skriblez Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 But this is a very special box. This box sells. Just put it on bricklink and make someone happy! Expensive to send anything from Norway. But we will see if i get one. It's a special set but still just a cardboardbox for me :) Quote

Driva00 Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 When do they send the top 100 prizes? Why didn't they do that when they started shipping the bought sets? Quote
mssm Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 When do they send the top 100 prizes? Why didn't they do that when they started shipping the bought sets? It dont matter if you ordered it or won it. Nobody knows nothing about nothing. Lego will not tell anyone who's getting their set, when they planned to deliver it. They will not even tell you if you order it if you got it or not. Complete silence. Thats whats boosting the secondary market. Lego have shaped this hype themself. Quote
octavspot Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 (edited) Call me a capitalistic pig or whatever, but I don't have problems with people buying however much they want to buy. IMHO, how people spend their money is their own business. It's their own business to turn their money/investment around for whatever gains they hope to get from it. Also, I gotta say that scalping/flipping/middlemen/crime/investing/whathaveyou has been around since the beginning of time and there's no use complaining over it, because it's never going to go away. BTW, I'm not a reseller and I only ordered one (and at midnight on August 1st). To me, the motivation for my effort is for the enjoyment of having one in my collection... And that was the gain I was hoping for. Would I feel victimized, if I didn't get one? Probably, but I'd get over it quick. Afterall, it's over a toy. I could care less about why so and so bought more than one and whatever their reasons are. Because if I really wanted to, I could choose to do the same, but I choose not to. People here are voicing their concerns because others decided to cheat the system - You saying "that's how it is, that's capitalism, live with it" is exactly what's wrong with capitalism in the first place - one individual gets everything while others get nothing. You're obviously entitled to your opinion, as is everyone else, but it's this kind of mentality that has caused so much misery with this set (and others like it). Also, as a fellow Technic fan, I imagine you build and play with Lego Technic, which makes it more than just a toy, but a hobby, a passion. And considering this set, even when new, wasn't particularly cheap (I paid $289 CAD for it when I bought it from the Lego store in Toronto) - that's a substantial amount of money which I work very hard for, much like a lot of other people here on eurobricks. So I can certainly sympathize with those who've lost that money AND the set they paid for - it's easy to say "I'd get over it quick" since you already have your set, but what if that was your money gone, because several individuals decided to be selfish and take more for themselves? Not trying to pick a fight or stir up an arguement but I certainly did not say to cheat the system. I was merely stating my belief that "how people spend their money is their own business" and if the system allows it, buying multiples is fair game because any of us (despite moral values) can do the same if you have the means to do so. I was just stating "my opinion" that complaining about people buying multiples and flipping it is pointless and using the "unfair" card is trivial... I am merely identifying the fact that the real world we live in is "not fair", and it always will be. In addition, the "loss" that you are describing is minimal, when in reality we are just talking about toys or as you put it a "hobby". I apologize if I am misundertanding you but I just want to remind you that if your item doesn't ship, your credit card doesn't get charged - so what is it that you lose since there is no exchange in currency? The only loss is the enjoyment that one feels they are obligated to, but again it is still trivial in the overall scheme of things. I won't be posting further about this... Lost_In_Noise Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 That's what I did with the few sets that I got for MOC parts. Put up the boxes and instruction booklets up on BL at the lowest possible price in the pack (something like $2-3 per box or so). Not that such prices are even worth the time I would spend on the sales process, but it's gratifying to know that I am helping add to the market liquidity on BL so that those who need the box can get it without breaking the bank. Curiously enough, I've only sold one box from my BL lot so far (over the last year or so) which makes me think that the demand for Technic boxes is close to nil. Still, I keep the boxes up and periodically revise the price to make sure it's the lowest on the market - it's a feel good thing for me just like recycling. I did exactly the same with my boxes. I isn't worth anything to me, but if someone would be willing to pay for the shipping(also from expensive Norway) why not give it to them for free? Make some poor chap happy is my top priority, When I started listing my boxes, I put them all up for 1$ each, and all got sold in two days! Quote

Just a minor correction - no one is getting charged for a set that is not shipped to them (at least not from Lego without them screwing up). Otherwise I think you have a good sentiment, it is peoples hard earned money and it is a hobby many of them are passionate about, it would be sad for scalpers to be able to get in the way of that and hold the hobby to ransom. So far though the dust hasn't settled to see if any fans at this point in time are going to miss out, I think this picture will become clearer later on (it will probably affect those fans that didn't have great finances to buy as soon as the set came out). Or simply try to search for such builder for exchanging boxes, for a small added bonus ? :D For example myself I do not really care about the box state : I buy it for the model and will keep the box if I ever need to sell it, but I do not plan to sell it, but I do not especially want the box to be in pristine state. And I am somewhere in the middle, I keep all the boxes as I quite like them (I have some from my childhood, and find it interesting the see the original printing)... But it is not possible to keep those boxes intact, there are too many that take up too much space, so virtually all boxes I have get dismantled so that they can be flattened (unfortunately most Lego boxes aren't designed for this so need to be ripped to do so)... I probably wont do that with this particular set however. Edited August 6, 2013 by Alternator Quote
Siegfried Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Yes! Mine got marked as shipped just this afternoon. Not sure if that means it's been shipped from Denmark or from somewhere down Under. The tracking number doesn't reveal anything yet. Me too! Hurrah! Hopefully it comes soon so I can take it to BrickExpo.... Quote
SheepEater Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Finally got an email that it was shipped! (I ordered aug.1st at 7:30 AM) Quote

Just fill the larger boxes with smaller boxes I had originally looked at doing that but too many of the boxes were the same size, but perhaps I didn't try hard enough - I might give it another try with some of the more notable sets. Cwetqo Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Some clarification on why crawlers were backordered has been given on LA forum (quoting Kim from TLG): "The reason for the sets being backordered is that 3000 boxes have been withdrawn from the market because of minor damage to the box. New boxes have been ordered and they will all be manually repacked. Hence the delay in shipping them out." Quote
JunkstyleGio Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 At least there is communication from TLG... Quote

Is there a chance that people with sets on backorder will have their order cancelled? More information would be very much appreciated, please. Quote

It will be the best option to call them and ask particularly for your order - I have asked for mine and they told me that I will get my set for sure but after 22nd of August. Quote

DrFrankenstein Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 So what about the boxes with "minor damage" after unintended polybag contact? I will give them a call to report the polybag damage on the box and see if they are willing to swap it. I don't want to send them the whole set since it will cost a small fortune in shipping, the seals have been broken (which may turn out to be an issue for them even if everything inside the box is intact), and I don't want to go through the whole process of getting a copy of the set with the requisite uncertainty again. I've already hedged my bets by getting in line for the backordered copies of the set. To TLG's credit, I've ordered a number of times from them before and every order arrived perfectly packaged and without damage. This is the first time I run into such issue and sadly it had to be with the one box that I truly care about having in near perfect condition - thanks, Murphy. My order must have been packed by a tired careless employee rushing to do his quota for the day and go home. Quote
Marcel1980 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 CS told me that the crawler is not sold out yet. But to be honest i dont believe that... Quote
losimagic Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I placed 2 orders (1 Crawler in each order) on August 1st, around 10am UK time. After sitting at Customer Services" for a bit, they both changed to "In Process", and within each order, the Crawlers are "Backordered", but the Galaxy Squad mechs are "Cancelled". I've seen lots of people saying that their mechs were shipped to them separately but I've not seen anyone else who's mechs are "cancelled". Quote
