There that's better *y*

It's pretty good for a first castle. I know my first castles weren't any better,

and i had more pieces to work with it seems :-D

I'd try to make a guard house or tower first,

then eventually make a bigger, better castle after you've aquired more bricks (and experience).

Keep in mind though, i haven't built a MOC castle in almost ten years *wacko* (too much into pirates)

so my opinion shouldn't matter too much.

Edit:

Oh yeah, with that chariot, i was wondering how the driver gets on the chariot to drive it.

i can't see it with the pic above. thanx

I bid you my belated welcome to the history forum, mike f.

From what I can see it looks like the majority of your structure comprises the "King's Castle" and the "Battle At The Pass" along with some harry potter elements and that old KK1 window piece. I also spotted a black falcon shield. Is that from a recent harry potter set or from something older?

These newer sets lead me to believe that you're new to the castle theme (or am I off base?) and if you are, do you plan to expand this structure, or are you just experimenting? Also, are you interested in the new castle theme? What are your thoughts? How does it compare to the previous efforts put forth by TLC?

Thoughts on the MOC:

The main model is interesting, but it feels a bit too flimsy. I don't know how many pieces you have, but perhaps you could build something smaller, like a peasant's home if you're straining for pieces at this point? I like the details such as the fountain and the blacksmith (it's also the perfect use for that sword!).

My favorite part of your MOC is the forest. The design of the tree in the background is a very creative use of pieces. Perhaps you could take more pictures of this part of your MOC?

The tree is what stands out for me. It might be a good idea to go with a smaller footprint and a bigger building in your next MOC.

God Bless,

Very interesting design. Nothing I have ever seen before. I think it is good, except for the walls. Anything could get over those puny walls. You should make them a bit higher to create a more realistic feel. I love the use of the different figures. By the way, what is with the forest. Is it part of the MOC. From the looks of the pics, it has displays in the bottom? Otherwise, great set.

Its a very good start.

I think it looks a bit cobbled together, by which I mean, the various parts don't really flow together well. I'm guessing a lot of that is because you are limited in parts. Without a fairly large supply of parts, its hard to make something that flows together.

I you've also got too many colors (black, brown, lt grey, dk grey, and blue), I would suggest sticking with no more than three main colors. You can use some others to avoid big grey wall syndrome, but the don't use any more than two or three colors.

I really like the foresty hill in the background. It looks very overgrown and woodlandly.

I am not sure why but I like this. If looks sort of odd with some of the color choices but the design is actually really nice. I would try giving the walls more height though.

Another thing you might want to do is have it open up. That is always my favorite play feature.

Thank you for the good coments everyone. The chariot is not my idea, but I might be able to post pictures of it soon.

I knew the castle was squished, so now I am currently building a small vingettish tower that is almost 5 stories high. I might post pictures in a couple days. And this time it will have more realistic colors and won't have a puny wall.

I did buy King's Castle but not Battle at the Pass. The black falcon shield is from the Durmstrang Ship. I am pretty interested with Castle and hope to make some better MOCs once I buy some August 2007 castle sets.
