I've got some ideas.

Who else would be interested in playing a CMF Mafia Series 2 (see what I did there? Corny joke?)

Yeah, I'd be up for it! There's some pretty good potential for having roles relate to actual minifigures.

Great job Trumpetking, I really had a good time. The presentation and story was good, the only thing I would change is to give the scum alibi CMF. The need for them to attempt to guess at a CMF that the town didn't have I think was somewhat unfair. Other than that, the town did a good job of coming together, even if we were slightly paranoid. Purpearl, you did an excellent job nailing down those suspects.

Thanks!

About the alibi CMF's, I see where you're coming from, but I personally disagree, as that would be giving the scum a bit of an unfair advantage, seeing how the alter egos effect night actions. Remember that this concept is from Hinckley's Steampunk Mafia, and if I recall correctly, the scum didn't get alibi people to claim. Scum just needed to take chances, and if they claimed one already taken then that's their own fault, but that's just me.

Tammo's claim on Day 2 wasn't even possible, by the way. I don't even have the Forestman.

Then again, Steampunk was a bit different mechanic-wise.

I wish I'd been able to finish, but I am proud of my co-win with Zakura. (Also, finally got my revenge on Tammo for Jedi Temple. we're even now. )I am so glad to have Internet again after that terrible week (mum's Alzheimer's is worsening  ) and I'm glad that esurient and mostlytechnic were able to pull off the win for me. WBD, too, even though I was suspicious of him to begin with. I'd love to play in (and finish  ) a Series 2 game.

Day Notes are up, but there's some technical difficulties with the thread so if a mod could message me on how to fix it (or if they could do it themselves), that would be great.

EDIT: Fixed!

Mostlytechnic asks everybody in private for their CMF identities, which one person (who??) says that breaks rule number 5. It doesn't, so mostlytechnic continues. If I were playing as town that would have made me thought he was a Godfather, though. Mostlytechnic, be careful, brave trooper!

:wall: :wall: :wall: :wall: Fred tells mostlytechnic he's an alien. WHYYYYYYYYY?!!! That's even closer to a monster than the Gangster is (who was part of the scum for ironic/comedic effect)!!! But why claim Alien! There were so many more possibilities fo CMF's that you could've claimed, and if you chose one that was already taken, at least you would've called a townie one! :ugh: The scum need a serious miracle right now. Mostlytechnic also says there's one that looks like an SK. Hey there, there aren't SK's this game. :hmpf: The rules say so. :wall: Anyways, it took me a while, but I think he's talking about PsyKater's Butcher role.

For the record, yes, I meant the butcher made me think SK. It started as something I said as a joke in our PM discussions, but then I said it in thread too and didn't mean anything by it. I knew there was no SK and tried to be clear about that, but apparently I even had the host thinking I was messed up!

Just curious, what would anyone else have done in Kristel's place? How do you defend yourself as scum (or legitimately if you really ARE vanilla town) when being vaguely accused like that? I know the thinking of the town block was that it didn't matter - we figured there was only 1-2 scum left, so we were willing to risk killing off a town. At that point the lynch was just another investigation method, not really any different than investigator to us.

And I was willing to take risks - asking for the CMF info, being a spokesman for PRs, etc - since I was vanilla townie.

I think it was Adam that challenged my CMF question as a rule violation. I can see where he was coming from - since it was using private info from the role PMs - but I was strictly asking for facts. Turned out it worked great since FDY went alien on us! And he actually did tell me alien avenger, not just alien. It was such as scummy fig that I assumed he wasn't lying and didn't realize the implications of his CMF identity :)

Yay, we did it! :sweet: I haven't won a Mafia game in about a year. Thanks for hosting Trumpet, it's cool that you now got to host a game yourself! And I really liked having actual Minifigures as our alter egos.

Captain Nemo, sorry I was on your back so much. I think once I told myself you could be scum on Day 1 I couldn't really erase the thought from my head. That's something I should work on I think. Also, I had a feeling I should have protected LegoDad night 2, but I wasn't 100 percent sure on the whole investigator claim so I didn't want to take the risk. I protected him Night 1 if that counts.

Oh, and if the scum killed Zakura on Night 3 it wouldn't have worked. I protected him that night.

Finally, A victory. Even though I didn't survive, so it's a bit bittersweet. DarthPotato, that was my first question on the deadboard. "How the hell was I not protected?" I had a lot of fun being involved in a town block that actually had good information and was so looking forward to taking down scum, especially after we lynched Tammo. Congrats to the team for taking them out, and looking forward to the next game.

I was kind of surprised as the town block decided to chomp the bee instead of me...

I thought it was WBD, but he might have just said it would cheapen the victory, not that it was a rule violation.

Waterbrick Down blocked you on Night 3 and scum had a kill, so we figured you can't be the scum killer. :classic: It was also mentioned that Kristel subtly defended Endgame and Fred Daniel Yam over Purpearljellyblob's list. That's why we have decided to go with her instead. :classic:

I brought up the potential rule violation and felt that it in some way would cheapen the victory, the scum shouldn't be forced to make up lies based on information they aren't given in my opinion. It's somewhat like giving every townie a password in their Role PM that only other townies have. The game isn't won by deduction or investigations, it's won by a list of who knows the password and who doesn't. When there's no majority for the scum to hide in, i.e. town (in terms of allegiance) or vanilla (in terms of role) then it just becomes a process of having everybody claim and voting off one of the two people who's claims match. :sceptic:

To me, it seemed no different than (hypothetically) receiving messages from two people claiming to be the protector or vig or whatever. The next step is to find out which one is scum. But asking for CMF avatars just made the process a little more proactive than reactive.

And the CMF avatar is hardly a password that the scum don't know - all a scum needed to do was to choose a "townie-type" CMF avatar and hope is wasn't actually in play.

That's my point though, they shouldn't have to "hope" that a certain avatar isn't in play. Two people claiming to be a protector or a vig is fine, but a when a scum claims vanilla they're able to hide in a larger group that. There is no "vanilla" claim a scum can safely make when it comes to CMF's.

Hooray, we won! I mean, I didn't live to see it, but still, woohoo!

This was a rather nice cooldown after the insanity of Silver City. Sometimes it's just good to get back to basics.

Great story and a very clever twist ending, but I would argue that making the scum all villain-y minifigs was a bit... obvious. I can understand if that was how it had to work story-wise, but you might have considered making the minifigs on the scum side less obviously evil or slipping some "bad" minifigs into the town roster as red herrings. Make the blocker a S1 Caveman or the Godfather a S10 Sad Clown. Make the Doctor a Mr. Good and Evil or something. Mix it up. (I suppose you did make the mafia lord in this one a Painter, but that's an NPC, so it doesn't count.)

That's my only complaint. Great job otherwise.
