medib Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 According to this post: Lugnet Posting Thomas will make its debut in Duplo. Let us all hope that Thomas will make his system debut shortly after, not that I'm a big fan of Thomas. ;) Ben Medinets
The Middleman Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I wonder why they don't realize that AFOLs/TFOLs want airports and trains more than 3-year-olds, and will pay more for them as well.
WesternOutlaw Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 Agree. We've been wanting Thomas for years and now it's being wasted on Duplo. Doesn't Lego realize that the 4 and under group is saturated with Thomas toys from various brands. A Sodor city for the AFOL would have been one hell of a theme. Another disappointment today...
sam89 Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 There's some pics here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=117989 I would have loved this when I was young. Thomas the Tank Engine and Lego all rolled in to one :$
David85 Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 I wonder why they don't realize that AFOLs/TFOLs want airports and trains more than 3-year-olds, and will pay more for them as well. No shit. I know that Lego is a KIDS company, but when did they become a baby company? Just look at the great Duplo sets... There is a 4 set Airport theme. We only get an overpriced, small megablocks, Legend Airport. They get a true town with a Post Oficce and other sets. We continue getting Police State City! They get a farm theme, now I doubt a System farm theme would sell well with kids, but you never know. Then they get a great Train theme too. Yes Stsyetm has some great Train sets, but not enough. I don't need 100 train engines!
Wolf04 Posted February 20, 2005 Posted February 20, 2005 LEGO will never release Thomas the Tank Engine system sets. Lets face it, the show is entended for kids, so the sets are oriented towards that age group. While I still watched the show when I was 10 - 12, the sets are not for that age group. It's the same with Dora and bob the builder.
The Middleman Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 I don't think anyone wants Thomas system, but we do want new trains and airports more than 3-year-olds.
medib Posted February 21, 2005 Author Posted February 21, 2005 Ok I confess.... I really don't want system Thomas, but I wish that Lego would put the same amount of creative energy into System sets as they do Duplo. I don't mind the BNSF train engine, its just that I wish Lego would do other engines and other rolling stock. Ben
Orlego Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 I would like to see Lego do more rolling stock sets. We have the new BNSF but we never had new rolling stock. I don't understand it but Lego did the same thing with the Super Chief. The Loco was out for a while before Lego released the passenger cars. Hopefully we will see new rolling stock before the end of the year.
Jipay Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 Well we had two new trains last year. or more one and a half :-D Eh wait it was two years ago actually *wacko* Damn, long time without a train set. Because the loco is of course not a real train set :-D
sam89 Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 We'll be getting a new S@H Exclusive Container Wagon this year. You know who the news is from ;)
The Middleman Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 We'll be getting a new S@H Exclusive Container Wagon this year. You know who the news is from ;) AWESOME! I just hope we'll get more train stuff too!
DoubleT Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 He he it be like things use to be...The set will be great, and i wont get it ;)
WesternOutlaw Posted February 21, 2005 Posted February 21, 2005 This is what I mean by a Thomas theme: Kid's Expo Buildings, mills, bridges, the whole 9-yards - wouldn't even need to be Thomas but a train building/structure theme. Any more details re. the new exclusive?

I don't need 100 train engines! LEGO Duplo sets are in direct competition with other toys in that age range. For example, Little People. Take a look over in the toddler section of Toys R Us. You will be surprised how many action figures and play sets are available for the 2-6 range. Bryan
billybob Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 what wagon are you talking about?pics?info?anything? :oD :oD :oD :oD :oD :oD
medib Posted February 25, 2005 Author Posted February 25, 2005 I don't know the link, but there was a yellow bi-level cargo set that was posted on bricklink that was hinted on as the new car for this year. But this could have been largely heresay. :'( Personally, I would love it if they discontinued the Cargo Train 4512, and then sold the green box car by itself. *satis* Ben Medinets also: 50th post... woohoo :D
WesternOutlaw Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Here's a link to pics and discusion re. a double-stack container car: Yellow Double-Stack Not sure if this is what the previous message refers to. In addition, I read a message some time ago about a yellow container car with grey plates atop (the picture appeared to be rendered). Personally, I like the Cargo Set, in fact, it's one of my favorite train sets. I esp. like the box car (would buy a few more if offered as a single set). The engine isn't bad either, and the set gives you a point (1st to offer) and some nice green bricks. I would recommend as a great starter set.
keetongu Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 Oh pooh!I want Thomas for regular Duplo!(Oh,Brickster you used the bad h word,David you used two bad words the bad a word and the very bad s word, and Jipay you used the bad d word,I am ashamed of you three, moderaters read this! >:( :( |:| What do you have to say for yourseles?)Why waste Thomas on stupid Duplo?Good ridents!!!!!
jonfett Posted July 25, 2005 Posted July 25, 2005 What the..? *wacko* You brought up a 5 month year old thread to make a pointless comment about people using mild curses?? You need a new hobby mate, or a job. Think I'll lock this one now. Jon.
