Burf2000 Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 So something I have been working on for a show, I am going to add a carriage so that I can pull kids along. 100% LEGO 10 NXT's 20 NXT motors and uses LEGO track. Sadly cant go round bends Quote
eurotrash Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 That was traveling a lot faster than I was expecting! Thanks for sharing it with us... Quote
Burf2000 Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 Once I get more track I will take it to work and do a proper run Quote
Burf2000 Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 LEGO 16L single train track but in 2 pairs http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3228c Quote
timslegos Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Wow crazy as usual! I think you need a longer track though! tim Quote
FuzzyBallz Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 I was thinking, OMG, what is that dude doing, he's gonna break the train! But then he started the train, and I was like, OMG it's going so fast! Quote
Burf2000 Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 Here is a close up, slightly out of date as its now longer but gives you an idea Quote
Aqualize Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 How much does that 'engine' weight (batteries included)? Quote
Zerobricks Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 NXT motors carry the weight directly, or are there some bearings? Quote
Burf2000 Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 Its pretty heavy to be honest probably 10KG or more, the motors do actually act as part of the support for each wheel. There are no bearings Quote
Doc_Brown Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 That's just about the craziest thing I have ever seen made from Lego. But its your cheeky grin that made me laugh!!!! Quote
Ramacco Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Maybe you should make your train a few studs wider so the NXT are covered by the black panels too. I suppose the axles are supported to through the inside of the train? Quote
dr_spock Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Cool. Do you have NXT making the choo choo train sounds? Maybe have some touch sensors for the bell and horn sounds for the kids to play with. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 (edited) The floor. Ok. Edited August 8, 2013 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
Burf2000 Posted August 9, 2013 Author Posted August 9, 2013 lol, it runs on track not floor! Not a bad idea for sound effects etc however the NXT is pretty quiet, the EV3 is louder so I may add one of them to it. Once I have enough track, I will run it at work. Not a bad idea covering the boiler, should I make it look more train like? Quote
