firetech Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 The Swedish mail tried to deliver my 41999 to my door just 30-40 minutes after I left for work, and my fiancée (who was at home) apparently slept through the doorbell. Now I'll have to wait until tomorrow (hopefully!) for them to deliver it to my service center... Why couldn't it go straight to my service center like all normal deliveries in Sweden? Much more efficient and adapted to the working man... :/ Quote
graafderk Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I ordered last Sunday evening (CEST) and just received an e-mail stating: "Unfortunately, the item(s) listed below are currently out of stock and it will be a little longer before we can ship them to you." The order status changed from 'customer service' to 'in process', so I guess this means I will get a set of the second batch. Anyone having similar experiences? Quote
Alldarker Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 They told me that payment by invoice wasn't possible of the huge price... I actually believe Lego S@H screens customers and gives them 'credit-ratings', most probably based on past sales, based on speed of payment (without needing to send reminders etc.) and based on the length of time they have been registered as a S@H customer. I've been a S@H customer ever since I bought 10123 Cloud City as a S@H exclusive, back in 2003. Since then I have bought a lot of the (S@H exclusive) large sets, all paid for by invoice without any problems for S@H. The only set I ever got a customer service call back on was when I ordered the 10030 Star Destroyer in 2005. That's been the only set S@H ever wanted credit card payment for. And I believe the invoice payment option wasn't / isn't even an option for the 10188 Death Star. I think newer S@H customers do not meet certain requirements to get the credit rating needed to be able to pay by invoice. That is why quite a few people do get customer service call-backs asking for payment by CC. Quote

Jim Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Just had lego CS on the phone. They cant garantee if i am getting one... You ordered pretty soon after midnight, right? What's your order status? Did you get the mini set? Quote

But they tols me also that the the people ordered with credit card got the set soner because the money cleared almost straight away. Bank transfer just takes longer so they ar the last... I was in Lille yesterday in the lego store. They told me that the second batch should come in around the 22nd. I just have to wait and see... Quote

LEGO.Inc Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 (edited) Paid with invoice. On 2nd of August the payment cleared from my bankaccount (after receiving mail that amount of payment was to high for invoice). Got confirmation from CS today (after mailing CS) that they received my payment. But because of cc payments they didn't received my payment on time to send the set in the first batch. So they told me I will receive the set in 2nd batch. Well, I cross my fingers. Edited August 6, 2013 by LEGO.Inc Quote
doriansdad Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Funnily enough, orders are still able to be placed online, even though it must surely be oversold by now. Nope we still haven't reached 20k orders. Once status changes to "call for product availability" then 20k orders have been placed worldwide. As they then go through those remaining orders and make cancellations it will reappear in stock a few times. Once it is done status will move to "sold out" in red. Until status changes to "call for product availability" anyone placing their order will receive this set if they are not over the limit and their payment clears. Quote

DrFrankenstein Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 (edited) If you who complained about getting the free polybag shipped separate (or not getting the hot dog stand), think again... I just received my 41999 set with the polybag in one box. My excitement turned to sadness when I saw that the box cover had very visible damage on it. What has happened is that S@H didn't put enough air cussions to pad the inside of the shipping box. Leaving the set with 9x4cm of free space to shift around during shipping. Not only this, but they placed the polybag at the bottom of the box with the inverted set on top (why in the world?). The result: the bike from the polybag produced a visible pattern of scars on the box. It even managed to punch a hole through the invoice. I opened the box to see if I can't smooth the scars out from the inside, but unfortunately there is no way since the cardboard is made to take impressions by design. I thought about sending the box back to S@H for replacement, but then I found out that the return terms clearly state that the box has to be sealed for return. Bummer! Well, I put an order for a second set pronto and hope that it will arrive without such damage (if it arrives ever). If I manage to get the second set, I will sell the first one to anyone who needs it at below market price. Edited August 6, 2013 by DrFrankenstein Quote

DrFrankenstein Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 OMG that is heart breaking! On the plus side, at least you got your set. Thanks, Doc_Brown. I really hope to get a second set in September with a good box. With some luck, that will take care of this issue. The first set will then go on eBay for auction starting at $100 (it's got to be worth that much at least, I hope). I know that there are many builders out there who don't care at all about the boxes and discard them (which I think is terrible, but well...). Then again, who knows... perhaps someone will see a Virgin Mary or secret message from LEGO in the seemingly random imprints on this box and it will become a super-mega-hit. Quote
Taiphun Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Ordered at 0040h MST on August 1st, site indicated that it would take a month but shipped this morning. I'm excited. :D Quote
zyrex Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 My box was "filled" with aircushions, but they were all deflated, so not much help there. The polybag was on the bottom though, and hadn't made any marks. This is the one box I will keep though, since it is so special. Quote
antp Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I know that there are many builders out there who don't care at all about the boxes and discard them Or simply try to search for such builder for exchanging boxes, for a small added bonus ? :D For example myself I do not really care about the box state : I buy it for the model and will keep the box if I ever need to sell it, but I do not plan to sell it, but I do not especially want the box to be in pristine state. skriblez Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I throw away all my boxes. Really don't care about them :/ Quote

Let's try... Anyone in the USA have a pristine box they would be willing to swap for the above mentioned box? I will gladly cover all your shipping fees and send you a $20 LEGO gift card plus the new hot dog stand polybag with my eternal gratitude. Send me a PM if you can help. P.S. Darth Dino Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Hi i ordered in the late evening on August 1st. My Boss is still on backorder for the 22nd but the free polybag is already shipped. Does that mean i will get the Boss or does this mean nothing? The polybag could also been an appology for everybody who ordered right in time but do not get it... Who knows? Dino Quote

DrFrankenstein Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 (edited) This box sells. Just put it on bricklink and make someone happy! That's what I did with the few sets that I got for MOC parts. Put up the boxes and instruction booklets up on BL at the lowest possible price in the pack (something like $2-3 per box or so). Not that such prices are even worth the time I would spend on the sales process, but it's gratifying to know that I am helping add to the market liquidity on BL so that those who need the box can get it without breaking the bank. Curiously enough, I've only sold one box from my BL lot so far (over the last year or so) which makes me think that the demand for Technic boxes is close to nil. Still, I keep the boxes up and periodically revise the price to make sure it's the lowest on the market - it's a feel good thing for me just like recycling. You can list it right now on bricklink for $300 and it'll probably sell because there may be some countries where 41999 could be hard to find. PS. Of course you list it as "box has scratches" but I think this makes very little difference for the selling price, lots of people don't care about the box. Edited August 6, 2013 by hoeij Quote
