July 21, 201311 yr [snip] OH MY GOD,THE 2004 VERSION IS BIGGER THAN THE 2010 ONE AND IT STILL LOOKS LIKE A BUG IN COMPARISON!!! No but seriously though, thanks for the pic.
July 21, 201311 yr Wow that is enormous and it's only down the road from me. Will definitely be keeping an eye on it!
July 21, 201311 yr Well I'm going on a business trip thingy next month to the UK but this ain't nowhere near that and it'll probably be gone. I'd love to buy this thing...
July 22, 201311 yr Wow, too bad that isn't for sale around me. I'd make the drive to pick it up. Hey Pete, I've been following Dr. Dave's progress on his AT-AT and I tell myself one of these days I'll have my house projects done so I can build one. It is a truly amazing MOC.
July 26, 201311 yr Ummm, isn't it illegal for that guy to sell the model since he used cavegod's instructions? You know, making money off of someone else's work without asking? Or is that not a law in the UK?
July 26, 201311 yr Ummm, isn't it illegal for that guy to sell the model since he used cavegod's instructions? You know, making money off of someone else's work without asking? Or is that not a law in the UK? He's also selling pieces that he sourced himself, so I believe that it would depend on what conditions cavegod set that buyers of instructions would have to agree to. He's not trying to pass it off as his own work and he's not selling just the instructions. (And I assume he paid for the instructions from cavegod.)
July 27, 201311 yr He probably didn't even cover the cost of the bricks, so it is hardly making money off of someone else's work.
July 28, 201311 yr Ummm, isn't it illegal for that guy to sell the model since he used cavegod's instructions? You know, making money off of someone else's work without asking? Or is that not a law in the UK? Technically he is selling a finished model, which is allowed. I believe the fact that he did identify it as being related to Cavegod's design is sufficient for legal purposes as he is giving credit where credit is due. Just as you can buy a plastic model kit of the enterprise from the hobby store. build it up nicely, and then sell it as a completed model. if he were to start producing and selling these at a commercial volume it might be another matter. But what this seller is doing looks well within the boundaries by all appearances. Basically he is saying "I am selling this model that I built from Cavegod's instructions". Where it might also get weird is if he was selling Cavegod's instructions and a pile of unconnected bricks. Edited July 28, 201311 yr by Faefrost
