deskp Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 I'm thinking there will be regular minifig heads with new molds for hair/heads. Homer's would be like CM10 grandpa's, Bart's would be like CM6 sleepyhead, etc. Yeah not gonna happen, sleepyhead bart would not get approved at all, lego are making the iconic design not converting them into "how they would have looked if" Quote
Itaria No Shintaku Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 I hope the rumour of Simpons in CMF 13 is wrong for two reasons: 1 - If they do not make simpsons sets, I'm not going to buy them. 2 - If they cancel the CMF into licensed ones, thus INCREASING the price for them, im' not going to buy them. I already said that CMF were going to be cancelled and this if true would be a proof. CMF Simpsons are NOT CMF to me. Quote

It would be collectable simpsons minifigures wave 1. Either way i do not think this is the case. Robert_88 Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 (edited) I think it would be more profitable for TLG to sell sets. But in this case the minifigures are far more imporant than the sets for me. (Normally the sets are as important as the minifigures for me) Edited September 9, 2013 by Robert_88 Quote
Legoman123 Posted September 9, 2013 Posted September 9, 2013 Well I still think that there is going to be Simpsons sets this Winter. I think the only reason why the original article commented on the minifigures only is because they thought it was the most interesting thing to give out, I mean come on... finding out we are getting a lego Homer is enough to get anyone excited. So basically what I think is that they don't want to give everything out all at once. If that all makes sense ? Quote

Yes, i think every theme these days comes with a poster or some pages in the instructions listing all the minifigs with checkboxes next to them and where to find them. So theres certainly 'game' to be had collecting them from legos pov. Quote
BigDumbWookiee Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 ^ Agreed with the above sentiments. LEGO is increasing their use of language about minifigs being collectible but not in the context of being in the CMF line. Target, for instance, has a new Star Wars display which is half focused on promoting collecting all the new Star Wars minifigs - via buying the sets, of course. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 The CMF line isn't even called collectible, I believe. The line is just called 'Minifigures.' Although press releases (like The LEGO Movie press release) do call it the collectible minifigure line, so who knows. Still, we have no idea where the rumor came form or what anybody was told. The blog post seemed certain that the rumor meant that The Simpsons would be in place of a wave in the CMF line, but it could all be a mixup. Quote

just2good Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 (edited) From Nerdly: There have been plenty of rumours regarding just what we’re going to get from LEGO’s forthcoming The Simpsons licensed range, including a myriad of buildings, characters et al. Well now we have official word, from an insider at a special Fox/LEGO event, on just what the LEGO Simpsons range will entail…LEGO are set to release (much like the Olympic minifigures) a complete wave of blind-bag minifigures (series 13 to be precise), with 16 Simpsons characters to collect – including Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Apu, Chief Wiggum, Moe, Itchy and Scratchy and many more of the show’s iconic characters – which will be launched May 2014. And despite a list of proposed LEGO sets hitting the likes of Brickset and Bricks & Bloks, we can confirm that the *only* LEGO set to be launched in the first quarter of 2014 in the UK will be the Simpsons House, which is set to be made available direct to consumers (via the LEGO website and LEGO stores) in April 2014. On top of that, this new LEGO range will also be supported by a special Simpsons LEGO TV episode (much like the LEGO Star Wars specials) in May 2014! Yes please! This is fantastic news. I'm glad we're getting a D2C House set! Also, we're getting Itchy, Scratchy, AND Moe figures? That's crazy! Wasn't expecting that! Please LEGO, all we need is a Ned figure, and this will be the best thing out of 2014! Edited September 17, 2013 by just2good Quote
namioik Posted September 17, 2013 Posted September 17, 2013 Although I was looking forward to sets and not blind packs, having Lego release the house is a sign of relief... Quote

That news sounds much more feasible and I completely believe it, this sounds great, but hopefully if there is more than 1 set released in the initial wave, I hope the uk will get them all, but Im absolutely loving the fact that the Simpsons house is a d2c, hopefully it includes most of the Simpsons family (and Ned would be a great addition too). Also we can see where this is going but the CMF series sounds great, and itchie and scratchy would have great new moulds, aswell as most of the other characters. Roll on 2014 and if they come out in may I know what im asking for my birthday Quote

UH, don't expect to see characters that we can already get from the Simpsons House too. They should focus on exclusive characters and maybe some alternative versions of protagonists if they really want to. Licensed CMF isn't a bad thing, but if they do it in this way, we'll definitely hear bad news from the sales. I hope it's not true, or they'd better change their mind ASAP. Well, I think they'll have some alternate printing in the set. Maybe even include Ned in the set and not in the CMFs, or Santa's Little Helper, ect. Think about the Tower of Orthanc. Thought it didn't have figure from a CMF Series, it had figures from the other sets of the wave and one exclusive figure. Quote
Sam892 Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 I'm guessing the Simpsons house will include Homer, Bart, Marge, Lisa, Maggie, Grampa and Santas little helper. They could even include Snowball II. From that I'm guessing that at least Grampa, Maggie and Santas little helper are exclusive. Now each CMF wave has 16 figures so I think they will include, Moe, Wiggam, Apu, Mr Burns, Millhouse, Skinner, Krusty the Clown, Barney, Smithers, Nelson, Lenny and Carl with the last four being Homer, Bart, Marge and Lisa. Still in commercial aspects it's also dangerous to include lots of unwelcome figures in a collectible series. It can be great if some awesome and iconic alternative clothes can be chosen, but as the rumor said, there are too many Simpsons included at one time. CorneliusMurdock Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 My biggest concern for this business model is that they'll price most consumers out of getting the house. Personally, if it's 40-50 dollars, I'm considering buying the house, any higher than that and it won't make it in my budget. I like the Simpsons, there's just so many sets coming in themes I enjoy more. I think a non-AFOL Simpsons fan just won't drop the cash on it if it's a hundred dollar set. There's novelty and then there's reality. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 I'm not sure when I read that that it's necessarily a D2C big-expensive-model house. All it says is that the only set being released in the UK will be available only from LEGO. Keep in mind that there have been other themes only available from LEGO in the UK in the past. We also still have no word on US anything. They might be releasing that entire rumored list of sets we got before, for all we know. Still, it's a valid concern that the house will be bigger and more expensive than it needs to be. LEGO turned a cottage into a 100 buck set for the Winter Village line, after all. Quote
MonkeyCrumb Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 (edited) To me, CMF Simpsons is incredibly exciting news! There are far, far more figures I want compared to sets. And they can still make sets! So it's not an "either-or" situation. And what if this line really takes off? I would love to see MORE waves of CMF Simpsons, i.e wave 1, 2, 3, etc, to incorporate more characters and the awesome variants (Treehouse of Horror series, please!), and if there were any way they could throw in some Futurama, I'd be thrilled! (not likely, but a fan can dream, right?) As for all of the teeth-gnashing people are doing, calm down please! TLG has mentioned backing off on how many waves of CMF they do in a year, this could be seen as a way to break up the lull between releases. IIRC, TLG has NOT officially called this wave 13, only the fans have! This could still be an independant wave mixed in among the actual releases. So until TLG officially calls this wave 13, please calm down. CMF Simpsons aren't replacing the regular CMF's any more than any other product they release is. As for the figures themselves, I hope they are full 3d sculpted heads with noses. There was a blocko(?) series released about a decade ago by another company where they were cylindrical heads with printed faces, and they looked awful! SO, assuming the minifigs will be all new headsculpts, that put's the cost to manufacture higher than usual, due to minimal part reuse with at least the first wave. As we all know, TLG always plans ahead! (Hmmm, didn't we just get a new Saxophone in wave 11? Someone was thinking ahead!) Plus they did mention there will be more if sales warrants it. NOBODY has mentioned a price increase, so let's not freak out unless it's confirmed, okay? I also believe, as others here have mentioned, they plan to keep the same pricepoint because it really does help sales. I suspect TLG is investing in new molds now because they plan to do more with the license down the road. I think they'll just take less profit on this wave instead of raising the price. And as someone else mentioned, The Simpsons currently has around 5million to 8million viewers per episode. That does not include me, or a lot of other fans, who aren't currently watching the show but who will still be excited to buy Lego Simpsons. Simpsons Lego sets are far, far easier to customize compared to the minifigures. I'm far happier that the emphasis is on CMF, because I can MOC a Simpsons playset far more convincingly than I can a Simpson-style minifigure. I really think TLG's strategy is the wisest way to go about this. I still hope to see more playsets eventually, but the CMF's is where my main interest will be. That said, I really, really hope we get a Lego Simpsons Video Game out of this!! Edited September 19, 2013 by MonkeyCrumb Quote
deskp Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 You should aslo note that for molds not intended for alot of use, I am sure they use cheaper molds than the ones they use for say the 1x2 brick that they never stop producing. Quote
