Cult_Of_Skaro Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 If they had non molded faces, it wouldn't work as well, IMHO. Especially Homer. Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 Well I'm not concerned with the faces (I'm sure they would have been fine either way) but I'm disappointed with the lack of a belly piece for Homer to make him look fat (similar to what Bombur from The Hobbit had, but as a neck piece rather than attached to the hairpiece). It's unfortunate but there are numerous characters who, if made by LEGO for this theme, will suffer from the same issue as well. Quote

That would look- I can't even explain how AWFUL that would look. Homer isn't FAT, comic book guy is fat. Quote

Homer isn't FAT, comic book guy is fat. Well, I'm not sure how it would work or how they would make it actually look good, but I think it would be nice and would add some more dimension to the minifigures. This problem was also present with the Sumo Wrestler; it made no sense to have him be the same scale as all the other minifigures. The same can be applied to numerous characters from The Simpsons, though it probably wouldn't look very good (if it was a neck piece it would make the minifigures even taller, which is really not necessary). HomerJSimpson Posted March 14, 2014 Posted March 14, 2014 If Santa's Little Helper, Snowball ll, Mr. Teeny and maybe a hound are not in the series, I'll make my own. Like so: SLH: an old brown dog that I will paint with some eye detail and rib cage details. Snowball: a cat from gramma that I will paint black. I will paint the eyes yellowish. Mr. Teeny: a monkey with tan hands and painted details for hair and eyes. Hound: a German Shepard painted to look like a simpsons hound. Quote
Cammo Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 I think they're release on the 21st of April. My guess is next Friday on the 21st of March. Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 When should we expect to see pictures? Well, these are coming out in April aren't they? Based on that, I'm sure it's only a matter of time until pictures finally emerge. I bet if we wait a week or so pictures will have emerged. Well, I certainly hope we get pictures soon; I want to know whether these will be worth buying or not. Quote
just2good Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 I think they're release on the 21st of April. My guess is next Friday on the 21st of March. For sure on April 1st. But, it is possible that they'll be released somewhere in Europe before like Series 10 and 11. Quote

Alpha team Beta Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 I know this is slightly off topic but I wonder if the simpsons tapped out will do anything for the lego episode. Quote
TrumpetKing Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 The schedule for minifigs has always been a series in January, a series in May , and a series in September, with series 1 starting in May. However, the LEGO Movie series came out officially very late December, so I'd expect these to be out very late April, if not the start of May, with pictures coming out any time now. Quote
gedren_y Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Given that the Simpsons Lego episode is debuting on May 4th, and in the CMF discussions have the Simpsons CMF series as May release, we'll probably see pictures some time in April. We'll probably see tv promos at the end of April. Quote

gedren_y Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 It is possible that the release date was moved up, but more likely is that April 21st is when Amazon is projected to have them in stock. Retailers have been known to have new Lego sets in stock well ahead of the official release date. It is only a matter of ten days that we're talking about here, or thirteen if Lego was planning on waiting until the air date of the episode. Quote

It is only a matter of ten days that we're talking about here, or thirteen if Lego was planning on waiting until the air date of the episode. While that is true, it isn't usually online retailers who are able to sell new sets earlier than intended. More often than not, it's small shops that end up getting an early shipment of sets and putting them on shelves before they are allowed to. In the case of CMFs so far, it seems to be that a random country gets them a month or so earlier than everyone else, though I suppose that is less likely to happen with this series than the others. Dorayaki Posted March 17, 2014 Posted March 17, 2014 (edited) I know this is slightly off topic but I wonder if the simpsons tapped out will do anything for the lego episode. Well one problem is whether it would show other popular non-phisycal characters, or the plot writer would just try to make the CMF characters appear in this episode only. It's looks like that the animation would aim at advertising the CMF series. Yeah, it seems to devalue the house set a good bit if there are no characters exclusive to it. I'm not a huge Simpsons fan, but I would be more likely to consider buying the house if the minifigures included were at least characters that were exclusive to that set. (Of course, I would be personally more likely to buy into the Simpsons theme if the figures didn't have molded faces - I really think they could have been done with standard minifig construction. I'm probably alone in that, but it is a pretty big disappointment to me...) Yes, both are huge dissapointments to me. I don't mind molded faces but at least there should be interchangeable hairpieces. Edited March 17, 2014 by Dorayaki Quote

This problem was also present with the Sumo Wrestler; it made no sense to have him be the same scale as all the other minifigures. That's always been the case with LEGO minifigures, though. Women, men, small children, elderly, bodybuilders, fat people, etc. all use the same trapezoidal torso, all the same size. If TLG were going to do specific molds for one of those body types, why not all? But then you could have a situation where there'd be dozens or even hundreds of different molds for different torsos, and everything would be vastly more specialized and less usable for other things. I don't think that would be good at all. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 I personally prefer the printing of the belly on the torso. It worked well for the Sumo wrestler and it looks good on the Homer figure. The molded heads will take some getting used to, but I like the current torso prints as it stands. Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 I think some of the characters do need molded faces though. The way I see it, now that all characters we have seen so far have moulded faces, this trend needs to extend to any future minifigures produced in this theme. After all, it would be very inconsistent to have some characters with moulded faces and some without. The non-moulded faces also probably wouldn't look right either. Quote

Thelegomaster Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 This is just one of those midnight thoughts but, has anyone considered the lego simpsons episode could be animated by Animal Logic ( the people who animated the lego movie)? Quote
Coopa182 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Apparently Moe is confirmed (again): http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEGO-SIMPSONS-MINI-FIGURES-BLIND-BAGS-NEW-UNOPENED-PRE-ORDER-/151248219711 As they haven't listed 16 characters I think I'd still trust the Amazon list over this one. Quote
