As you can probably tell from my avatar, I'm a big Transformers fan. :classic:

My favorite series would have to be the old 80's G1 show (even though I wasn't around at the time, I have lots on DVD).

As for the Bay movies, definitely not my favorite movies, but I don't hate them as much as some people do.

Also, what do people here think of the Armada series (or the rest of the Unicron trilogy)? I usually don't really like the Japanese animation style, but I actually thought Armada was very good.

Don't care for Armada at all, but its still not as bad as the energon series. Most of the Japanese series were darn near unwatchable. Terrible stories, music, lame diaolge, overly cheezy, and rediculous alt modes. The Cybertron series was proabably the best of the Japanses series, bust still falls short of anything from G1, Animated, or TF: Prime.

The new movie, Dark of the Moon, was pretty good too. It was exactly what I expected anyway - a visual effects-laden movie about giant transforming robots beating the scrap out of each other while Shia LaBeouf is being the idiot that he is on the side with a chick that's way too hot for him. In fact, he and his unrealistic relationship is probably the only thing I didn't like about the movie. Well, that and the nearly complete lack of a plot, but hey, that's Bay for ya. I'm not bashing Bay, it's just what I have come to expect from him. That said, I'm very glad to hear that he and LaBeouf wont be involved with the next movie(s) while Spielberg stays and Jason Statham might take LaBeouf's place!

What are you talking about the movie having no plot? It was quite clear. The space race between the Russian's and American's was due to trying to find out about what crashed landed on the moon. The decepticons worked with humans to keep them off the moon and had them reveal the crash to the Autobots so they could revieve Sentinel Prime so they could continue with their plan.

Armada? It was one of my favourites! I actually watched almost every episode from RID and Armada, but then Energon ruined it for me...

Glad to see someone shares my opinion! I didn't like Energon either, and by Cybertron I had just stopped watching.. :sadnew:

RID was pretty good too, I don't remember much about it, but I have some moments and characters indented in my memory...

I'm also curios about Transformers: Prime, but I can't find it anywhere in the UK (on TV or Internet, no DVDs either). :sceptic:

Just watched the new movie and I thought it was quite entertaining. The story was better than the second one, I guess...

Still, I never pay attention to the story in Transformers movies since I get distracted from the awesomeness. What does bother me though is the randomness of that Gould guy, and the Wreckers, Dino/Mirage, and Wheeljack could've gotten a bit more attention.

The appeal of TF3 was really the big battle at the end though, wasn't it? And there was some great action there, so I'm happy! I do agree that some of the newbies could have got a little more attention though.

To wade in on the Animated thing... I really liked Animated! Some of the designs were just wonderful, and the whole thing was so in-jokey it was unbvelievable! The Allspark Almanacs are great reads for that alone!

I believe TF: Prime is premiering over here in the UK on September 5th on Cartoon Network. Not that I can get that channel, so I'll be tracking them down on the Internet.

I just had some amazing luck discovering that. :classic:

I noticed an episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold was on Cartoon Network (a channel I usually never watch), I thought I'd check it out. Then when the ad's came on, I was just about to switch the TV off when I suddenly heard: 'Starting next saturday, Transformers:Prime...'

I'll defiantly be tuning in.

Don't forget Shockwave. He was originally supposed to be the main villain of DOTM, then Bay decides to drop Sentinel in and make him the main badguy. :wall: Wasn't Sentinel enough of a jerk already? As Shockwave would say: "ILLOGICAL."

I shall have a look, thank you! :classic:

In fairness though... Leonard Nimoy! Sure, some more Shocky would have been great, but I'm more than happy to trade that for extra Nimoy, even if he was being all evil.

Hey, does anyone know if places in the US still sell this model of Soundwave? I've tried searching for it on Amazon, but they've sold out, it seems...

It does seem to be a little hard to find now... However, I had a bit of a search for you, and I turned up this one on Toy Arena. It's perhaps a little on the pricier side, but I think it's quite reasonable given that it's not always easy to find one. I'd have a look on eBay as well, just in case.

Hope it helps! :classic:

Heh, it's cheaper than Amazon's asking price for a new one. I'll be sure to check eBay, but thanks a lot for your help, man.

For another general question, what do people think of the Voyager-Class DoTM Shockwave and the RotF Ravage? I've never actually bought a Transformers figure before, and I feel it's about time I get at least one as a fan of the line in general, haha.

I'm not really a big fan of the newest Transformers toys, they just seem to unnecessarily complicated and cheaply made.

But, one that I really like is

, he's not perfect, but he has loads of references to other 'Formers stuff.

Also, a friend recently gave me a 2006 'classics' Bumblebee. I just wish he was a generous with his Lego.

That's not true. It was the idea from everyone (Bay and Co. and Hasbro) in the begining that Sentinel Prime was going to be the main vilian. They anounced Shockwave as the main vilian to throw everyone off the trail since they couldn't say SP as his trechery was a key plot twist. The only problem with this was Shockwaves character was way over hyped to the point that he didn't live up to the expecations that everyone had for him.

You could also check Crave, which is a great place for Transformers, SW figures, and soon Lego! :sweet:

So...

Did anyone else catch the UK premiere of Prime?

It's now on every weekday at 6pm, on Cartoon Network.

I actually found myself kind of enjoying it. :classic:

The animation's pretty good, it's not the best, but it's still good.

The characters themselves are good, too. I don't really like the kids, but I'll get used to them. :sadnew:

Ratchet is awesome.

I'll definitely keep watching, I'm interested in where they'll take the series...

I'm a bit annoyed that the killed off Cliffjumper in the first two episodes.

I was looking forward to the return of a character that hasn't appeared for a while. :sadnew:

You Brits only got the premier recently? It's been running even in Canada for a couple of months now, but to be honest, whenever I do catch an episode, it's always the first couple of them.

Biggest piece of garbage I have ever seen.

I am glad to have seen it, now to wait a couple of years for the promised reboot, hopefully from a director who knows what a plot is and writters who are not retarded and won't give us stereotyped raciest characters in 2 movies, transformer balls, horny midget transformers, traitorous primes, a lead female whose acting is being a Victoria secret model, megatron taking orders, dragged out pointless scenes, stupid slow motion running, evil optimus, and no story.

Yeah, it only started on Monday. I've been waiting for it for ages. :sadnew:

I assume you're talking about the Bay films?

I'm also wondering what the future of Transformers is. Prime probably won't go on for that long.

Transformers is defiantly a big money-maker (especially with the toys), so I doubt it'll be too long before a new director takes over the franchise....

Yeah bays movies, not that prime is any good.

Hasbro said and I think bay also said 3 is it, afterward the movies will be rebooted.

If you reply use spoilers, I ain't getting whinged at for spoilers.

Given it seems as if optimus really killed megatron there is only two options, a new leader or unicron, then again if a 4th was made its bay so maybe there is a huge explosion and suddenly megatron lives as a zombie.

I have read that it is not so much of a reboot as a new storyline, with the same Transformers but a new human protagonist and such. I think the idea is for the Transformers like Optimus and Co to remain looking the same so that they clearly link to this trilogy, but a whole new plotline without Witwicky and Bay.

As to deaths of Tranformers, the way these films are it seems nobody truly ever dies. It took them all of one second to reboot Megatron in the second one, so who knows.

The U.S. premiered TF: Prime nearly a year ago. Were about to start our third season this Saturday! Its such a great show. Excellent stories and great characters. You can really feel the connection and even tension between all of the characters. Great stuff.

Oh stop it. Get out of your 80's dream land of a G1 re boot. Doesn't matter who the new director is its never going to happened. You need to get through your thick head that things need to evolve for a new audience. No its not perfect, but nothing is.

And a "promise" of a re-boot? There has never been such a promise. Just something the people who didn't like the movies keep telling themselves in their head is going to happen.

At this point nothing has been set in stone. They've been talking about a new story line, new director, to Bay and Co. coming back for another 3 movies.

I wouldn't mind Bay coming back. Over all i think he did a good job with what he had to work with. I do think he missed out on some good opportunities with DOTM but hey, you can't make everyone happy.

I would have liked to see Bumble Bee and Barricade have a show down of some sort, Mirage/dino have more screen time, and Starscream killed by an Autobot instead of Sam.

As far as TF deaths, the movies aren't the first time TF have come back from the dead. Tf characters have been revived in several TF comics, and they even did it in the orignal 86 movie. (granted they were turned into new characters, but revived nothing less).

If there is a fourth movie, I'd like to see Galvatron come and rip Optimus to shreds, and then Rodimus appear and do the same thing back.

Ya, but thats been done already.

I think it would be kinda cool if Sentinel Prime was resurected as Nemisis Prime. If Rodimus does make it into the 4th, then maybe have him lead a rogue league of Autobots. Autobots that have there own adjenda and don't want to take orders from optimus.

One of the wonderful thing about Transformers is its ability to change (if you'll pardon the pun) into something new every few years or so. So either we get a continuation of the film series, a new film series with a new style and direction, or something else altogether.

Whichever, I'll be looking forward to it!
