Ape Fight Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 At the Blogsite TLCB is a interview with me for the serrie Master Mocers . http://thelegocarblo...3-vfracingteam/ Excellent interview VF! I l love reading about how great builders got into Lego and how they took it to the next level. Definitely well deserved - this ship is masterful! Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Wow, really well done. Congratulations on a new masterpiece! Quote
Lakop Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Will you ever do a battleship of some description ? H Quote
rm8 Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 (edited) You have done it! I am not big fan of boats, but this one is huge, detailed, well colored. One word - COOL! More I like that you have so much patience and effort to finish it. Edited July 27, 2013 by rm8 Quote
czl663 Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 impressive! Very nice indeed! Hope to see more pics of details. Quote
Phoxtane Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Brilliant work! It's always weird to see how bulbous ships look out of the water... Quote
Someonenamedjon Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 (edited) I had to look up 35 kg = 77 lbs... and peed my pants again! OH MY GOSH! That is a little less than I weigh! Edited July 28, 2013 by Someonenamedjon Quote
skriblez Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 This thing is awesome and i really don't know what to say other than bravo! Quote

maxxens Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Like your previous ship again very well done and of course congratulations for the main page article :) Quote
Wedge09 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 That's awesome  Great work, you recreate very well the original boat, full of details Quote
Legogal Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Congratulations! Superb details take your breath away....railings, tire bumpers with diagonals, colors so perfect, ... Wow! Quote
Anio Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Looks good ! However (extracted from the frontpage) : "He invented this building style for ships and seems to be the only one using it, though probably not for long!" I doubt it. Technically speaking, using studless beams to build the hull does not make much sense. Using regular bricks and inverted slopes would be much more logical here. Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Totally mind blowing AWESOME creation 'VFracingteam', plus congrats on being front paged too......Brick On ! Quote
Laservampire Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Did you hear that? It was the sound of my mind being blown :-O Quote
dr_spock Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Most impressive. Crazy amount of Technic lift beams. They do look good for the hull. Maybe it is the rounded ends on those beams. Quote
jluck Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Speechless, this is truly amazing! Your style is innovative and your execution is spot on! Quote
ManInATopHat Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 That's sick, and incredibly detailed! Great work! Quote
Edwin Korstanje Posted July 30, 2013 Author Posted July 30, 2013 I wanted say thanks to all of you for the great reactions so far. Quote
Blakbird Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 I doubt it. Technically speaking, using studless beams to build the hull does not make much sense. Using regular bricks and inverted slopes would be much more logical here. Personally, I disagree. Bricks falls apart too easily, especially at this kind of weight. I think the Technic design makes the hull much stronger than it would otherwise be, and it looks great as well. Quote

The method used is good for this model and makes sense to me. using normal bricks would probably make it heavier, fragile and not as smooth, it would maybe be more time consuming also. These ships are well constructed, accurate and look excellent. I would have tried to use studded panels and maybe failed miserably but I will never know. However, I will try something similar to this but on a much smaller scale. Moving on for a moment, and this maybe become another topic, I remember the lego fire boat and police boat many moons ago. Lego have never really got to grips with water based models. H Edited July 30, 2013 by Horace T Quote
