November 25, 201311 yr There is a new article posted on the Technic blog where Markus Kossman discusses the challenges of designing the 42009 Mobile Crane MK II. Notice the 2013 sketch model. Interesting! http://www.lego.com/...2TechnicNewBlog I love the sketch model due to the fact that I love the 2005 crane. Has anybody tried to reduce the axles down to 4? Is it possible to shorten the model down?
December 16, 201311 yr The hook block is something that needs attention in this set I think(the shape is not realistic) and I have been trying a few ideas in LDD. The stock one is on the far right. Edited January 11, 201411 yr by therealjustin

January 3, 201411 yr Finally had time to build Jurgens Ultimate 42009. I also added the bigger boom by Christophe Moittie Unfortunately I didn't have enough yellow panels, but still I think the combination looks awesome! More pictures on my brickshelf folder
January 6, 201411 yr Hello, My name is Rusty and after seeing Barman's Container Crane and Jurgens Ultimate 42009 build, I decided I have to give them a try. I've spent the past few weeks learning about Rebrickable, Bricklink, and most importantly, Jurgens Technic Corner. I purchased the 42009 set and have ordered most of the additional parts needed in hopes of starting this build this next week. If anyone that has built it has any advice, I would gladly listen. Thanks for letting me on the site and thanks Jurgens for posting all the information. I am a total novice and hope to get some help moving forward. Thanks everyone.
January 7, 201411 yr Hi All, First time posting here. i am a fan of lego technic since a little kid but $$$ is an issue. now i am a dad now, would like to try to make this as a hobby. i am really keen to get the 42009 and also to build partial ultimate. i would like to only have all the moving parts except the boom extension. anyone here can provide me with a list of what i need for my build. PS: i did search through Jurgen' page and the extra list seems like for all 3 MODs to me. i would just want the first 2 parts , meaning without the boom extension. Thanks in advanced.
January 9, 201411 yr -Extended boom with return cable -Crane superstructure and engine bay enclosed -Redesigned front end -New hook block Edited January 11, 201411 yr by therealjustin
January 9, 201411 yr I really like that mod you did. I wish someone would try to add another boom section. Edited January 9, 201411 yr by Alasdair Ryan
January 10, 201411 yr The L motor lifts it fine and with a bit more speed than I thought it would. I always make sure to lift the boom upwards before extending it.
January 17, 201411 yr Hi, i'm new here and at first i want to intrduce me. I am Leo and i'm from Germany, 35 Years old and i'm building Lego since i was six. Today i want to Show you my Ultimate 42009 XXL. I build the Ultimate Version from Jurgen Krooshoop a few weeks ago and the Idea of this MOD came, when I was reading the 42009 Extended Boom Thread from Alex Zeimet. So I decided to build a bigger Version of this crane. Near the Liebherr 1400 7.1 I added one steered Axle and one for driving. Then I build the extended Boom from Christophe Moittie and added 2 11L Panels in length of each stage. The crane has 3 Pairs of Outriggers, driven by another L Motor and 650g of Lego Train Weights inside. The second stage of the Boom extends over 2 wormscrews and the third stage has a recovering cable along the inside of stage two and then between the upper side of the second stage and the first stage. The Boom length is about 155cm and the usable hook heigth is about 126cm. The complete MOD has a weight of 5.2kg. Ciao Leo Here is a Video:
January 17, 201411 yr I would like to add the 6th axel to the 42009....could anyone offer advice how to do this and what parts are needed?
January 17, 201411 yr Wow that;s amazing! Edited January 18, 201411 yr by Blakbird : Removed large quote.
February 9, 201411 yr Hello guys, I would like to present my new small update for my full RC 42009 L. It is boom reinforcement to avoid boom deflection. When the boom is extending there must be a litle human help to raise little bit the arm. Than it works fully automatic. On the other way works without any help fully automatic. On boom there is a two twelve double bevel gears which help with reeving the rope. Here is a video. Youtube: Edited February 9, 201411 yr by Kladovec
February 11, 201411 yr I am interested in putting full suspension and all wheel drive on this Crane, I am having a major road block, anyone have any ideas?
March 9, 201410 yr Hi there, here is my another small update for this set. In US there are restrictions about axle weight. So there are mobile cranes with dollys, which helping with weight distributions. Some more pictures at: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=540840
