Jacob Nion Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 As far as I know the rule about who can build on which planets is still being discussed and is not being enforced while it is in question. I built on Kashyyyk, and it got judged ok. Thanks for your answers. But it's hard to make a decision now. To build or not to build? Quote
Bob De Quatre Posted October 12, 2014 Posted October 12, 2014 Build. That's a rule that we never enforced, and I really doubt we will. Quote
OHarra Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 (edited) I was never interested in SW or other sci-fi stuff, but when the orders from our young top came I had to take pictures and here he is: Lorcan O'Harra, intergalactic rebel, wanted from empire. With help of his friend he gained those 100 000 several times (like Blondie ), but he is loyal to the Alliance. Index picture: You guessed: I'm joining as a rebel trooper. MKJoshA Posted October 15, 2014 Posted October 15, 2014 I would just like to say that although someone has been playing around with my title, I am still on the Rebel's side! Quote

VK-318 Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 (edited) Congratulations, MKJoshA! You've earned it! Build. That's a rule that we never enforced, and I really doubt we will. Generally the rule hasn't been needed anyway. The original purpose, to create rewards for winning teams, is kind of irrelevant anyway since people seem to be motivated more by the challenge of taking on the other team, and people seem to be keeping pretty good mental track of who's in charge of what planet at what time without that rule, and adjusting the nature and tone of their builds to suit. Pointblank Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Quality over quantity...guys... quality over quantity... Rebels are just jealous we have the best tag, we all know the Death Star is the best tag out there, and Rebels have more participants simply put .. whether individually and on average the Rebels' builts are better, are certainly questionable. Kodan Black Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 As I contemplate creating a character and joining in this fun madness, I think the most limiting side of the Empire is how fixed everything is. The Rebels are this rag-tag group where practically anything is acceptable, beggars can't be choosers, but the Empire has a "system". You can build a freighter and say "this is my character's ship" as a Rebel and the freighter can look like basically anything. As an Empire person you can't do that, it is a much more narrowly acceptable criteria. I tend towards playing the good guy in games, so I was thinking I'd challenge that and go dark side, but I feel like being Empire would make me too penned in. I wonder if allowing the Empire some latitude via hired mercenaries or something would make more people join up. Or I might have missed something and this is already permissible, which would incline me towards trying my hand at being a "bad guy". Quote
MKJoshA Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 There is plenty of flexibility on the side of the Empire in SoNE. You should checkout goatman's builds and Lucas's as a starting example. There is definitly a system that the Empire has to play by, but our builders have shown there are ways to be unique within that system. However, the Rebels are clearly the best team to build on Quote
Kodan Black Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Oh, I've been lurking for a while, I've looked at every single build in the mega-thread (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=69834)... I'll have to think about it. One question, can I start doing SoNE and then do freebuilds that build backstory or are freebuilds only for present character development? Quote
MKJoshA Posted November 7, 2014 Posted November 7, 2014 Freebuilds can certainly be for building backstory! That's encouraged! Quote

However, the Rebels are clearly the best team to build on As an imperial you can also incent new thing like experimental TIE fighters and walkers . As a rebel i miss the opportunity to build great ground vehicles. Also i could imagine a high rank storm trooper/pilot having his personal ship or a civil vessel for secret missions. A good story can offer a lot chances to build everything. But indeed the alliance is the best team because naturally we always win. Quote

In most mmo games, i tend to play the not so good side, because generally the players are more mature there on average. While I agree on your assessment, i find the empire in SoNE under-represented and yet to challenge boundaries. Primary reason why I joined the imps. Like most games, most people join the good side which has the natural tenedency to win . Rules permitting, I would say yes to merc like behaviour, and borderline senseless violence in a bid to advance the empires cause, all for fun :) But indeed the alliance is the best team because naturally we always win. ... And clearly delusional ... Hehe Edited November 8, 2014 by Pointblank Quote

goatman461 Posted November 8, 2014 Posted November 8, 2014 Keep I mind, because Imperials go everywhere, the rebels are slightly more limited in terms of scenes. Just because we're stuck in Tie fighters, doesn't mean we can't build a scene inspecting a bounty hunter ship or blowing up a rebel base. The rebels do get more options in terms minifig customization, though. Quote
