I think it's just a case of Lego wanting to make their toys look like The Simpsons (with more accurate molded heads), but the show wanting to make their show look more like toy (with the printed heads). Probably nothing more to it, especially not the idea that the impractical and ugly printed heads is because Homer imagined them like that because he is stupid.

I agree that they did it this way to make it look more like Lego. Admittedly the molded heads are quite similar to how K'nex handled Family Guy, so distinguishing the look was a good choice.

But as I said before, there are in show reasons to justify it too. Homer would have grown up with the traditional minifigure, so it seems likely that's what he'd dream. As for him being stupid I do think it's a good reason to justify why the printing and hair pieces don't conform to Lego standards. I just think it looks intentionally like a custom, with the differing facial styles and the printing going on all sides of the minifigure. And while I don't think it's the main reason for it, I do think it played some part. The Simpsons have always been pretty detailed oriented and somehow I think they probably thought this one through as well.

And as I said before the in show justifications are crap. Forcing a justification for a decision that was clearly about budget is pointless.

We've all heard the "Homer is just an idiot" explanation. No matter how many times it's summarized it's still a crappy reason.

I picked up four of the blind packs when my shift at work was finished, and I got: Mr. Burns, Nelson, Bart, and Itchy. In my personal opinion, they look much better in person than in pictures.

Also, is there anything sort of number or marking on the packaging that gives somewhat of a clue as to what figure is inside?

Personally, I think their explanation is closer to the truth than yours, but that doesn't matter. You're entitled to your opinion, just as they are entitled to theirs. However, there's no need for these kinds of qualifications of other people's reasoning. It are qualifications like this that can turn a thread into another big argument.

To all of you: you disagree about the reasons they decided to use more traditional LEGO heads in the TV show. It's clear you're not going to convince each other, so there's no point repeating your opinion over and over again.

No clue except feeling the bags individually. My significant other and I were rubbing the bags for a good 45 minutes. Got them all with no doubles

I don't know if has already been said, but I can confirm that the euro price is the same as before (2,5€), at least here in Italy. They just displayed them today and I got all the ones I was most interested in! It was a slow process, but not that difficult to feel them if you know what to look for; I guess the most difficult would be Ralph and Milhouse, that only have different heads, and not that different to begin with. Fortunately the weren't on my list. I might pick up some of the others next month :)

I went and bought eight more of the blind packs, 6 out of 8 were new figures, which are: Ralph, Marge, Maggie, Ned, Cheif Wiggum, and Krusty.

The two dups (Mr. Burns and Bart) were given to a friend of my who not only is a fan of LEGO, is also a fan of The Simpsons. Based on his response, he likes the figures.

Nothing yet. As soon as we get them in Lego shop where I work, will post it here.

Picked up a set yesterday (19/04/2014.) in the UK (South coast.) all felt out for me in a bag waiting behind the counter by friendly store staff who knew I wanted them. They came in the delivery on 18/04/2014 from what i can gather.
