Hi All,

After reading through this whole section, this looks really intriguing and I want to participate. I had a few questions, I apologize if these are answered, but reading through all of this was a bit overwhelming haha.

1. Can I create a character for the contest who is not a human? IE a Sullustan Rebel.

2. Are you allowed to do free builds between Episodes? Like right now, I see there is no current episode going on so if I did a freee build, how would that effect my free build count now or when the next episode comes out?

3. Can free builds influence the narratives to future Episodes at all?

4. I read somewhere (and now I can't find) that by doing something or gaining XP it lifts the restrictions on the amound of free builds. Can someone pinpoint that for me? Seconding that point, is there a summary of "Perks and Achievements" in one organized area to see doing which actions allows you to do what?

5. And lastly, I assume when I'm ready to start, I just post in this thread my Faction and Picture of my Character right?

Thank you all again. I apologize for the redundancy but I just read way too much in one shot.

1: Yes, I believe you can be anything, if you check the index you'll see plenty of alien characters.

2: You can build 4 freebuilds per episode, so I think you can make 4 till next episode and then you'll have to wait.

5: You introduce you character in this topic.

Though everything is written here.

Glad to hear you're interested in this project, Thebeeze111! MontyPython already answered some of your questions, but allow me to complete and elaborate.

1. It's perfectly possible to create an alien character, like illustrated by Jannik, for example. However, plese take into consideration that the Empire classically dispises every being that isn't human (you'll see no aliens in the Imperial ranks throughout the movies, and it is established in canon). It's possible to work with an alien Imperial, like goatman461's secondary character (and grand admiral Thrawn in the Expanded Universe), but note that you will then need a strong story to explain why your character can deal with it.

2. You can read in the core rules that the count of your freebuilds resets at the end of each episode. So the freebuilds you'd build now, would count towards your limit of four. You can build more if you want to, but you can only receive XP for four of your freebuilds. As soon as the next episode ends, you can again build four freebuilds for points. But until then, take your time to make them count!

3. I general we don't take player's freebuilds into account to determine what the next episode will be about, because we have kind of a plan as to where thinfs are going. We don't exclude the possibility of a freebuild inspiring us though! As for the story you put into your episode build, that can of course be influenced by your own freebuilds (we like ourselves some good stories, so if you do that, that's always a bonus!). It might be a bit tricky to try to fit your episode build with your freebuilds (MKJoshA, for instance, had to break out of prison at some point to be able to participate, and I'm taking years myself to expl1in what happened with my character  ), but that's part of the fun and creativity.

4. I don't recall any such decision ever being made. As far as I know, and the Core rules state that as well, you can only have four freebuilds that count by the end of every episode. If that isn't enough for you, you can always participate in the Bounty Hunter missions. We don't have a single plce where all of the "unlockables" are listed, but let me give you a small list here. This is out of the top of my head, so if anyone notices something I missed, please speak out.

- The XP you gain determines the rank of your character. This rank allows your character to do more important stuff, even though we don't have firm rules about this. But it's clear that a fresh recruit won't command an entire squadron or something. Just try to think of what that rank would mean in-universe. If you have a high rank, you also can choose to keep doing ordinary things (my character, for example, still is a more or less ordinary pilot).

- Once you've reached 100 XP, you are allowed to have a second character, so that you don't have to feature the same character in eveyr single build. Otherwise, high ranked players with a far adanced story might find it hard to do something appropriate for heir character within the boundaries of a certain episode.

- The higher your rank, the more Bounty Hunter Missions you can try. If you can finish them all, you receive a unique tag. For more details, check out the dedicated thread.

5. That's absolutely right! We hope you enjoy it here. I suggest you readnthe same topic MontyPython suggested, if you haven't already, to get a complete overview of the rules.

Quick question, do the free-builds story have to flow with the timeline of the episodes/challenges or are can the stories be separate arcs? Also sorry if this question and info have already been explained; I'm still trying to soak up all the info as I can as well.

There's a lot to soak up so no worries! Freebuilds are encouraged to flow with the current place we are at in the timeline, but they don't have to. Plenty of people of done flashback builds (myself included!), just try to avoid telling the future in our builds

In regards to free builds, if we make more then four are we allowed to choose which ones we want judged? I don't plan on congesting the forum with dozens of free builds, or do I? I joke, but I might do two extra for story cohesion to explain why my character is where he is that I don't know if i necessarily want judged.

If not that's cool too I just want to make sure i'm following the rules. :classic:

You are right, if you make more than 4 freebuilds you can choose which ones are judged. And they don't have to be posted in any order, so you don't have to post the 4 you want judged first and then others, you could post 2 to judge, 1 not judged, and then 2 to judge if you wanted.

Hi, I had some questions about building ships.

Do I have to build existing ships or can I just make them up myself?

Making them up is certainly acceptable! Try to do your best to make them feel like they would belong in the SW universe, but really as long as you're not trying to set the USS Enterprise on Tatooine, you'll be fine.

@goatman: Don't worry I figured it out.

Question: If I choose to be a pilot, would i be able to do stuff like fight on the ground with other soldiers, or would i be limited to flying/working on ships?

If you are a pilot you can certainly do things on the ground! The pilot vs soldier game mechanic is mostly just for story telling purposes.
