God, where do you live? That's never happened in my cinema.

Wow really? This happens quite frequently if the movie was good. And there were such halarious parts of the movie, you just can't help but laugh out loud! :-D

I would urge anyone who hasn't seen the film because of preconceptions to go and see it. I haven't seen it either and have to wait till the end of the month, so coming from me, it's impartial advice. Everyone has different opinions, and just because a bunch of critics loathed it, doesn't mean you will. Besides, most of these critics will be into 'talky' films with 'a message' not 'wow, look, a bunch of gigantic robots that transform into cars and stuff' movies. And it's Transformers.

Exactly. Most movie critics very rarely give movies like this good reviews. If its not the next "Citizen Cane" then they don't care for it. I think many are taking this way to serious. Its a movie about a childrens cartoon and toys. Except it for what it is.

....And again, it was great. X-D You won't be disapointed Brainbox. Its well worth the wait till the end of the month.

Well, the laughing during the film, yes we have that. But there's never been any cheering after the films I've been to. Which means it's a 'problem' with either a) the films I go to see or b)my area in general.

Oh, I'm sure it is. I just wish I didn't have to, especially hearing all the feedback State-side. Still, I'll enjoy it all the more when it does come out. Godd things come to those who wait, after all.

Saw the movie Tuesday night in a sold-out crowd.

AWESOME.

Also, if anyone wants to find me a 6-inch Titaniums Cheetor....

you know they had a transformers movie in 1986. The plan was with transformers large fan base, the creators figured they could make a movie in which all the early transformers died, so the kids would want to buy the new series of transformers, (the heroes). All it did instead was make the kids angry that all their favorite transformers had been killed off. Needless to say they didnt buy the new line. heres a wiki on it.

I didn't think the '86 Movie was that bad. Well, except Wheelie! ;-)

And we all know Prime comes back eventually. Besides, I quite like Ultra Magnus.

Sure, all the old favourites died- Ratchet, Ironhide, Wheeljack, Prowl, Windcharger, Prime, Megatron (kind of), Skywarp (kind of), Thundercracker (kind of), the Insecticons (kind of), Starscream and, in fact, pretty much every other original character. But Bumblebee and Jazz do escape from Unicron. Actually that's a point, what happens to them?

I love the 86 movie, but i was devestated back then when prime died :'-( I watched the movie a few months ago and even now 20 years on the animation and story still puts alot of todays cartoons to shame.

I was the opposite.

When the robots FINALLY started actually getting hit by laser blasts and then when they ACTUALLY started dying... wow. I was blown all the hell away, going back to see the movie 2 or 3 more times over the summer.

It was frustrating watching the cartoon on TV and seeing lasers flying all over the place, followed by noone getting hit, save for like a pile of rocks getting hit and coming down on someone (a classic and annoying "anti-violence" trick in cartoons of the day lol).

Sure, we knew it was all just a convenient way to spark interest in the newer guys... didn't matter. It was the most awesomest way to do so. Placing Transformers into a more realistic world, where there's actually consequences and loss in war.

This new movie? Meh. It's Independence Day, just not as well written. (Yet retaining that similar, very NOT serious feel).

And for being so very long, there's no excuse that the only Decepticon who had a recognizably different character from the rest was Frenzy.

Considering that the Decepticons were supposed to be prepared, trained and versed in the art of war, they weren't very good. Then again, neither were the Autobots, so it kind of evened itself out.

Still, I loved the G1 cartoon, at least from the episdoes I've seen. I picked up these two videos for about

LOL! Wow. I guess this explains why you weren't happy with the movie. IF your upset with the realisim of an 80's cartoon, then iguess there's just no pleasing you. To each his own.

How is it you don't feel the movie wasn't serious? Cause of all the humor? (it was loaded with it X-D )

I felt all the decepticons were reconizable. Though frenzy was more so than others. Though i agree with Ultra prime that more personality was needed forthe decepticons. Though they were very intimadating and evil on screen. Maybe thats allthe personality Bay wanted them to have.

Oh, no no no no no. There's definitely ways to please me. Like Skyfire dying (and never being resurrected!) in the early cartoons.

Older cartoons like Starblazers and Battle of the Planets pleased me too, people died and never returned. And they had "ending" episodes.

The 80's cartoon Exo-Squad had it's moments too, humans dying sometimes a few at a time.

I dunno, Transformers had lasers flying everywhere, but noone dying (until the movie!). Same with GI Joe... they'd shoot down a sky full of Cobra planes, then just as the scene was changing, they'd draw in all these little pilots in parachutes lol. The old Transformers movie tossed that child-protective bullcrap down the toilet and showed fighting = bad news for someone.

It's not exactly calling it anal, wanting just a simple, basic truth like that to be conveyed when the subject is metal giants in the middle of a war.

What was your point, anyhow? That because some things in the 80's were goofy, that it excuses things sucking?

So you're saying the new movie is allowed to suck because Bay's and most movies these days are just out for a quick buck piles of advertising, CGI nonsense and undeserved hype?

I can't attest to the movie, since I have yet to see it, but if there's one thing I've noticed is that they don't skimp on writers. The other day on TV they were showing the end battle between Megatron (Galvatron) and Optimus. It was a new series, I think post-2000. I have to say the animation was superb, and the the dialogue was...well it blew me away. It was actually dramatic, and at times a little bad-megablocks. It blew away most American AND Japanese animations from the past 10 years, and really brought about that sense of an epic battle, which is hard to do these days, and even harder to do right.

I get what your saying about old cartoon battles. I do remember GIjoe trucks/planes/tanks being destoyed shot down, and ever time a parachute was deployed. :-P No one ever got hurt.

My point wasn't to excuse anyhting sucky cause 80's cartoons did. What i was getting at is that since you were tearing apart the 80's cartoon for its misperfections, i know understand why you didn't like the movie. It gets to a point were you just need to acept it for what it is. A cartoon. As for the movie you also need to to accept it for what it is. A movie based on a childrens cartoon and toys. As soon as you accept that, then maybe, just maybe, you'll be able to enjoy the movie (and others like it).

By your cridisism, you seem to think that this should have been an made into an academy award winning film. But it wasn't. It was made to entertain. It did just that. Did it break the mold? In some cases yes (CGI) but in others no. I don't beilve this was the best acting ive seen. But it wasn't bad either.

You stilldidn't answer my question. How was the movie not serious?

--S7 underwear when the secret agents had to strip down.

--Military was your usual, patriotic drivel.

--Goofy, bumbling, keystone cops type law enforcement characters (overdone cliche).

--Potty humor with dogs whizzing on robots, robots whizzing on people, etc etc...

--Most of the human characters were "goofy".

The whole thing felt like it was trying to be humorous every 2 seconds.

Then all of a sudden, some Citroen car commercial busted in near the end and people are getting killed.

Anyway,

'Transformers' Michael Bay Lays On Blame

tform10.jpgSo blockbuster helmer Michael Bay is very, very angry at two of the producers of his latest Transformers, Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto. How do I know this? Because Bay wrote an extraordinary screed about them on his blog last Friday. And then he removed the posting shortly after. An eagle-eyed source saw the original, forwarded it, and I've confirmed it's genuine. (Update: Michael thought better of it and took it down," a source close to the pic emailed me tonight. "Do you have to keep it up?" Well, don't blame me, blame Google.) This is one of the most nakedly honest insights into a director's personality that I've ever come across. As well as a reminder that success in Hollywood has many fathers, but failure is an orphan. How much you wanna bet, now that Transformers has made $36 mil in 36 hours, all is forgiven?:

LET'S GET SOME FACTS STRAIGHT

Your exactly right. It was humours. Just cause of that dosen't mean that it wasn't taken seriously. You need comedy in a movie like this. Was it over done? In my opinion no. Why? cause it all worked toeghter quite well. From both the bots, and the humans.

(Desanto would've done this movie goooood.)

Then why is Desanto trying to take credit for writing a story he didn't like in the first place? To be honest, if think if the die hard fans did this movie the way they originaly wanted, it really would have sucked. It would have been a sctrectched 2 hour long live action movie of the first episode. Yay. :-/

Checked out Cibertron.com tosee how some of the die hard, and G1 fan base likes the movie. It looked like 95% of them turned a 180, and thought it was awsome.

That was great! I love the music in it! I'd love to be able to down load it into my Ipod.

My girlfriend just picked up Leader Class Optimus prime for my birthday! He's great! I love the fact that he has rubber tires too. My only gripe isthat in Peterbuilt mode his gun sticks out the back. Can't really hide it.

Wohh....Just saw this...

Is the gun a part of the arm? As in, can you not just take it off and store it separately?

Your image isn't working, btw.

I saw this earlier in the week. Looks nice, but why is his head sticking out of the front of the tank in vehicle mode?

Thegun can't be seperated. It folds back when not in use. It looks like to me, that they didn't transform him properly. You'll also notivce in the same pic that the front farrings that cover the treads aren't folded forwards either.

Oh yeah, I didn't notice that. It's even worse as it looks like it might be an official picture.

Strange you can't remove the gun from Prime. You'd think he'd want to put it down sometime.
