September 3, 201311 yr After building a counter module by Legogbc i don't think that you need to do anything special to make it work for these beads. The only thing i have done is to put the 20T gear on the motor axle instead of the 8T gear to speed it up since i use rechargeable batteries and i thought it was a bit slow. That is the point of these beads, they work just as well as official balls. At least for testing. At an event maybe only official balls should be used, but i have never been to one and don't know when i will so i'll worry about that when the time comes.

Speeding the GBC counter over 1bps (the GBC standard) will cause the counter to be inaccurate. The module comes with the gearing for ~1.03 bps which works perfectly (100% accuracy). I'm guessing that if you speed it up more than 1.1 it won't be accurate. Edited September 3, 201311 yr by LegoGBC
September 3, 201311 yr But it seemed to be much slower than what i saw in the video hence why i changed the gearing. I'll test it when i have the time.

September 3, 201311 yr Yes but as i said my run on rechargeable batteries that put out 7.2 volts while the one in the video most likely runs on 9V. Hence the difference in speed. Hopefully i'll finish my sorting system by tomorrow and then i will make sure to put a phone there and test the app, and should i see a problem i will change it back.
September 5, 201311 yr Those balls that you bought can also be used in events. At NorteBrick 2013, in Spain, we had like 200 GBC balls and other 500 beads and we used both for the GBC modules. They worked as well as the "known ones". You can see it in this video:
September 7, 201311 yr Beads work good, my balls are from a Chinese checkers game. I hope to get some real GBC balls before I finish my next loop.
