LibraryBoy Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Still very much a newb to the whole AFOL thing, but I wanted to have a go at my first MOC, a wrestling ring. It's still very much a work in progress - I want to fix the announce table, replace the ropes, add some guard rails for the first row fans to stand behind and an entrance ramp area, maybe even a proper ring apron if I get ambitious enough - but I like what little I have so far. Feedback / suggestions are greatly appreciated! Quote
Esurient Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Nice ring and ramp! Love those minifigures as well! Quote
lightningtiger Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Interesting simple project so far.......but there no chairs to smack over each others heads ! Brick On 'LibraryBoy' ! Quote
Kivi Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Very interesting concept and what you have created so far looks pretty good. The ropes would definitely look better in my opinion if replaced with lego strings. Keep up the good work. Quote
eurotrash Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 It's the first Lego wrestling ring I've seen and you've done a good job. Thanks for sharing it with us! Quote
coffeeandcake Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 instantly recognize jerry 'the king' lawler, jim ross and michael cole! very nice MOC, especially like how you did the ropes and put the cape in the corner. Quote
AwesomeTaylor Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I like your ring! I made one myself a few years ago: A view over the shoulder of Luchadore shows the rest of the interior by awesometaylor, on Flickr As the action in the ring between Luchadore, Heart Throb Jack and Punk heats up, Sumo John appears to lay down a challange! by awesometaylor, on Flickr Looking down from the ceiling at the crowd chearing on the luchador as he springboards into the ring by awesometaylor, on Flickr I've been working on making a micro-scale ring but the proportions are odd and very difficult to include the ring posts. LibraryBoy Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 Interesting simple project so far.......but there no chairs to smack over each others heads ! Brick On 'LibraryBoy' ! I want to have chairs for these guys so badly! Does anyone (official or otherwise) make minifig-scale folding chairs? Regular Lego chairs would just look kinda weird. Very interesting concept and what you have created so far looks pretty good. The ropes would definitely look better in my opinion if replaced with lego strings. Keep up the good work. I definitely want to replace the ropes somewhere down the line, but I wanted to have something in there as I was building it and ribbon from the wife's craft table was the best of what I had access to then-and-there. instantly recognize jerry 'the king' lawler, jim ross and michael cole! very nice MOC, especially like how you did the ropes and put the cape in the corner. I was actually going for Howard Finkel, but yeah, I can definitely see how he could be a Cole stand-in, too. I like your ring! I made one myself a few years ago: Yours lives up to your screen name, AwesomeTaylor! I like how you used the long thin bricks for the ropes and I especially like the entrance area and the way you worked the ring apron logo into the construction itself. Thanks for all the compliments, folks. I see some of the amazing work people around here are posting and it's pretty intimidating, so the support is very much appreciated. And keep those suggestions coming! Quote
Amset-Rah Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Awesome work! Jerry Lawler and Good Ol' J.R. are instantly recognizable, as is Cole. Not bad, but the ropes would look better with Lego rope. Otherwise, fantastic ring! Quote
Zachattacx Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Me being a huge WWE and TNA fan, love this! Lego rope would be better. The overall dimensions of the ring are very good! The steps are great! As are the turnbuckles! I honestly see more Finkel than Cole.Jim Ross and Jerry "The King" Lawler are instantly recognizable! Great work! Can't wait to see the finished thing. Now all I need is a CM Punk minifig.....that would complete my life XD Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 LOL this is a great scene! Amazing use of the crowbar at ringside! Quote
LibraryBoy Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 I've looked around at the various Lego rope options and nothing really has the look I'm after. I think craft store jewely cord might be closer to what I want. I may pick some up soon. Finally ordered a bunch of guardrail/barrier pieces for ringside from BrickLink. Looking forward to getting that set up soon! Quote
JoshMcCray Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Thats fantastic. definiately have to show this to my son, who is a huge wrestling fan (me, not so much). On my fire truck MOCs I used shoe laces for hoses, that might work for your ring ropes, or ever that string kids use to make friendship bracelets (it's colorful too). Quote
Shoujikey Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 The girl with the black glasses remind me of Attitude Era Christian.Overall nice job love the minifigs, they are nearly accurate Quote
LibraryBoy Posted November 1, 2013 Author Posted November 1, 2013 Thanks! I added a bunch more a few weeks ago, I should really take some more pictures. Still not satisfied with my crowd arrangement, though. Quote
Darth Dino Posted November 2, 2013 Posted November 2, 2013 Hi cool! To get the Undertaker: Take the black hat you already have, use a black suited torso and black legs. Plus a black cape and grey head from the Emperor Darth Sidious. :) Put additional two 1x1 black bricks under the legs, to make him taler. Paul Bearer is also very simple: All black suite, a scary white head from Monster Fighter plus black kids legs. Dino Quote
