I had another nosey at the forum on a resellers website. Someone commented that perhaps a lot of the ebay trade of 41999 was resellers selling to each other. About a page later in the very same thread, members actually started trying to do just that via the forum. Was quickly shut down by admins. Quite funny. Still not funny for all the people who missed out.

Just wondering, what would it approximately cost if one where to bricklink all the dark blue parts? Maybe that's an alternative for all the people who missed out on this set?

Two problems: Most of the dark blue was made exclusively for this set, and, anyone parting out this set will be charging astronomical prices. The parts are "licensed" like the Unimog orange. S@H won't sell them to you.

Yeah, they do that. Its funny to read how they are annoyed by not getting expected hight prices.

I think that they bought too many sets. The reason why certain sets like UCS falcon and Cafe Corner are so expensive in MISB because they come from time before the boom of reseling and peopel mostly got them for their own enjoyment.

I you look at Bricklink: there are currently around 30 UCS falcons for sale and around 60 Cafe Corners (number is hugher because of sets from bricklinked parts). If you check 41999, there are 120 sets for sale and just by checking resellers forum, you could see that they stocked hundreds if not thousand of sets. There just arent that many people willing to pay 400+ eur for set which isnt even SW or Modular building (SW has larger fan base also outside lego community and modular buildings have high "must to have all" potential).

Its good. Those are not some poor fellows and, after all, they will not lose any money on it (sets will always sell for 200-250eur), they will just not make SO MUCH money of it.

Just received two 41999 sets for my friends. The price is without shipping and handling (that is much enough)

The man who helped me to buy this set have one of the largest BL stores in Germany. He can make money on them, but he used his 2-set limit and helped me.

There are kind people among sellers:)

Awesome. Perhaps people could post the names of such kind-hearted sellers so we know where to direct our business in the future. With permission of course. And on condition that people do not harass them for cheap 41999 sets. Which could be a problem.

Respect to this German seller

I didn't want to start a new 41999 topic, but I found out something interesting. I recently have sold a 41999 set on Ebay to a member hunghui33. I looked into his feedback. Within the last month, he has bought over 60 sets on Ebay. This does not include the ones he bought and did not get feedback from, like myself. Mailing address is Oregon, but his membership says Hong Kong. Who knows how many he is planning on buying and what his plans are in the future, but for an average price of $400 x 60 sets = $24,000!

Those of you that are Canadian and missed your chance at one, call your local stores (if you live close to a brand store) every now and then on the days they get shipments to see if there's any new ones coming in. That's how I ended up getting mine like the past week. Called on Monday to the 3 GTA stores and all of them were sold out. When asked if any more of them would come in, they said unlikely but call back on the days they receive shipments. Called back on Wednesday for one of the locations, luckily enough a few more of them came in. Reserved one and bought it. Even the employee I called to reserve the set was expecting me to reserve 2...I said for just one and was surprised. I admit it's tempting to get 2 to resell one of them, but I can't drop that much money at once and hope that it sells or something. Really wanna open it right now and build it but my school work is starting to pile up.

I took a look at the instagram of the guy that has been hoarding 200 sets (at least according to him; pics show at least like 50 sets or so)...looking at his other pics, looks like it's some rich young guy.

I think the reseller frenzy with this set is caused by the limited production run, and the fact that TLG announced it to be such before the set came out. I don't blame the resellers and scalpers. If TLG wanted to fix this, there is nothing stopping them from manufacturing more sets to compensate for the high demand.

Frankly, I don't think this is such a great set in the first place, and I have no plans to get one even as a long time Technic fan. The original 9398 it's based on is not that sophisticated and has simpler mechanisms than other recent flagship Technic sets. The dark blue color looks very good but the red in the chassis is incongruous with it, and since you can't easily buy more dark blue pieces, the color is of little use in MOCs. Between this and 42009 for example, I would take the latter any day

Finally got a mail from Lego Support that they will ship mine (ordered August 9) this week. :sweet:

i don't know what took them so long, but it's good to see that they are keeping their promises.

So i jumped on an offer for a small lot of sets and was lucky enough to get it. I now have one extra 41999. As i don't need one more and feel it should go to someone else that was not fortunate in getting it i am asking you where is the best place to sell one? Bricklink, ebay or something else?

Box has only been opened by the owner to look at the number plate.

You can sell it to someone here. I was able to get one, but it would be awesome if you reached out to someone who wasn't able to.

True that!

If anyone here wants to buy it they can send me a pm if thats allowed. The set is in Norway so be warned that the shipping is a bit crazy since everything is expensive her. Ill sell it at the S@H price or trade it for a Lego Technic set i don't have. Ain't trying to earn money just share the great set :)
