I would love a comic book store, provided it's done justice! Atm the only set that I am hanging out to see pictures of is the house, but if a comic book store is confirmed then the house may have to take second place!

Well techically the $20 set is part of the power plant. In terms of Moes tavern, I could see why many people think it wouldn't be made. However I think it will be eventually, it may even be a Toys 'R' us Exculsive this year. LEGO has made Taverns in the past with The Hobbit and Pirates of the Caribbean. While these past taverns have been in historical settings I don't see why Moe's wouldn't be made at some point. After all it isn't like the Winchester which is realistic, Moe's is very cartoonish and about the characters over the content.

I mean there is no way in Lego Land that LEGO will make the cooling tower of a power plant.

Worst. Idea. Ever. I must hurry to my internet forums and blast the very notion of a comic book store.

The above is a lot funnier of read in the comic book guy's voice. With that said, I think we could get one sometime, but it doesn't come off as first wave material. But you would almost need another Bart and Milhouse and maybe a sticker sheet for Radioactive Man comics. Although it'd be sweet if they just put him in the set too.

I don't think LEGO would shy away from the power plant because it's a power plant (Why exactly is that politically incorrect now?).

I agree that a full size cooling tower probably isn't going to happen but it'll be because it would take up too much of a set and wouldn't have enough play functions to offset that.

Why would LEGO have agreed to a license if they were going to shy away from the iconic locations? Would they have agreed to a license if they were going to? Erm no. Lets not let kids play with cartoon alcohol or a cartoon power plant. Why? If you don't want the kid to play with the stuff then don't let them watch the show either.

I really hope we get Mr. Teeny (krusty's monkey) in the Springfield shops set, what do ou think the chances of that are guys ?

No chanse of that at all, the monkey isn't connected with the Krusty burger.

I didn't think that matter. We could get him..., after all he is to do with Krusty.:grin:

Nah, he's unimportant and doesent fit the set. Had it been a tv studio set or soemthing like that it would be a different story, And I think lego is focusing on making more important characters, some monkey hardly seems worth a mold.

I cant wait to see the house, I didn't want to spend a lot on this theme but if they are going to give us the whole family and the house in one set then I am in, much better than how many sets you need to get 4 TMNT. I just hope the house is good, open back is ok but I hope its a good size and does not just use large pieces.

If we did, that would be amazing. I think it would look something like Salacious B. Crumb, from the Jabba's Palace set. But I don't think that we will. :dsad2:

If that is the case with the minifigures, i'm not sure I will be buying these sets.

I think this whole theme will fit very nicely with the FRIENDS theme, colorful "normal life" buildings and locations.

I doubt they'll do the figures like the Friends line, though.

ok I am a bit calmer now, I don't think figures will be like Friends but I do think the house could be which I still wont like

Do you have an exmaple of a lego set that is in the style you would want the house?

It won't be a huge exclusive 360 model, wich means it'll proapbly be a dollhosue style house, and seeing as its just a relatively flat house there's not much special building to be done. the front windows could be something though!

I would be more than happy with a dollhouse style with an open back like most of our LOTR sets but I don't like 3315 Friends Olivia’s House. I think at the price and given the number of figures I am worried how much they have left for the house. It is relatively flat house but you can still use lots of smaller bricks rather than a few big bricks.

more creator house, less friends house

What exactly is wrong with the Friends house? I think it's a lovely modern model, and it's mostly tan anyhow with just some pink/purple/other color accents.

Regardless, the Simpsons house won't look like that because it doesn't. It's a fairly average and boring looking (plus monochrome) house. I can see LEGO doing it in a muted orange color, since that would pretty much match the show.

There is no way LEGO will make a nuclear power plant after the events of Japan. It's that simple. Germany is planning on closing their nuclear power plants within 15-20 years, and Germany is a top country or LEGO.

Why would LEGO take a license for The Simpsons and not make iconic locations? Because they have so many characters, LEGO cares more about the minifigure than the sets. And it's not like there aren't so many locations to make.

Plus they have figured out how to make

One of the sets in the set list is set at the nuclear power plant and has homer's control booth. They still make iconic locations even though figures are very successful the set is what people buy. Kids care about play features but as this isn't a kid show these sets will most likely be aimed at an older audience say mid teens-adults. There are a lot of locations in the franchise actually plus some quite colourful ones at that. Minifigures are a high priority but that doesn't mean Lego doesn't care about the sets as much as figures. Just see the lone ranger sets. Brilliantly detailed figures and pretty well made sets. This theme may be good but as there is a low number of figures in the prelim set list I think this is more about the sets themselves and getting accuracy with the television show in both figures and sets.

We can't really compare this theme to the Lone Ranger because LR is a totally not-iconic movie (like Prince of Persia). A majority of people interested in LR sets aren't interested because they love the characters, so LEGO has to make really good sets to sell the theme.

Now, I hate whenever anybody says 'LEGO doesn't care about the sets.' It's flat-out not true; they're a company that has art-trained designers hard at work making sets, of course they care about the designs. But at the same time, certain themes are going to sell because of characters people love. Look at TMNT - frankly most of those sets are lackluster, but the Turtles are brilliant and who doesn't want a full set of Turtles plus other favorite TMNT characters? The same goes for Star Wars - people WILL buy sets just for unique minifigures (though that's not to say nobody at LEGO cared about the set, since they did).

The Simpsons does fall under the category of people buying the sets for the minifigures. I truly hope the sets themselves are nice, and I bet they will be, since the designers at LEGO do care about what they're doing. I can't see how they could screw up fairly simple scenes and settings; they'll either be alright or awesome. But regardless, people will buy them for the figures. 'Nuff said.

As to the Power Plant debate - LEGO isn't going to make a nuclear tower because… why the heck would they? There's no playability to that, and it would have to be teensy. Unless they make a micro Springfield… which would be awesome. But that's just a pipe dream.

Open back, non-neglected interior design, using wide variety of pieces big and tiny (including but not limited to few wall panels)... just my speculation but I think Friends style is gonna be the clear winner here.
