lightningtiger Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Actually I see an error with Chief Wiggum........he's not holding a gun.....sure the loud hailer but a batten ? Oh, well a classic lego revolver in his hand will do for me......he can more dangerous......typical Wiggum - just don't him bubble wrap ! What's this talk of a second series......or is that just shooting the breeze ? Quote
HomerJSimpson Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 "Man yells at cloud" Grampa was getting his driver license and the Bouviers asked him to stay still so they could take a photo, the only thing left to finish his license. He asked them if they could use a photo of him from the local newspaper instead. Then he showed the article, and when they agreed, he looked of the window and yelled and the cloud: "Who's the winner now?" Biclops Comic Book Guy had a heart attack and had to stay in a hospital. Bart and Milhouse saved him and although he had had some hassle with them, he asked them to take care of his business. As he was more capable of doing this, Bart was in charge of the shop and Milhouse, as always, was his lackey. One day, when Bart left, Milhouse was approached by a salesman who offered him a comic with a brand new superhero called Biclops. Milhouse, when he saw the hero wore glasses, agreed and bought several thousands copies. Bart was very upset because it turned out the comic was published by an optic and it was a colossal flop. I asked a few weeks ago, yet no one replied. Do you think there will be some special stands? Printed, possibly? No, I'd think not. Most people will use them in displays, so I don't think the prints would be useful. The Simpsons minifigures series is downright tragic. Aside from a few torso pieces (and I want to emphasize the word 'few,' as most of these are exceedingly bland), the set is essentially useless for the majority of Lego builders and collectors. What's more, it feels like Lego is grasping at straws with this entire theme. The Simpsons jumped the shark over a decade ago, and is now the antithesis of funny. I go out of my own way to avoid watching any episodes newer than 2000, and as far as I'm concerned the entire series has been tainted by what it has become. While there were some figures from the Lego Movie series that I wanted, I am really concerned that this 'theming' approach to the minifigs is going to now become the rule. Give us back our random assortment or end this. I won't buy a single one of these figs. I could not DISagree more. I think that the show is very funny now, especially this season. "This was a mistake by LEGO. So they won't make military themes, or religious themes for fear of offending people, but the Simpsons are more offensive and just as violent. Not a fit for the 'Kid's brand!'" That's a quote from brick set. And I can't remember my username, so I can't reply there. I'll just reply here. It's from wunztwice. Apparently, it was a great idea, because every week the set gets sold out. It's these types of comments I see everywhere that really annoy me. Quote

Though when you look at Lego's other Licenses over the last ten years many of the movie they are from date back, ten, twenty or thirty years so what's the problem with the Simpsons ? My son who is nearly 14 loves the show.....all of them and it's those fans who Lego have done this series for.....kids can mixed and match and make their own weird and wonderful Springfield. Quote

Blondie-Wan Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I went to check Scratchy's tail and he really has one! And it's a new piece indeed, wow! With this piece, LEGO has crossed another boundary - putting pieces between torso and legs. They actually crossed that boundary with skirt-like fabric pieces, actually, starting with the Minifigures Series 3 Hula Girl, and they've done it several times with other so-called "CMFs" since then (including in this set - look closely at Lisa). Brickus Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 OMG, these look great, I'll definitely get them all. Quote

Aside from a few torso pieces (and I want to emphasize the word 'few,' as most of these are exceedingly bland), the set is essentially useless for the majority of Lego builders and collectors I hate to say it, but I agree. While the jelly donut would be nice, I don't need an army of Homers which I would need if I were going to get enough of them to be interesting for MOC purposes. All of the accessories that are interesting to me as a City builder are duplicates from past series. I don't see myself buying a single one, and my kids won't be asking me to since I won't let them watch the Simpsons (or Spongebob, or South Park, or any of the other shows that are less than appropriate for kids their ages). Add to that the rumored price increase, and I just can't rationalize buying these. I'm sure there are quite a few other LEGO fans who feel the way I do. As LT said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I really hope that this series does well enough that it doesn't end up killing off the line. One big disadvantage is the blind packaging... for those new to LEGO, they might give up after their 4th or 5th Bart. As for the house selling well, that may have nothing to do with the success of this series... I've thought about buying the house and tossing the minifigures; just for the pieces it is a great deal. The Executive Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 My favorite is Krusty. I still think he should have had some elongated shoes though. I'm really hoping these sell well because they have so many characters and variations to make like Mr.Plow Homer and Bartman. I was really hoping for Moe in the series but, come on Lego give us Moe. Quote
Rogue Angel Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Yeah, this is the first CMF series where I won't buy a single one. There are no useful parts IMO, and this just takes up a CMF spot. I was happily surprised by the Lego Movie series though, so I can live with having to pass on one series. I like the Simpsons, but I don't need to build them with Lego. I do want to build Back to the Future and Ghostbusters in Lego though, so I can take the bad with the good. Quote
TeufelHund Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Ralph just for his printed "Cho...cho...choose me tile" and Mr Burns are my favourites. Too bad Smithers didn't make the cut. Quote
Herbnosis Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Someone speculated that the rod Mr. Burns is holding is a radioactive one, but it could also be the Inanimate Carbon Rod. I suppose it doesn't really matter either way. I'll buy a few packs; I'm not really up or really down on this series either way. Quote
strangely Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 (edited) What's wrong with spongebob. South Park I get and simpsons is debatable but spongebob? I guess it depends on the age of the kids. Spongebob is rated TV-Y7 due to mild fantasy violence and some mildly suggestive humor. Recently I watched an episode where Squidward was depressed and he kept on doing things that mildly implied suicide (Like sticking his head in the oven, but it actually turns out he's just baking, tying a rope to the ceiling, which turns out to be for a birdcage, all being references to various suicides). Plus there's quite a few gruesome moments (Like Sandy borrowing Spongebob and Patrick's corneas to create a microscope, seeing those two with their eyes messed up was a very terrible image that is forever burned into my brain). So for young kids Spongebob isn't exactly the best entertainment, in fact it might be a little intense for some kids. I'm just glad Lego decided to do the Simpsons (Which is only a TV-PG show, except for a few episodes) rather than something like Family Guy. It shocks me that K'nex is doing sets for them. But it also shocks me that K'nex turned into a lazy Lego clone so... Edited March 26, 2014 by strangely Quote

gedren_y Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I have a very specific use for Apu's body. Krusty's recolored pie is a must have. A few others for parts. I have no interest in the Simpsons as a theme, but I don't really build for any existing IP. I have no problem with this being a theme, as the multi-generational popularity of the show makes it likely that Lego will pursue it further. Every new theme brings with it new parts and designs that can be repurposed. Quote

strangely Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Yes, but those are all things that kids find FUNNY! Being funny doesn't make it suitable for everybody though. Like I said, it carries a well deserved rating, so it's not unreasonable that some parents don't allow their kids to watch. Quote
Bricknblue Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Very lacking. There is nothing special about the mini figures besides the horrible heads. Quote
Faefrost Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Well that depends, there are many other examples with simply changing the actors while all of them are still alive, safe and sound. In worse cases the producers might think that they had nothing more to do with a certain character so s/he just retired "in time", just like many characters in Simpsons history, who might have more potential in this series before their sudden absence. And I meant that having no important(iconic) female aquaintance for each member of the Simpsons is the overall story problem. If Edna was forced to be deleted, then the prior choice would only lead to the Bouvier aunts. The Simpsons has a history of retiring characters when the voice actor passes, rather than seeking to recast them. They can create new characters using new voice actors. I think they just find it more respectful of the actors work. Especially for those that have been with them for so long now. Don't forget they retired several popular male characters when Phil Hartman was killed. Quote
HomerJSimpson Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Very lacking. There is nothing special about the mini figures besides the horrible heads. This is what I keep talking about. What you said isn't very considerate for people who like the simpsons. Exactly HOW are they lacking? And HOW are the heads horrible? As many people have said, normal heads would look AWFUL with prints. I've seen some, and they really are bad. Quote
iamste Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Eh, leave them to complain. You love'em. I love'em, and a bunch of other people do too :) Quote

There are a couple that would work (I made a decent Comic Book guy recently) but most would be terrible, yeah. Quote
