AGGGGHHHHHH! (Homer's scream) LEGO keeps trying to take my money! I was just a Star Wars guy, but then they brought back Harry Potter. Then DC/Marvel superheroes. Then LOTR/Hobbit. Then TMNT. And now...THE SIMPSONS! I just can't win!

My guess is that we'll be seeing a lot of small sets. Probably things like the Simpsons' car and small location-based sets like the KwikiMart and Simpson living room with couch. Sure there are large sets they could make (a huge Simpsons house, the Power Plant, even the Monorail), but I think if they are just testing the waters/focusing on just adults they won't do that. I feel their target audience is going to be adult Simpson fans who will buy a small set or two to put on their desk at work.

I wonder if they are going to pull a TMNT or LOTR where you have to buy a majority/all of the sets if you want all five members of the Simpson family.

I'm torn on if I want to see standard minifig heads or molded Toy Story-like heads. Either way, this is going to require a LOT of brand new molds for LEGO. If they do molded heads, a new mold for every character. If they do standard heads, they still have to make new molds for the hairpeices for Lisa/Maggie, Marge, Bart, and most of the cast. I hope those new molds don't inflate the price tag. Gulp! :sceptic:

Man, I'm excited for this!

Hmm, I love the idea in theory but i'm just not sure it will work. I have no doubt the prices will make most license themes look cheap. However if done correctly think this will be great! As a vehicle man i would love to see the car homer made, The canyannero and of course the family cars. I also expect many new moulds, I suppose they could use something similar to the grandpa headpiece for homer? Also this will be the first yellow licensed theme for years :oh3: .

What about a Simpsons Lego video game...

I don't have negatvie opinions. Not all LOtR fans who bought Lego sets have watched Star Wars, so don't say if must fail if you never watch the show.

There are still some interesting building designs in the series. Hope that we can see good sets appear.

Just out of interest (not sure if this is okay to post here) but what sets do you think we are going to see straight away ? it just might be good to hear other peoples opinions on it, because some people say small sets, and other people say fairly big sets ?

Well, the Simpsons is definitely a pop culture icon so I think it's totally appropriate! Better to see this (along the lines of Star Wars and Marvel/DC superheroes) than some flop of a license like the Lone Ranger.

I think there's a lot of potential here - and not an "action theme", so what? It's basically a licensed, cartoon-version Town series, which has been a Lego mainstay since, what, the beginning? :)

If I were to guess... some semi-big set (Evergreen Terrace house?), a medium-sized one (Quik-e-Mart?), a smallish set (the family car) and a couple $10-12 figure sets with small scene (any number of things).

If it's a hit, maybe we might see large sets like Bart's school, etc. But I think this is the best we can hope for at the moment.

Whatever this theme looks like, it's unlikely to be as impressive as people imagine it to be. Licensed themes are never as impressive as people think they'll be. Having said that I'm fairly ambivalent towards this theme. I neither love nor hate The Simpsons. I guess that much like every other theme I won't buy any sets and I'll just buy any new and cool parts from Bricklink or Ebay.

Honestly, speaking as a fan of the Simpsons (I've been one since I was in diapers when they first came on TV) I'm excited about what sets they could make, even if they're fairly small. Of course key locations would be a must, but I'm worried about a couple of things, namely how they'll tackle the minifigures and what sets they'll do; either sets based on classic episodes (Monorail, Mr. Plow, Flaming Moe's) or do iconic scenes (Simpson household, Kwik-E-Mart, Power Plant, Lard Lad Donuts, Krusty's show, etc.)

Has anyone cracked a Blocko joke already?

Not here.

It is possible (but unlikely) to get a Blocko-Land set (they had that in an episode and "Lego Land" in another I believe). It would be very meta, but pretty fun.

Absolutely :D I'd love it!

I'm still not convinced there will be any sets at all, and I bet it will be a figure series - every news report I've read mentions 'characters' and 'figures' but never 'set' or anything similar, or even 'theme'. Does someone have a link to a news release or other source that specifically says there will be sets?

Indeed, you may be correct. Ever since the rumor atarted, they have always only mentioned characters. I don't see why there wont be sets, be there might just not be... Until it gets popular.

Ugh, well here is the Simpsons blocko then: http://www.amazon.co...e/dp/B000062YJK

And there is more of them, Ive seen these for years but thought it was relevant to only mention them to coincide with the blocko discussion :classic:

Ohh Gods MY EYES, it burnnnns!!!!

Extra Extra Lego group buys Bloko

I'm going to have to agree with Gregory over there, on the characters thing (untill proof to the contrary). I wonder if they will have noses?

Just to get the ball rolling...

What we may get if they are lego system style:

http://www.nohomers.net/showthread.php?97467-The-Simpsons-Lego-Project-that-could-become-official-lego!

These actually look good, but it wouldn't work for every character specially the non human-like shaped heads (looking at ya Bob)

http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn266/michaelmidnite/009-2.jpg

Or if they are more sculpted heads (BLOCKO style I guess):

Will Carl and Apu be yellow heads? Or Homer a fleshie (Inquiring minds want to know  )

Will we start going to Blocko Stores instead of Lego stores??

... stay tuned for these and other developments.

Please no CMF series, please no CMF series, please no CMF series...

I hate blind packaging and I buy none of it anymore. I'll probably buy every set until I get the whole family, but if they CMF bag it... nope. I'll just Bricklink it.

A while back I remember a big discussion on the Friends line commenting on how few "girlie" colors are actually used in the designed-for-girls sets (ie lots of tans, whites, etc). Now look at the interior of the Simpson's house or the color schemes of any building in Springfield. Any set, if built to accurately reflect the show, will be bright and pastel surpassing anything Friends has given us. And this from a TV show that heavy skews to the male gender. Not saying this is a good thing or a bad thing...just commenting.

Also, in case anyone here wants my opinion (cuz that's why you all come to this site, right? To get others' opinions?) this will be a single wave only. Yes, I could come up with dozens of set ideas. Yes, there are still a lot of fans out there and if you add in the adult who stopped watching but long for its nostalgia, it's a huge fan base to draw from. But AFOLS are still a small portion of Lego-buyers and I just predict a one-and-off here.

That said I'm excited enough to buy them all, I'm sure.

I posted this on the Brickset forums but here's how I think they'll do some figures...

Short sleeves would be nice but not the most necessary thing. In my opinion, what is necessary and what I think we'll get is one whole head/hair piece for Bart that looks like a minifigure head with no space between his face and hairpiece (as it's one whole piece) maybe like Kranxx from SP3. The only downside to this is that it wont allow you to put helmet pieces on him. This can be solved with maybe a regular head piece Bart in a skating set with a helmet piece, but I doubt they'd do that.

My first thought is perfect and seems likely.... But Lisa/Maggie are gonna be hard for their hairpieces. I imagine Maggie to have a Mermaid/Squid King like legs (funny coincidence to the Tree House of Horror segments, but that's not what I meant) that slope like she's in the blanket, with a regular torso. I'm still wondering how they will do their hair pieces, or if it will just be one whole head.

Dayum.

I did not see this coming. I was CERTAIN this rumour would pass as "No". But son of a B----, LEGO went with it.

Hey, mabe a majority of these will be modulars ( Krusty's Burgers, Lard Lad's Donuts, etc.) The Minifigs will sure enough will have new head molds.

Overall, I'll get a few of these.

I honestly haven't watched the simpsons since the movie came out in 2008? That's one show that has run it's course many times over. I would of rather seen something else.

OMG GUYS

From r/lego:

My friend works at a toy shop in the UK. He emailed me a list of Simpsons sets that will be showing up in winter of this year.

"Bart's Skate Trick about £10 incl. Bart, Milhouse Homer at the Control Panel about £20 incl. Homer, Berns, Smithers Lisa's Sax Preformance about £30 Lisa, Marge, the two twins from the opening Springfield Shops about £50 Bart, cashier at Krusty Burger, Krusty, Apu, Nelson Simpson's house about £70 Bart, Homer, Marge, Lisa, Maggie, Grandpa, Flanders, the dog"

He lives across the pond but I do intend on keeping his identity secret from Lego so I was instructed to post this here. I would take his word on this but not get to high in hopes; though he was correct about Lone Ranger and TMNT set lists last August, he was wrong with half of the Star Wars sets the same time. It seems very likely as the rumor was confirmed of Simpsons sets as a small wave like TMNT.

I am not a big fan of Lego but I do collect. I am not sure if this is the right place to post this. Take care and god bless.

PLEASEEEEEE BE TRUE PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

If it is, BAM, my life is complete. :cry_happy:

Oh, and reformatted easy to look at set list:

- Bart's Skate Trick about £10 incl. Bart, Milhouse

- Homer at the Control Panel about £20 incl. Homer, Mr. Burns, Smithers

- Lisa's Sax Performance about £30 Lisa, Marge, Sherri, Terri

- Springfield Shops about £50 Bart, cashier at Krusty Burger, Krusty, Apu, Nelson

- Simpson's House about £70 Bart, Homer, Marge, Lisa, Maggie, Grandpa, Flanders, Santa's Little Helper

Gosh, they sound great, now time to elaborate assuming they are just2good to be true, thanks for the news:

-Skateboard ramp, maybe a bin, street lamp other scenery

-As it suggests a control panel maybe with sliding doors and a plutoneom rod feature (trans green short light sabre piece)

-This one is a bit difficult, maybe a music classroom from Springfield elementary with most likely the cmf11 jaz musician saxophone?

-Kwik E mart and Krusty Burger (Im surprised that these are in the same set although it sounds great)

-Needless to say really, the Simpsons house, maybe with a tree house and garage, but seemingly as its £70 may mean it is quite detailed, and I shall look forward to this one the most, and that it includes Flanders could mean there might be no Flanders house

Now where are the leaked pictures :classic:
