It's not the directors fault Edna is dead, her voice actor passed away a few months ago.

The directors said that they weren't gonna kill her though, just retire her. The odd thing is that in the episode that we found out she was dead in, she made a non-speaking appearence.

They didn't say they where going to kill her, but they didn't say they wouldn't. They retired the character for good due to Marica Wallace's passing, these people worked with her for who knows how long, I feel it was a nice way of saying goodbye. Just because she hasn't turned up in the new blind bags doesn't mean she 100% won't ever.

Well that depends, there are many other examples with simply changing the actors while all of them are still alive, safe and sound. In worse cases the producers might think that they had nothing more to do with a certain character so s/he just retired "in time", just like many characters in Simpsons history, who might have more potential in this series before their sudden absence.

And I meant that having no important(iconic) female aquaintance for each member of the Simpsons is the overall story problem. If Edna was forced to be deleted, then the prior choice would only lead to the Bouvier aunts.

Yeah, but perhaps they felt it a fitting tribute to leave her character be than to replace her? She only played one character rather than vocing multiples, so as friends of her it was easier to let her rest.

I don't think that a lack of females characters justifies replacing deseased voice actors. Your forgetting that Marcia Wallace won an Emmy in 1992 for her work as Edna. To replace her with another actor really undermines all her work and the effort she put into the character.

This isn't the first Character to have been retired after an actors death, both Lionel Hutz and Troy McClure have both been retired after an actors Death.

I also don't see why they can't introduce new female characters or give other characters more of the spotlight.

Well yeah, it's more like the directors has very poor focus on Ned's relationships and other recurring female acquaintances. In current canon among the faculty of SE, Otto looks more possible than any other secondary female teacher as a Lego product.

It's nothing to do with the writers or directors. Marcia Wallace died last year.

Uh, so as said that's two different things, isn't it? Suppose that Edna was Edson instead, the result could be the same.

I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I also believe that it's doing with how much these characters relates to this show, which might result in a need for new actors, or, at least a featured funeral episode.

Well back to the lego topic, is it debatable to include a character who's been in the show for long time but isn't in a current canon? The current CMF roster is based on current canon, but somewhat weird.

If Edna was Edson, I would still be against replacing his voice actor, just as I would be against a new Lionel Hutz or Troy McClure.

Anyway, I agree that Edna should be either in the CMF or in a possible future Springfield Elementary. As both a tribute to Ms. Wallace and also because it would be really strange to exclude her from a school set, as she was here as recently as Yellow Subterfuge.

Edna's characther still has some voice acting recorded before the voice actresses death so we still see Edna in the show a little bit but also when that extra voice recording gets used up we might see her without any talking roles but all they said is that she will be retired so we can still see Edna walking around or in some crowds. I'm sure that characther in lego form because the only really educators that are important enough for lego to make is principal skinner, super intendant chalmers , and Edna if we were talking about the school set they might as well throw in mrs .Hoover . Willie dosn't really count as an educator but he has a for sure on the school set.

Edna already died in the series. That was shown in the last Sideshow Bob episode. They said Bart will get a new teacher.

The Simpsons Series was announced in september and Marcia Wallace died in late october, so the list was probably already decided when she died.

If they make a "Simpsons Series 2" we are gonna get her for sure. She is quite an iconic character and would increase the playability of the simpsons minifigures.

Oh, I didn't see that episode yet , I thought they were only retiring her. And I don think we will get another minifigure serise instead I think we will get more sets and when I checked the lego store they were sold out of the house set and it was sold out on s@h not to long ago so this line is obviously doing very good and lego has no reason to stop it

Edna is gone, her voice actor has unfortunatly passed away. Nelson and Ned both commented on missing her. The cast are clearly paying tribute to her legacy and she won't be in the show in the future of the its production. Let it go and be happy with the superb job she did while portraying an excelent character.

I agree that Edna and unfortunately Marcia are gone. I was just saying Edna may not be "Dead" in the strictest sense.

I am supremely pleased and grateful for her awesome performance

If the theme continues we'll likely get her, but she would probably be in a single set in her usual attire. If Lego will give us dead but important characters, I'd like to see "Bleeding Gums" Murphy.

I'd like a bleeding gums, is also like a Maude Flanders.

The difference here is Troy Meclure and Lional Hutz we're both silently retired when the voice actor for them passed away, whereas Edna has had 3 separate characters reference her departure.

It's sad, and I don't mean or what to see like I was having a go at anyone or anything.

I would also like to see Homer's mom, Mona, and Frank Grimes.

Lets be honest here, I think we'd like to see every character who's been on the show to show up, haha.

But yeah, I'm just made up we're getting Milhouse.

If it was up to me every CMF from now would be Simpsons.

I know! There's so many characters that aren't associated with certain buildings that could be great lego mini figures. It's like in the simpsons tapped out, so many characters not in the game yet that aren't with a certain building, but they can't make all of the available for donuts, can they?

As said there are two issues to be solved, one is the possible chances for more licenses of CMF, the other is the annual production schedule of CMF series. Before those, a second series shouldn't be expected. The common way how we get characters is still getting regular sets.
