Captain_Rex Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 (edited) Could someone please change my index photo to the one in this post. Thank you! Edited August 4, 2013 by Captain_Rex Quote
Daedalus304 Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Hello! I would like to sign up to take part in this game. After reading the description out of sheer curiosity and with no initial intent to join in - well, this just seems like a little too much fun to pass up on it. I don't have my sig fig yet, but I will attend to that right after the last of my brick sorting is finished tonight. So if you would be so kind, please sign up one Rebel Pilot "Daedalus304" to partake in the next mission! Quote
Bkrosell Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Rebel trooper Bkrosell, (sorry about the size) Quote
Artanis I Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Okay, please add me to the list with my current avatar. I might be changing my avatar to non-Shadows related stuff (back to something green again...) so don't make it the auto-change-with-my-avatar thing, please. (Unless you want a green futuron lion knight TIE pilot!) I'll leave the sig-fig in the signature. Quote
Rogue Angel Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 RogueAng has just recently enlisted in the Rebel Army. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 Player index updated, and now ordered first by rank, then by XP, and then in alphabetical order. Should make it much easier to find your profile. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 Important Rule Addition: There has been some concern that players might be able to 'spam' free builds very quickly and rank up in a manner that makes participating in episodes less meaningful. So, there is now a limit of four free builds per player per episode. (This count resets to '4' after each episode concludes. Unused 'allowed free build opportunities' do not carry over or stack after the count is reset.) Note: Free builds posted before this rule was added will not count against a player's number of allowed free builds. We don't want to penalize players who already got off to an enthusiastic quick start. Quote
Wedge09 Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I have a question about Nar Eurbrikka: you said that it is something similar to Nal Hutta, right? Have we some maps with cities and more detailes about Nar Eurbrikka or we have to await until the start of the first episode to know more? Quote

Have we some maps with cities and more detailes about Nar Eurbrikka or we have to await until the start of the first episode to know more? No, Nar Eurbrikka is for the players to flesh out. As a guideline for style, it's sort of swampish, some outdated technology, Hutt-like, lots of practical designs and nothing too elaborate. But you the players ultimately get to decide what the details of its appearance are. I'll add this to the FAQs. Quote

I totally understand this, but those who want to build for enlarging the world of Nar Eurbrikka and enjoy telling stories of their characters, it maybe takes down a little bit. So would it be okay to make more than 4 free builds, and only the first 4 will be judged for gaining XP? Quote
Rogue Angel Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I'm guessing Nar Eurbrikka is somewhat similar to Nal Hutta (as depicted in the 2nd Han Solo trilogy, and as BrickDoctor has described) with some cities that would be similar in feel to Nar Shadda (highly urbanized and highly dangerous, I believe one of the Dark Forces games may have had a cut scene?), at a significantly reduced scale. Jacob Nion Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Absolutely, that would be fine. I'll edit the rule slightly to reflect this. Great! It would have been very hard to decide which 4 mocs to build next. Quote
J4ke Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 How about a compromise... only four free builds can count for points, but the builder chooses which. If for example, you build a spaceship and you want that to count, then fine. But if the next thing you build is a microspace version of the same thing, you can elect for that not to count, leaving you with three more point-winning oppurtunities. You get one chance to say whether or not you want it ellegible for points, and no takesies-backsies. Yes, no, maybe so? Quote

Forcing players to post their non-XP, purely roleplaying MOCs after their four free builds discourages character progression, and anything that prevents them from being able to work on their building skills before submitting an MOC to be judged works against one of the major goals of the game, which for players to help other players build better in order to win stuff. Editing... Quote
MstrOfPppts Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Finally got time to make my avatar so please update the index with it: The freebuild rules make perfect sense, but does it mean we are allowed 4 XPed builds before the first episode too, or just after the first episode starts? It's getting really excited! Can't wait to see what challenges await us ... Quote
Nom Carver Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Tons of wisdom appear among the inhabitants of the SW galaxy, those modifications to the rules make alot of sense, the improvement of the game is greatly welcomed! Quote
Sebeus I Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Good rule, though for me, I don't think I'll even manage to make 4 freebuilds within 2 months Finally got time to make my avatar so please update the index with it: It's nice to fight on the same side this time . Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 The freebuild rules make perfect sense, but does it mean we are allowed 4 XPed builds before the first episode too, or just after the first episode starts? The rules state that the count will reset after each episode concludes, so you're allowed to build before the first episode begins, but your count doesn't reset to '4' until the first episode ends. (Fear not — the first episode will launch in a couple days. ) Quote
Bkrosell Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I understand the free build rules completely but I was just wondering if you post the free build the same way as guilds of historica? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 I understand the free build rules completely but I was just wondering if you post the free build the same way as guilds of historica? I'm not completely sure as to what GoH's rules are now. For Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka, read over the rules regarding what is appropriate for free builds in the Core Rules, post the build in a new topic in the main SW forum, you can announce it in your faction's roleplaying topic (Redemption for you), and then you should state in the MOC's topic whether or not you want it to be judged. I saw in the rules it said at the bottom for building out of episodes something about non cannon builds, I could use some clarification on that, so until I understand the free build rules better ( because I guess I don't really know the rules as well as I thought ) I will hold off on the free builds I have to post. MKJoshA Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I would like to sign up as a Rebel Scout, I'll get my picture up later. One question. Where do I post free builds? Is it under Redemption? "mkjosha" reporting for duty. Quote

It means that if you want to build something that's completely ridiculous and/or blatantly breaks the rules of free builds, then that MOC won't be judged and won't be considered a part of the canon storyline, no matter how good it is and no matter whether or not you want it to be one of your four judged free builds. The rule was added with the thought that players might want to explore the Shadows of Nar Eurbrikka setting outside of what their character experiences. Quote
