Yeah, sure! But... How do I take it like that?

I would take a regular front view photo and then resized to be the same size as the real thing, that means 4 cm high.

I don't really understand all the complaining about the heads being too big. They are based on cartoon characters who have fairly large heads and/or oversized hairdos. They look perfectly fine IMHO.

If you are wanting to use them alongside normal Lego minifigures they might look a bit odd, but its a small price to pay to get the unique head shapes a lot of the Simpson characters have.

Can't you just put a ruler up to your PC screen and zoom in until it's the right size? It's not that hard...

If you compare proportions even though in the cartoon they do have oversized heads and stuff it's still way more oversized than in the show.

The problem is photos just2good posted are not taken under the straight angle (this is not a complaint, they are great and very bright so you can see all the details). Thus I can't imagine how big the heads really are.

Indeed, don't fret, it was a legitimate request. I'm working on them, just that I'm out now. :classic:

Slightly more oversized, maybe. At some point these figures are going to differ in some form from screen representations, considering they're minifigures and not scale models.

Even more so considering that the cartoon is 2D. While the characters are drawn in 3D there's still something 2 dimensional about them. So when they are converted to 3D they will always differ slightly.

My quickly done and roughly done "ideal" head mold size.

The first is Homer. The second is the minifigure magnified. The third tries to fit with the proportions which for a LEGO Minifigure is surprisingly easy. The point: It should be smaller!

(I didn't count the neck, if I do the head would be slightly smaller still)

I'd probably make it a touch bigger myself.

That one looks perfect! I wish they could make them that way :/

Now work out how much room the neck stud takes up and whether it is still possible to manufacture your 'ideal' head size without any problems.

Why do you think LEGO sized the heads they way they did? I assume they had good reasons for it, even if those reasons aren't obvious. It's certainly not malice or ignorance, so what's your explanation?

I considered the neck stud size. I simply can't tell for sure with those pictures :P.

The necks appear (to me at least) to be ever so slightly thicker than the regular minifigures. With those necks reaching nearer the border of the chest. But again, I cannot tell realistically with these pictures.

I also do not know if Lego has a minimum thickness for the neck on the heads (not the studs) which may or may not be able to be thinned.

I do not have the appropriate information. And I also don't think Lego did it out of malice or ignorance (wat? seriously?). I just showed my ideal size of the head molds. :P

Time for Uncle Justin to step in...

Good photo editing (I could barely crop that image myself), but I think the resized heads look terrible. I know it's your ideal size, but it sure ain't mine. It looks like the Buzz Lightyear head on a regular minifigure torso without any of his accesorries. It's not like a regular minifigure head that way either, as there is so much open shoulder space on the torso. I think if the head was that way for the official figures instead of the way it is now, I would react the way a lot of you are with the official figure heads we have now.

Another reason I like the official big-sized heads that I haven't previously mentioned is that it makes the minifigure look very cartoon-y and even makes the official Ned figure look adorable. At least it does to me.

Has it been mentioned that a CMF series of Simspons would be a really good idea? If not: a CMF series of Simpsons would be a really good idea.

Well, we're definitely getting one. Not sure if you know that. I agree with you completely- but I really hope we get multiple series. Granted, if they make more series, I hope they're separate from the normal minifigure line, or that they at least put out one a year in the regular CMF spot. But not many people agree with us, pal.

Also, Ojik, I'm still working on the pictures. I'll try to get 'em up tomorrow.

Is that common knowledge now?

In the catalog it says the Series 13 is "Series S" and is based on recognizable characters, and that there will be a D2C set to complete the collection of Series S, and All About Bricks (which is always right, I can't find a time when they weren't) along with some site called "Nerdly" have said that there's going to be a CMF Series along with a House set, and someone working on The Simpsons backed up Nerdly's article. So it's safe to say we're getting one, but I guess it isn't 100% confirmed until we hear straight from TLG themselves.

The next upcoming CMF series is based on the Lego Movie, but the following one (some time in April/May) will be the Simpsons. This has already been confirmed.

I wonder if the Simpsons House will be produced in Bright Light Yellow, Light Yellow, Light Orange or Medium Orange. Bright Light Yellow is currently in use, but Medium Orange looks more like the show to me.

I have a feeling it will be tan... but I'd pick Medium Nougat for sure.

So I decided to do a mockup of my own ideal head size, using a 1:1 image I found using Google Images. On the left is the original head size, on the right is my ideal.

I tried to balance height in relation to the body, width in relation to the shoulders, and practicality for production.

Thoughts?
