Kintobor Posted September 16, 2013 Author Posted September 16, 2013 I'm assuming these are not the reinforcements, just the next wave of battle? No, these are the reinforcements. If you had beaten the first wave early, you would have had a few rounds to prepare yourselves. You guys are doing good! "Costello, what do you know about this man?" "Other than the fact that the thing's jacked up on Exterium and deadly to a fault, not much. Whatever was left of the poor sap who's beneath that armor is gone. It's now an obedient killing machine." ROUND SIX OF THE MESS HALL BATTLE!!! Party Order Sorrow vs. Iron Knuckle- Damage Damage (42/2-6=15 damage) Elgar vs. Spear A- Aim (11-2= 9 Damage. Badly Poisoned!) Grimwald heals Sorrow- No heal (-1 ether) Sorrow vs. Iron Knuckle- Damage Shield ( Spear man B and C Assassinated!) Em vs. Spear Man C A- Shield (Iron Knuckle, Spearman A, Iron Knuckle. 7+14+2=23 damage. 23-10=13 damage Iron Knuckle. 23-2=21 damage Spear Man A) Spear Man A: -10 Damage Sorrow notches an arrow into his longbow, firing it at the Iron Knuckle. The arrow hits, not even leaving a dent in the armor, as the knight charges Sorrow and smashes it's sword's hilt into his rib cage, sending him back. Elgar manages to keep one of the spear man at bay, poisoning him in the process. Grimwald attempts to heal Sorrow, only for his luck to fall out. Sorrow takes a risky move, firing arrows at all the enemies, taking two of the guards out. The Iron Knuckle raises it's shield, blocking the attack. Em fires his arrow at the remaining guard, forcing him back. He takes this opportunity to fire twice at the Iron Knuckle to draw its attention away from Sorrow, desperate for help. He hits it twice between the thick plating, forcing it to stop it's onslaught towards Sorrow. The knight grabs a hold of each arrow and rips them out of it's body, blood dripping onto the floor. It would take more than that to take this hulking warrior. "..." Endgame Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 No, these are the reinforcements. If you had beaten the first wave early, you would have had a few rounds to prepare yourselves. You guys are doing good! We defeated them during Round 5, though. Would we have to kill them on Round 4 so they wouldn't come on Round 6? I grunt as the Iron Knuckle's sword comes down. I down a Grand Potion and attack the Iron Knuckle, back. Quote
Kintobor Posted September 16, 2013 Author Posted September 16, 2013 We defeated them during Round 5, though. Would we have to kill them on Round 4 so they wouldn't come on Round 6? No matter what happened, the reinforcements would have come. You would have had to run into them if you'd gone down the corridor, and Costello needs protection. Sorry if this sounds a little forced. Endgame Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 (edited) Ah, so in other words, if we killed them earlier, up until Round 6 would just be a grace period, correct? "Costello, is this their trump card? Or will we have more Knuckles to contend with?" Edited September 16, 2013 by Endgame Quote
Kintobor Posted September 16, 2013 Author Posted September 16, 2013 Correct. "Costello, is this their trump card? Or will we have more Knuckles to contend with?" "Last I remember, the men mentioned there was only one Iron Knuckle on premise. Just keep your cool and we might make it out of here!" Kintobor Posted September 19, 2013 Author Posted September 19, 2013 (edited) Removing the Iron Knuckles Helmet, Sorrow looks upon what appears to be a woman in her mid twenties. A rather large scar crosses her eye, but other than that she seemed rather pretty for her age. Blood runs down her head and nose as she coughs blood up. She grimaces as she looks at herself, her hands shaking violently, yet her voice somehow collected. "*cough* You the one who fired an arrow through this armor? Well mate, you must have one good aim." The party's minds race back to the two salesman who they met earlier. Notable names include Connor Etifried, a mage who happened to have close ties to the Ziegfrieds, and Lydia Corenell, a Lion knight known for her brutal battle style and no nonsense attitude. "Lydia... oh god... " "By the gods..." "Costello... you bastard. You let them do this to me. You helped them perfect that wretched brew... how could you..." Costello's face begins to swell up in tears. "Lydia... listen... I had no choice, they were going to-" "I hate you Costello Watt. I hate your guts. You said we'd find a way out, and what happened to me? I'm a freak! A monster thanks to you! Leave me be, Costello. You have nothing to say." Lydia wheezes and pants heavily. She was clearly on the brink of death. Edited September 19, 2013 by Kintobor Quote
Emjajoas Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Em glanced between the two, then at Sorrow. "Can we stop her bleeding for long enough to get this story straight?" He looked down at Lydia, then turned to Costello, disgust in his eyes. "So you perfected it," he muttered, crossing his arms. "How much did you perfect?" Quote

He looked down at Lydia, then turned to Costello, disgust in his eyes. "So you perfected it," he muttered, crossing his arms. "How much did you perfect?" "Do you think I had a choice?! It was either assist them or end up like Archibald! For the love of Ennoc, I had no choice! Do you think I like being tossed out of my house, into a cell, and forced against my will to create something I don't want to? If I had intended to assist in the creation of that elixir, I would have had it done in half the time it took me to actually do so! I tried Lydia... I tried..." Lydia says nothing, and avoids eye contact with Costello all together. Quote

Endgame Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 My eyes dart between the two. "How do you two know each other? And Lydia, did they alter you beyond your mind, or did they have to physically change you to make you into an Iron Knuckle? Hopefully the armor can just come off and you can resume your daily life..." If Grimwald's healing doesn't work, I try a Grand Potion then a Phoenix Essence to get Lydia back up. Quote
Kintobor Posted September 19, 2013 Author Posted September 19, 2013 "How much?" Em repeats. "How much did you perfect? How many are enslaved?" "Like hell I know! I made a single beaker full of Exterium, and you need at least 500ml for the process to work. Considering the steps it takes, there's probably only been three made within the past seven days. It seems we have half of one, most likely used to rebuff the control on... but the other two... it'll take them a while to replicate said elixir." "Do you know where they keep the potion? We must destroy it before more people are enslaved" "Whenever I made progress, they took it from me, and shortly thereafter threw me back into that dingy cell. I have no idea where they'd keep such a thing." Grimwald tries to heal Lydia to a more comfortable level of health. Grimwald manages to ease the bleeding, but it does little to stop Lydia from slipping. My eyes dart between the two. "We were shoved into the same prison cell, Costello, Connor and me. One day the guards came and... did things to me. There's other enhancing chemicals within my system. Pain reduction, stamina boosting, all sorts of crap. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more before Costyourlife perfected his recipe for *cough* mind control." Sorrow attempts to give Lydia the Grand Potion and the Phoenix Essence, but she merely spits out the liquids. "I don't want this, Assassin. I've done who knows what. I feel dishonored and disgraced." "Lydia, your acting foolish! Those chemicals could potentially be flushed from your system! Let me help-" "And let you do things to me like this stupid Order has! Go to hell Costello." The alchemist gives a look of melancholy to the party as he continues to hoist the object up. Connor stands in silence as he watches the scene unfold, looking nervous.
