Meatman Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 The metallic silver parts are painted and not molded in color ?!? Quote
antp Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I am not even sure it is technically possible to produce metallic/chromed plastic: these are always non-shiny plastic with a layer on it. Quote
Paul Boratko Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Lego used to make parts molded in pearl light gray which had a nice metallic look... I thought that the new metallic silver liftarms would be like the current metallic silver slotted round pin connectors.. I am a bit disappointed to find out that they are painted... Quote
Blakbird Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 The metallic silver parts are painted and not molded in color ?!? Yes, metallic silver parts have always been painted. I am not even sure it is technically possible to produce metallic/chromed plastic: these are always non-shiny plastic with a layer on it. Right, the chromed parts you see start out with a normal opaque color and then have plating applied. All chrome plating is done with way. No chrome part in the real world is made of solid chrome. However, solid metal parts can be polished to be reflective like chrome. For instance, a polished aluminum part is indistinguishable from chrome. Quote
FuzzyBallz Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I'm just gonna add another set of LED lights there so all 4 front lights can be on! And that's my mod for the day. Quote

camaudio Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 (edited) Finally finished. It really does take a lot of black parts, and i ran out of some and had to tear down other creations. Edited August 3, 2013 by camaudio Quote
dragofoscar Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Where are your Motors :0) I am thinkink, of the Speed can be modified. This is simple by changing Gears. Has anyone Trude this With the 9398? I have Not read the whole 9398 thread... Changing Gears will make it fastet, but assume, crawling will suffer under this simple Mod. Quote

GDomino Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 where can I get those tires that's on your 9398 set? thanks, You can get them here: http://store.rc4wd.com/Crazy-Krawler-19-Tires_p_671.html They are actually on sale for $12.99 USD. I love these tires. Performance wise, they're pretty light, perfectly balanced in other aspects i.e outside diameter, width, weight, and grip. Quote
legomuppet9 Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I think black with red stripes would look good... Just a thought... Or maybe a 9398 version-black with orange stripes Quote

I'd personally swap the tyres with the ones on your 9398 The kits mostly just for looks and the RC4WD tires tend to get stuck to things when it just sits Red paint-job with black racing stripes 2 sets of LEDs Studless bucket seats. I found this pic in the unimog review here http://www.technicbr...nimog-u400.html you can change these gears- left is for speed and right is for more torque. There is also an intermediate gear between these two. Quote
JTS Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Black or yellow wheels would look good I think it's pretty cool actually, but I would go with black wheels ;) Thanks, black it is then! Hopefully I'll also get the lights and winch to work remotely too. Quote
GDomino Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 (edited) I found this pic in the unimog review here http://www.technicbr...nimog-u400.html you can change these gears- left is for speed and right is for more torque. There is also an intermediate gear between these two. Along with changing the gear ratio in the portal hubs, there is an instructional video on youtube to gain more speed (for the 9398 but same concept): .Unfortunately, if both are adjusted for speed, the torque and accelaration is so compromised that it's just not fun to drive around.
