Posted July 31, 201311 yr This one didn't really interest me. I didn't support it. Congrats anyway to the creators! Project page -Sci
August 1, 201311 yr The game is pretty good. Hard as crap unless you know what to do. But good. I cannot say I would ever want these things though. It's a great indie game. I just don't give a crap about its ships.
August 1, 201311 yr I supported it.. I had no idea what it was, but I am sure there are people out there who would buy this who don't know anything about Cuusoo...
August 1, 201311 yr The game is great and the micro ships look excellent too! I am glad it reached the 10000 supporters.
August 1, 201311 yr I liked the game and I think we need some decent microscale spaceships out of SW franchise...
August 1, 201311 yr Congrats to the crew that pushed it to 10k. I'll admit to not being the target audience for this one. It's one of the few games I haven't dabbled in, and I don't really like mini ships. But I still wish them the best of luck in the review.
August 1, 201311 yr Congrats to the creators! Never heard of the game, but sweet microscale ships! I'd consider buying. Edited August 1, 201311 yr by Infernum
August 1, 201311 yr I don't know the game, but I love microscaled spaceships. I agree completely. I had never heard of FTL before the CUUSOO project, but most of the ships look very cool on their own.
August 2, 201311 yr I was supporter #9996. I'd never even heard of FTL but I supported it in part because I thought the micro-build space ships were cool and, after 14 years of SW models, refreshing. More to the point however, I supported it because I was tired of the on-going culture of AFOLs withholding support for quality projects (even if they are likely to be killed off in review) for one nit-pick or another while at the same time complaining that non-AFOLs fly in like locusts and push projects like Perdue Pete and Atlas through (seemingly) effortlessly. Votes are cheap. I think AFOLs should spend a bit more time supporting each other and less time bickering with each other and trying to play omniscient gatekeeper for TLG.
August 2, 201311 yr Never heard of the game, but the ships look good although I have to admit that I'm not a fan of microscale. Maybe if this comes as a good game format though it will make a difference. It certainly does look the part. Best of luck to them though if they can get it made we will see and if the game looks interesting you never know I may buy it.
August 2, 201311 yr ...and if the game looks interesting you never know I may buy it. The game worth buying, I can guarantee it. =) And yay, we did it for real. Can't believe. :D Also, it's the first time a Russian AFOL got successful on CUUSOO, which is notable event I think.
August 9, 201311 yr I don't know the game, but I'm always happy for fans to get a LEGO set of their favourite things.
August 9, 201311 yr Great, just what we need: another cuusoo project based on an obscure computer game that very few have played and with very little appeal to those who haven't.
August 9, 201311 yr Great, just what we need: another cuusoo project based on an obscure computer game that very few have played and with very little appeal to those who haven't. That's rude. =\ If you don't like it, nobody forces you to dance and yell "Yay, congrats!" Nobody expects you to comment either, especially in that manner of yours.
August 9, 201311 yr -N13OS-Â Sorry if my sarcasm offended you. Â My point is that, like the Minecraft sets, these seem to have limited appeal to those who haven't played the game. I was hoping that Cuusoo would produce lots of interesting AFOL sets we could all enjoy, but increasingly it seems to be dominated by niche interest groups who muster support from outside the existing Lego fan community. Eg. from the FTL page: > "Given the expansive fan base of FTL, the required 10,000 supporters should be easy to acquire .. > but only if you can help us get the word out. > > Tell every FTL fan you know > Post in relevant forums > Send "Tip" emails to relevant gaming sites, for instance: Penny-Arcade, Joystiq, and Kotaku > Tweet your followers and send direct tweets to gaming personalities" This is great marketing from TLG's perspective - introducing new people to Lego - but not so great for existing Lego fans who might prefer sets with wider appeal which achieve 10K on their own merits. Anyway, this is a discussion forum, so please feel free to explain why you particularly like the sets and think they're cool. Maybe you can win me over to them. Edit: I see you were part of the FTL team. Congratulations on reaching 10K ! Edited August 9, 201311 yr by Missing Brick
August 9, 201311 yr My point is that, like the Minecraft sets, these seem to have limited appeal to those who haven't played the game. I was hoping that Cuusoo would produce lots of interesting AFOL sets we could all enjoy, but increasingly it seems to be dominated by niche interest groups who muster support from outside the existing Lego fan community. As Glen Bricker stated somewhere in the main CUUSOO thread, it is actually targeted on niche communities. Eg. from the FTL page:> "Given the expansive fan base of FTL, the required 10,000 supporters should be easy to acquire .. > but only if you can help us get the word out. Well, the exact formulation was suggested by Glen Bricker, and I do trust him in a matter of what is right to say and how to attract supporters. Anyway, this is a discussion forum, so please feel free to explain why you particularly like the sets and think they're cool. Maybe you can win me over to them. Otherwise, I politely suggest you follow the advice of your avatar and "'Deal with it". I am not very good at winning arguments honestly, but here's what I find attractive in possible FTL set aside from my love to the game itself: Small format of the ships allows to gather a wide collection. It's not that good for actual play and has no shooting lasers or cogs'n'joints stuff. Some people collect Hot Wheels because they are small and cool, and there was nothing bad about it. Of course, if it was in my power, I'd rather make big model that will fit micro or even minifigures, with removable roof and other bells and whistles. But I am okay with the current scale. And we decided to keep it and even rejected idea of adding minifigs into a set. Also, a variety of relatively original unique ship designs. And what do you consider to be an 'interesting AFOL set we could all enjoy'? Maybe you just want something diametrically different from those designs of mine? Otherwise, I politely suggest you follow the advice of your avatar and "'Deal with it". Well, I can be polite too, and say that those who express deep emotion of hatred can carry on and keep doing this, and then we will be equal, but you asked for an explanation of my point of view, and here it is. Not the best and detailed one though, providing that English is not my natural language. Edited August 9, 201311 yr by -N13OS-
August 9, 201311 yr Thanks for the reply N13OS. I didn't know you were an FTL designer. My comment was intended as a criticism of the Cuusoo system and obscure computer game tie-ins. It was not meant as a criticism of your designs. Congrats on reaching 10K supporters and goodluck with the next steps in the process.
August 9, 201311 yr @ Missing Brick, I need to find a way to rename myself then. :D People are often confused when I am attempting to defend my project. And I do it a bit over aggressive, so I apologize. However, your opinion on what CUUSOO projects ideally should be is quite similar to mine. I often visit project list and don't see anything that would catch my eye, and then I think "Come on, give me something that everyone would like!" But you can not indulge every creature, so there are always will be those who would say 'Meh!' or will be sarcastic as you are. Anyway, thanks for wishing good luck. I think we'll need it. =)
August 9, 201311 yr I was hoping that Cuusoo would produce lots of interesting AFOL sets we could all enjoy, but increasingly it seems to be dominated by niche interest groups who muster support from outside the existing Lego fan community... Your argument is one that has upset me from the beginning of my experience with Cuusoo which is why I started blogging. It is clear however that AFOLs are not showing up to support the projects you want to see succeed. I have factual data and a campaign that supports this claim. It is all well and good to complain at the projects that reach 10,000 by reaching outside of the Lego community, but those are the only people voting on Cuusoo in any acceptable numbers. FOLs tastes vary just as much as non-FOLs so the small community of FOLs hanging out on Cuusoo are not getting any projects to 10,000. This is not Lego's fault, Cuusoo's fault, or the fault of the IP related projects that get to 10,000. As this is a one vote per person system, the failure of non-IP projects to get ot 10,000 is the fault of the FOL community alone. Mission Brick, what have you done to promote these project you want to see reach 10,000? Have you shared them with your FOL friends? Made your family vote for them? Posted them on your social networks? Have you supprted every project that you think is an "interesting AFOL set" or just the ones you would like to buy? Did you support the FOL campaign (http://blog.brick-he...o-campaign.html). Even if you have done all this, complaining about the success of another project gets you no closer to your goal. If you think there is a problem then be part of the solution. Save the snark and use that energy to promote a project. Edited August 9, 201311 yr by glenbricker
