SoupOrFishOil Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 The sleeves and torso are cool, but I just can't get used to these heads. I'll probably pass. Quote
just2good Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Wow, he looks great! I hope this is the CMF version, as I'm sure a lot of people would just like his collared t-shirt. The short sleeves look nice too, this is a first, right? -Sci Glad you like him now! Okay, here's my hypothesis... This is not the CMF version but the version that will appear in the House set (along with the complete Ned). This is all speculation, but like I've said before, CMFs rarely leak on eBay. Heck, they've never leaked from lilibetho or lego*dudes (the person who is selling this). Even more to support this is the fact that this isn't the most recognizable Homer variation (same can be said with Ned). His main appearance is with his regular collar shirt and wide-open eyes. LEGO was nice enough to put some variation on previous figures in the D2C House set- like they did with Orthanc. So we end up with this Homer and that Ned. Now, with that being said, the CMF packs are still going to be awesome because now we're guaranteed to get those halfish-collar arms if they're here! Quote
Ojik Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 (edited) I so can't wait! Jeez, especially for the CMF! That's gonna be a super-cheap way to get minifigs without buying expensive sets I might not have liked. Also, now when it's confirmed Homer has a regular torso without an additional belly, I bet fatter characters like Wiggum or Comic Book Guy will have it, either one big head-belly combo, or something like the shell from TMNT, to show the difference between various fatsoes. Which is kinda funny, because it's Homer's fatness what is a running joke (last time used in The Hobbit couch gag, I guess). Edited December 1, 2013 by Ojik Quote

WIth the lego movie CMF's its the variations you get in the CMF bags, where the normal/standard versions comes in the building sets. Also cmf's have leaked several times. Quote
just2good Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 WIth the lego movie CMF's its the variations you get in the CMF bags, where the normal/standard versions comes in the building sets. Good point, but then again, the House set is a D2C set, at least in Europe. But who knows for sure, and like I always say- only time will tell. Since I purchased this Homer and the new Ned, we'll be able to tell really soon based on whether their torsos are made in China or not (judging by the indent on the neck). Quote
Captain Nemo Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 This new Homer figure gives me hopes; at least with the nice arm prints. I still think the head is a bit too large, but I think they're growing on me--though that'll have to depend on what the other characters look like. Since I purchased this Homer and the new Ned, we'll be able to tell really soon based on whether their torsos are made in China or not (judging by the indent on the neck). I believe they'd be made in China, or at least not in Billund, because of the arm prints. Like the CM minifigures, it seems Lego sends them outside of Denmark to make their extra printing. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 It does seem extra detailed pieces like the head molds and special printing are done in China. Looking at that figure I think I may pass. Arm printing is neat, but at the same time that means everyone else has long sleeves and may look weird in MOCs. The head isn't right for me and I don't love the print job I'll have to see the rest of the figures before I make final judgment. I may pick them up for the accessories, but the figures so far are a pass. And this is coming from a Simpson's lover. Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Absolutely hate the Simpsons, but dem short sleeves....hopefully they will come to City, they could be useful there. Quote
just2good Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Absolutely hate the Simpsons, but dem short sleeves....hopefully they will come to City, they could be useful there. I'm sure the CMF version (which I don't think this Homer is) will have the short sleeves, so would you buy a The Simpsons Minifigures pack for $3 just to get Homer with the short sleeves? I'm just curious, that's all. Quote

He has his work shirt on, which from my knowledge of The Simpsons, is worn at the nuclear power plant Quote

DarthPotato Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Since this Homer has his work shirt on I think it could still fit in the house set if he's leaving in his car or something. It could really go either way though. I'm really excited to see some other characters soon, although I don't think I'll be getting the house but I'll definitely try to get a few of the collectible minifigures. Quote

Freddy Bricker Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 One would hope they'd be shrinking on you. That quote just made my day (which ends in 2 hours!) That Homer fig looks alright, I've never seen a CMF leak, but that does seem like a wierd fig to include with the house. And do we know if the house is the only sets we will be getting? I may have asked this earlier (unsure) but I feel like we have no definite answer. Quote

For the moment being, yes, it's the only set we're getting. No other sets appeared in the catalog besides a placeholder for the House set. They can include that version in the House set as it adds exclusive variation- I'd say the same is happening with Ned. Quote

Agh ok then, thanks. Now I might have to pick up the CMF series, and if that is the only set we are getting, then what is to be thought of the set list we originally saw? Was it fake, because it seemed to have several sources. But I'm sure we'll all find out when the Summer retailers catalog leaks. It usually leaks when... Quote

It appeared on Reddit from a guy who's friend told him about it. He said they were coming in January 2014 in the UK. Interestingly enough though, the guy on Reddit posted a few set pictures early, so maybe he was a legit source but the sets got cancelled. I don't see the list being true though, as All About Bricks and Nerdly dismissed the list. Quote
montgocloud Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Personally, I think the power plant Homer will be a CMF. It just seems that this variant wouldn't really fit in the context of the Simpsons house and the iconic white shirt/blue pants would be best in my opinion. On another note, no "fat" piece on the torso like some were worried about! What a relief! Quote

On the fat piece, though, I expected at least a print indicating Homer's beer belly, like the sumo wrestler had. Quote
Oky Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Well, this Homer fig doesn't look too bad. I have to admit that the wide collar print helps to integrate the giant head with the body more, but I still think the head is bigger than it needs to be. The short sleeves are certainly a nice touch and should get a lot more people to buy these figs, even if for those pieces alone. I'm guessing we will get red and lavender short sleeves with Bart and Krusty as well. Any other potential color variations? If Lego minifigures already have rather large heads, and they are doing a license with large heads then the heads SHOULD be enormous should they not? No, that just means that there is no need to make them even larger. As they are now, the head to body ratio is just way off, even more so than in the show. One would hope they'd be shrinking on you. Good one. Okay, here's my hypothesis... This is not the CMF version but the version that will appear in the House set (along with the complete Ned). I hope you are right. I'm not planning to buy the house and (like many others) would prefer to get the normal Homer in the CMFs. I could certainly see Ned being included in the house set, especially if it comes with a grill, and while this version of Homer would be odd if it was included in the house, it wouldn't be completely illogical either. Then again, it would seem more like TLG to include these special variations in the CMFs to make you buy the large set in order to get the regular versions of those characters like they did with the Lego Movie sets. We'll have to wait and see I guess. Since I purchased this Homer and the new Ned, we'll be able to tell really soon based on whether their torsos are made in China or not (judging by the indent on the neck). I bet they are made in China. Usually when minifigs have such all-around printing like on the arms here they come from China, and the torso in those pictures looks like the same cheap plastic as those other Chinese parts. So I don't think the fact whether the parts are made in China or not is going to tell us if these are the figs from the CMFs or not. That set list seems to be a fake. It appeared on Reddit from a guy who's friend told him about it. If that guy was telling the truth, maybe his friend saw the minifigures and made set speculations based on those which then turned into rumors. That would explain why there is a "Homer at the Control Panel" set rumor since there is a Homer in work clothes minifig. After all, there were exactly 16 unique characters in that rumor list, so they could be the ones from the CMFs, but then again, several of the characters that Nerdly claimed would be in the CMFs are missing from that list, so it could just be coincidence. But yeah, that set list always sounded fake to me. Quote
gedren_y Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Remember, the word about just the D2C set and CMFs was for the UK release. The US will probably get an actual range of sets, as we are the target audience. The Homer fig shown is his work outfit, so we should get Homer at his workstation or in Mr. Burns' office. The only reason this version would be used in the house is if Homer is in his car returning home like in the opening credits. The Ned fig could be in the house set if we get the hedge and part of Ned's yard. I find this unlikely, though, and think we'll get a cookout scene with a few of the more popular characters from the episode that outfit was in. The whole issue of when these are supposed to be released may have stemmed from someone mistaking the Lego Movie CMFs release (January) for the Simpsons CMFs release (April/May). We're getting two IP CMF lines in 2014. Quote

The US will probably get an actual range of sets, as we are the target audience. Not necessarily. The danish newspaper article that we got back in August said that according to Lego's marketing director, the Simpsons will only be a small launch with possible higher production later on if the line is well-received, so one set and one CMF series is probably all we are going to get, not just in the European market, but in general, at least for now.
