Hi everyone!

I'd like to present my latest modular building, the Sand Blue Townhouse. This colour combination reminds me of a seaside village (none in particular, just a general feel), and I've tried to capture this in the interior.

If it looks familiar, it is because it is. This townhouse was originally started at the same time as the Tan Townhouse last year, when the Modular Madness competition was announced. I was trying out different colour combinations and facade variations for the same building. It's only taken me a year to finally finish this one!

I included a fridge in the kitchen. This is one detail that I consistently forget about!

The blue and yellow "artwork" hanging on the wall is my attempt at capturing the sun over the ocean.

The seaside theme continues in the bedroom ...

And in the bathroom ...

For goodness sake, I don't think you have made a modular yet that I haven't adored. The staircases are nice and clean, and well separated from the main rooms. That dresser on the second floor is great. Where do you get the mirror piece? I like the deck on the top floor, but I think the roof looks a little strange being so tall and having a big square chunk taken out of it. I think an awning would look good up there. It's such a lovely house. Thanks for sharing!

Another beautiful modular from you! The sand blue and white colour scheme is great (I've been thinking of doing something in that colour). The interiors is impressive as usually. I like the paintings on the wall, and the sea theme in them. I like the dresser with the mirror, and the fridge cleverly hidden under the stairs. The terrace at the back is my favourite, I wonder what's the view from there? Great job (again)! :sweet:

That's a very beatifull house, Kristel! The Sand Blue is a lovely color for the house.

The interior is also very beautifull. The kitchen looks ready for use. The dresser with the mirror in bedroom is very nice. The walk-in shower makes for nice, but big, bathroom for a small house.

There is only one thing that I mis, and that is a lighthouse in the painting.

Love the façade, love the painting and love the way you managed to use the limited amount of space inside! The bathroom looks especially great. The sand blue color of the house really finishes the whole!

Thanks Johan!

Now you've gone and made me blush!

While I like the little balcony at the top, the chunk out of the roof is definitely my least favourite part of this building. I tried softening the effect with having timber rafters across it, but I couldn't make that work. I hadn't actually thought to use a solid awning. That might just do the trick!

The mirror sticker is from the sticker sheet for the Friends Beauty Salon.

Thanks Redhead! I imagine a minifig sitting on the deck looking at over the ocean. Not right on the beach, but close enough.

Thanks Vincent! A lighthouse could work. I tried a boat ... that definitely didn't!

Thanks, LT. One of the things I'd like to improve on is making the buildings a little more lived in, rather than looking like display homes.

Very beautiful house. The combination of sand blue and white really adds to the seaside feeling. It's nice how you designed the marine themed interior with brighter colours in the living room and more subdued colours in the bedroom. The painting would probably look even better with 2x2 round tile instead of a dish but it would be more difficult to place it in position without deforming the tiled background.

Well done!

This looks amazing and the interior is stunning. I really like the kitchen with the attention to details there - and I love how you fitted the fridge under the stairs. Nice detail. The bedroom looks clean and elegant - no dust bunnies under that bed.

The only thing I was going to mention as I was looking at this was the small wasted space on the upper floor, but then I realised I was critiquing it as a real house and not just a brilliant creation.

Fantastic job!

Once again another brilliant building from you! I love the colour scheme and the general façade. The interior is also very good, I love the artwork and the kitchen is so simple yet very detailed, very well done. The wooden deck out the back is lovely touch as well!

Well done (again) and happy building

Excellent work Kristel! Simple design but completely practical with flair. I like the deck out back and the upstairs bathroom. Not sure what you used for the mirror but that is a nice touch too. You should put all your mods together for a photo shoot. (If you haven't already dismantled them to make others...)

Your modulars always amaze me. So clean, so much detail, such good color combinations. This one is no exception, the town home with these colors would look right at home on the beach.

I really like the balcony on the top floor in the back, but I can see what you mean about maybe being a little to abrupt, softening it somehow would make it just perfect.

Keep on amazing us with your wonderful modulars.

Great stuff. While the interior is very well done the facade is my favourite aspect here. It is very well proportioned and profiled, and I love the colour combination, especially the dark blue accents, the protruding windows and the small entrance staircase. You really get the maximum out of this format, can't think of a more elegant building of that size.

Thanks for the kind words eurotrash, oirad, timmy, pilpod, Xcod119 and Andy! It really means a lot to me.

Thanks Kivi! I hadn't considered using a round tile. But you're right, it would end up with vertical lines showing, whereas the current version only has horizontal lines.

Thanks Wodanis! The mirror is a 4x6 tile with studs on three sides, with the mirror sticker from the Friends Beauty Salon. It's attached to the back wall rather than the dresser itself. You can see two grey bricks on the back wall, which bugs me! There is a solution using only sand blue parts, but that was going to be quite expensive.

This is the only fully built modular that I have at the moment. And my boxes of white and tan bricks are just about empty as my daughter has been using them for Creator houses.

Thanks ER0L! 16-stud wide modulars are definitely my favourite and I like the challenge of making a (mostly) complete building in the limited space. Having said that, there's two 32-stud wide WIPs sitting on the table at the moment.

Thanks Denes!

Another beautiful creation from your hands.

The painting on the wall at something extra, and the choice of colors are calm and nice.

Thanks Chocolatecake!

Another great piece of work from the Modular master. Sixteen wides are definitely your forte.

I love the color scheme. The colors do work well together, but sand blue is just a beautiful color anyway. I really like the white curved bricks used by the front entryway. That really caught my eye.

I think the thing that sets you apart is not only great exteriors, but fantastic interiors also. Very clean, very detailed.

For your sun, they do make the 2x2 tile with a new mold now. It has a round circle underneath in the center (similar to how the dish is) instead of the old cross pattern. Not every tile has that new mold, but I've seen it has been coming out in newer sets, so maybe down the road that might be a change to make (if desired). Otherwise, the dish works well there. Captures the sunset very well.

I really like the use of the mirror sticker. Very creative. I think my daughter might have that set..if not, I know I need to get that sticker sheet.

The ship painting with the tiles around it looks great. I hadn't considered doing that before, but it doesn't look bulky at all.

I love the rear deck a lot. Very fitting and good use of space. I like the idea of the balcony too. I would keep the upper roof going across a plate at the same level, but then have a pole (or stack of 1x1 rounds or something) in the corner to keep it"up" and that would allow the sides to be open, but still have a less abrupt end to the roof-line. I've seen plenty of apartments here in the states like that. My last apartment was like that actually. All open balcony, but still covered on the roof. It was quite nice on rainy days, because you could still be outside and not get wet.

All in all, the praise doesn't stop. I follow your posts to look back at in the future for inspiration.

Can't wait to see more.
