it's reasonable if the party wants to free him or something. But I do not want to be in a party with him any longer. I'm not playing with him any more--Arthur's fed up, and so am I.

As far as loot goes, I'm fine with just Gold. I prefer it, actually.
