In 2001 I found the 1973 396 'Thatcher Perkins' in a little town in Germany. I bought it for the original price of DM35,-!

In the same shop I also bought the 5580 'Highway rig' from 1986.

Few months ago, I went to a toy store that traditionally sells LEGO since I were a kid, to buy some new sets and I found a 6093 Flying Ninja Fortress in an excellent condition.

Yes, I bought it! (See my BS folder.)

Err.. Zorbas, did you happen to have a spare MISB copy of this? :look:

Or, does the Toy Store still carry anymore of such sets?

First time I see this thread pop up, but reading all these 'amazing discoveries' makes me rather envious.

This set isn't priced too bad on Bricklink.

Unfortunetaly I aghve never seen anything out of place in my stores, except a few batman sets like a year or two ago. I thougta about buying them to sell, but decided not too, adn it was a mistake as the Batman sets are now hard to find.

Unfortunately, this set was the last of the Mohicans... :cry_sad:

Well it wasn't in a store, but a market stall of collectables. I bought it when I saw it, a 1973 dolls house furniture piece called 273 'Bureau' and I only did so for it being so rare !

It was also MISB too !

Wow, you people finding the HP sets are lucky. Oldest set that I've seen still in a store is some of the canister sets from the horrible 2007 Barraki Bionicle lineup, which my local Target got when they came out and is STILL trying to sell to this day.

I found a Neptune Discovery Lab behind newer boxes on the bottom shelf at TRU in 1997/1998 (I forget which). It may not seem ridiculous now, but it blew my young mind back then. Didn't get it.

I found and brought in TK Max last year:

Jabbas Message

Jabbas Prize

Jabbas Palace

Jedi Duel

Twin-Pod Cloud Car

Final Duel 1

Final Duel 2

Jedi Defense 1

Jedi Defense 2

I got them all for last Christmas. Such a fun time! :pir-cry_happy:

Holy crap! You're so lucky!

I found the Jedi Defense sets and two or three other sets too once, but I can't remember when exactly, a view jears or so.

I want such thing again, cause the only store that does sell old sets near me only sells not much, not interesting and

highly over priced sets :hmpf_bad:

In 2006 I asked to go in the basement of a family owned toyshop, and found many old lego goodies.

I found MISB M-Tron, Monorail, Unitron, and other sets. It was quite a surprise to buy a set from a store that was older than I am.

I bought them all. I still have them up in my attic, all still MISB with their original pricetags. I may sell them one day.

King Leo's Castle (all the way back from 2001) was my most recent find (in 2008) - it still cost me $100, but it was worth it!

The oldest set I've ever found (that I remember off the top of my head) was....all the way back from the Armada line, in 2004. Nice find. :classic:

At an antique market I found an old cigarette box full of lego from the 60's/50's there where a collection of these bikes turned up along with these signs and a lovley Beetle amongst other things.

Beat that!

I walked into a church run op-shop and spied a 7250 ROTS clone scout walker from 2005 and it was only $2 m.i.s.b., but I have built it now to add to my Star Wars collection - the new swamp speeder will go nicely with it.

Well, it's not a store, but when I was in Krakow in Poland last July, I saw this set at a big weekend flea market, in a sealed but battered box. I didn't get it because it had no pieces I was interested in. Hmm. Going by the bricklink values, maybe I should've. It was only a couple of zloty. Brickset doesn't have an image of the 711 jeep, so here's the bricklink page:

http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID=7248

If anyone's in Krakow, it's probably still there.

Oldest sets I found in actual stores were probably the Harry Potters and Extreme Islands I saw in Rome last month. Didn't buy them. Bought Exo-Force.

Back in 2005, I bought a 6349 Vacation House (1988) and two 7864 12V Speed Regulators (1980) in a local toy store. They were just lying there on shelves for all those years...
