Ellaria is not the only one in the room to gasp in horror as the dwarf and the elf begin their brawl. She looks at their party leader beggingly.

"Nerwen, please make him stop!" she yells, referring to Thraelar. "He's only making things worse!"

Nerwen looks at the combatants. Throlar did not seem to be out of his depth.

She replied calmly to Ellaria

I understand your fear. But our ambassador needs to fight his own battles, and he is not overmatched. But I will watch carefully in case of interference by others.

Ellaria is shocked and confused at Nerwen's passive stance on the matter.

"But... shouldn't we be diplomatic towards all the factions until we find out which one of them is worthy of ruling this town? How can we ever convince the Brobric elves of our good intentions if we let this happen?"

Ellaria shakes her head, and wishes that the hot-headed dwarf had never been invited into the party to begin with.

The dwarf acted of his own accord, so his punishment may be that we too act of our own accord. He'll be getting a stern talking to either way once all is said and done. And if he looks likely to kill the elf, or the other way around..." Boomingham shrugs. "I may take action myself."

"I advise you to do what you think is the best course of action, my dear. Lead by example," Boomingham says with a kind smile. He sips on his tea and turns back to the bearded knight. "Would this warehouse of your's be accepting visitors? I've been told to make friendly with those who are occupying the town, and one way or another that seems to include you lot."

Ellaria blushes again, but not out shame this time. She's feeling pretty ticked off right about now.

"But I'm not the party leader! What are we, a bunch of headless chicken running around doing whatever we want to? No! We were hired for a mission, and we should work together to fulfill it! Dammit!"

She slaps her hand over her mouth as soon as she realizes what she has said. She then stares at Lawrence in bewilderment.

"It would not be wise to draw attention to yourself in this village."

"Fair 'nough. So, how are they doing? The elves, I mean, with rulin' the village and all. If it came down to it, are they good enough for this place, or would things be better with someone else in charge?"

Arthur glances toward the door, attempting to judge the general time (i.e. midday, dusk, etc.) by the color and angle of the light.

Boomingham himself looks a little abashed. "You're right, Ellaria. I spoke out of turn. Nerwen makes the final calls. It's just that, sometimes, when certain party members get hot headed," Boomingham points at the dwarf and then jerks his thumb stealthily over his shoulder at Arthur, "you need to be ready to act on your own. But as long as we have Nerwen, you're right. She makes the calls, and I'm out of line. All this damned herbal tea is making me crazy, I need some mead in my system." He laughs heartily.

"Stay out of this, this creep has insulted my people and I'm not going to stand down until he does."

So saying Throlar attacked Belanith from the back row with his mace,

"And I'm not your squire you idiot, don't lie in any misguided attempt to end a duel of honor!"

Nerwen steps behind Boomingham and takes the collar if his robes.

Heedless of the fact that he has two swords drawn and with a strength surprising for one of such a slight build, Nerwen pulls Boomingham backwards away from the fighters.

I said that I would prevent anyone from interfering and that includes you Lawrence.

I do hope that your healing has not made it harder for him.

Speaking in a lower voice to Ellaria and Boomingham she said,

I do not like this either, but the Naugrim is rash and untried, despite his age and life. He is also proud and, as you yourself know Sir Paladin, derives strength from his pride. I would not take that from him but rather have him learn humility as he grows in experience as a hero.

She sighs lightly

Your fears are likely well founded Ellaria, this conflict could endanger our relations with Lady Caladryl. But I suspect that things would be difficult anyway, everyone says that they are haughty and aloof.

Also,If Throlar is beaten or requires our help to beat this barfly it weakens our position, demonstrating our party's lack of prowess.

For those reasons I let the fight continue, even though I dislike it. I apologise for not speaking earlier, Ellaria, and clarifying both my misgivings and my acceptance of this.

Boomingham chews on his cheek. "I'll defer to your judgement in this case, but also make no secret of my disagreement. I'd prefer to be on good terms with the elves than have him learn very little." Boomingham turns a critical eye on Nerwen, but then gives a barking laugh. "I suppose I wasn't going to give the city to them anyway. Looks like I've made it a little harder on the kid, though." He shrugs. "Perhaps you will allow Ellaria and I to go talk to this Lady and apologize for our ambassador's rashness. I think we've both finished our teas and other business."

Nerwen raises a hand.

You are right, we will cover more ground here if we go our seperate ways. I know you are friends and wish to work together, but I have a different suggestion.

Lawrence, you are a strong shield, but if you run into trouble you will benefit from a skilled hand at your side. Take Alexander with you, his bow will do well. You are disreputable enough that you should be able to find the so called resistance without too much difficulty.

Ellaria, by that I do not mean that you are unskilled, but that your talents, like Lord Boomingham lean towards the defensive rather than offensive. If you would take Arthur and Avialyn and go to the elves. And do not worry about this conflict. I suspect that Baelanith is not important in the scheme of things. I am not asking you to lie, but I think you need not mention this unless they bring it up.

I will wait for the hard headed dwarf and then we shall see the Warlord. Do not fret Lawrence, I will let him know what I think about engaging in barroom brawls.

Does this plan suit you? I think it provides each group with a selection of abilities. And if any group runs into overwhelming trouble, they can send up a flare and hold out for help.

Speaking to Throlar she said,

Ambassador. If you are going to attack, at least be bold in your actions!

Alexander remains on the sidelines, leaving to the more experienced heroes the controll of the situation. When Nerwen begins to speak, Alexander listen carefully to the proposed plan and then he speaks "I'm ready to go with Master Boomingham in search of the resistance movement."

Although she is disappointed by having to separate herself from Boomingham, Ellaria nods and calls Arthur and Avialyn by her side.

"Very well. With Avialyn, we will have at least one elf with us. From what I've gathered, you prefer the company of your own kind."

She then left the tavern and headed towards the Meeting Hall, hoping that the other two would follow her lead.

Spotting Ellaria's subtle signal, Arthur passes 10 Gold and diplomatically extends a hand to the figure. "The name's Regulus, friend. If you hear of any opportunities that might be helpful to someone like me, let me know. If I had your name, I'd be happy to return the favor." Arthur waits for both the man's response and for Ellaria and Avialyn to be completely out of sight of the bar patrons for at least two minutes before following them.

QM Note:

How to interpret this... you can't affect those in a battle without being in the battle, and you can't leave a battle without Fleeing or using a Smoke Bomb, and you're not Hastened so you can't do stuff in the battle once you enter it this Round, so...
