badbob001 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) Just noticed that the loft above the garage is missing. This seems like a pretty big oversight, unless the loft was added in later years. I suppose if they swapped lisa/bart's rooms with marge/homer's so the master bedroom was next to the garage, then the loft space could be used for a private bathroom / walk-in closet. But then having two bedroom doors on the same side as the stairs will be a problem. I wonder if there is anything under the stairs like a closet (you can place harry potter there). I suspect there are some stickers (on wheel barrel) but I hope I'm wrong. Ok, Futurama next! Edited January 8, 2014 by badbob001 Quote
strangely Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) Just noticed that the loft above the garage is missing. This seems like a pretty big oversight, unless the loft was added in later years. You're right. Above the garage is the children's bathroom I believe (And I think below it was the entrance to the basement or something (I'm a little foggy on that, but there was a room underneath that and behind the garage)). It seems like an oversight that they literally forgot a full section of the house. That sort of bums me out, an entire chunk of the house is missing. I suppose it might have been taken out due to the fact that the garage is sort of separate from the rest of the house which would admittedly make it difficult to implement. I suppose this just gives me another reason to mod it some. They probably had to axe that section of the house to lower the price point as well. I'm sure the prototypes for this house were very interesting. And yes, Futurama please. I would buy all of them. Hypnotoad commands you to make Lego sets. Edit: The blueprints online show that a child's playroom is located behind the garage (I recall a joke about Maggie and a credenza taking place in that room). So yes, indeed a section of housing is missing from the house. Also the blueprint reveals that the house isn't deep enough, really it would have to be twice as deep to fit all the rooms. For being poor the Simpsons do live in a remarkably large house. Edited January 8, 2014 by strangely Quote
Clone OPatra Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I don't think it really detracts from the house for that part to be gone. You barely ever even see it from the outside - it's kind of tucked away. I couldn't have even told you that existed! The meat of the house, its main look and the garage, is there in the set, and that seems perfect. Quote

The meat of the house, its main look and the garage, is there in the set, and that seems perfect. That's true, it mostly caught me off guard. I fully understand why they didn't bother with it and it doesn't ruin the look by any means. It's just disappointing that they missed it. It wouldn't be too much to add a facade if I really find it bothers me. The colors are common enough to track down and assemble. I already knew I'd want to change the room layouts, I'll just have to add this to my list of things to fix. At least when it comes to missing elements it wasn't overly vital. Quote
just2good Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Just noticed that the loft above the garage is missing. This seems like a pretty big oversight, unless the loft was added in later years. Eh, I really don't mind that. It would be pretty hard to have it connect top hallway. As for CMF variants, I'd like to see adult Bart, adult Lisa and teen Maggie from the 'future' episodes. We will probably get El Barto, since reprised a few times. I also would like Kodo and Podo, but the only discernable difference between the two are the voices. As for the pets, which Snowball would we be getting, I, II, or III? I'm sure they'd do that- if there's multiple CMF Series. The first series should just have the "iconic" variations of the characters, and would include the most recognizable characters. We would get Snowball V, who is basically just Snowball II. Don't worry, these are only variations on the regular versions we'll be getting in the Collectible Minifigure series. Speaking of which, when are we going to see pictures of those? Late February? Definitely in February or late January. They'll be at the British Toy Fair later this month, but there's no photography allowed there, so we should see them at the German Toy Fair late January or the American Toy Fair early February. Why would LEGO put ugly stoned looking figures in the iconic house set and the regular figures in the CMS? That makes no sense to me. If I'm going to spend around $200 on 1 set, everything should look great. In my opinion these figures look like a mess. Faces are weird and stoned looking, Bart and Lisa look like they're fat, and Maggie is too tall. Don't get me wrong, the house is beautiful but I'm not going to spend $200(maybe more) on just a house. I just think the Simpsons are not meant to become LEGO and the only reason why I'm going to get all 16 CMF'S is for the completionist in me(damn it haha) Because this is a D2C set that will be sold and produced in less quantities (most likely) than the CMF Series. The link you posted said that you can own a set early on January 17th if your a VIP and get to preview a set that'll be available early to VIP's on February 17th. Obviously the January release will be the Sea Cow, as has been confirmed earlier, and that means the "preview" set has to be... There's no early VIP release January 17th. February 17th has one, but it's the Sea Cow. I'm sure March 17th will be the early VIP release for this. Quote
Freddy Bricker Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 ^ I'm pretty sure taht's what CM4S's link said, a January 17th early release, and a preview of a February 17th release, maybe I'm just out though Quote
Carlos S Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Now in Belgian newspapers (& 9gag) too Carlos. Has your source already built the house? No, and I think he just sold it today for $4,500 MXN, around $350 USD, so I guess the actual cost would be around $250 USD Quote
Dr Leg O Brick Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Slightly off topic, but I had something to add to Clone O'Patra's previous point, about it being sold in specialist shops such as DVD and Music vendors. I went down to my comic store in 2008, found a Indiana Jones set, bought it, and I've been a AFOL since, more or less. Same too, kind of, goes for all my Friends, so I can see it very much selling well, and getting new AFOL's into the hobby. I'm a casual watcher of Simpsons, I've got a few of the earlier seasons and a couple of the specials on Video, and I've got to say, it's rather impressive this house. Sure, it's not 100% accurate, a couple of the minifigures look high, but what the hell, Lego are trying to make money. You buy the house, then you notice the CMF's, buy a few of those, then you notice the Lego Movie CMF's, and buy a few of those. Then you see the Lego movie sets, and buy say the cheapest. And then the cycle starts. I can't afford it most likely, between City/Space/Agents/Marvel/Lego Movie etc, but it still looks fantastic. P.S A belated well done, just2good, for becoming famous! You'll never live this down. Quote
montgocloud Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 So will this supposed LEGO Simpsons TV show be just another episode of the Simpsons only LEGO themed? Or something else entirely? (Sorry in advance if there is a separate topic for the show) Quote

badbob001 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 It is possible that this is a beta design? But even if so, I doubt the final design will be much different as evident with the beta box shots we saw for the Disney Princess sets. So no hope for a restored loft. It's likely that this large set took years to design and finalize as opposed to the simplistic Disney Princess sets so late major design changes are unlikely. The front diagram shows that all the roofs are removable. I would have expected the entire second floor to be removable like modular buildings but it looks like only the rear of the second floor is, which most likely is to give better access to Bart's room. badbob001 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) Unofficial build with roof tiles modification. This is pretty cool. I'm sure your model of the main house is close to the same dimensions, but rendered, it looks rather small. Amazing what the camera lens can do for scale. The original garage looks wider, but that also may be an illusion. The original garage roof seems to be 3-4 studs longer on either side compared to yours. Edited January 8, 2014 by LuxorV Quote
Faefrost Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 The house is really growing on me. And now I'm kinda curious about Bart's room, which can't be seen in the photos? Also sleeves molded on minifig arms. WooHoo! Ok, Futurama next! Oh don't tease me so. I would kill for a Planet Express building done in this manner. Quote

Dr Leg O Brick Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) Looks like the back of Bart's legs are printed! At 2.36. I'm pretty sure that's a first. For some reason, it look's smaller. Nether the less, a good set. Edited January 8, 2014 by Dr Leg O Brick Quote

strangely Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 I saw the video too. Are the sleeves really molded or just painted? If molded, I would buy a set of just those arms in every color! :) They do look printed, but I would think the printing would scratch off around the arm joint if it were. And if it is printing it really looks solid, usually the colors end up looking a bit thin when you print a solid color over a solid color. Perhaps by molded it means two colors of plastic molded together. It is definitely impressive. I can't wait to find out the process behind it. The house is really growing on me. And now I'm kinda curious about Bart's room, which can't be seen in the photos? It's on the back of the box, there's a little picture of Bart lying in his bed. Granted we can only see a portion of it. Quote
