Faefrost Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 How come there's no news at all on the Arctic Icebreaker? That's the one I'm holding out for but it hasn't even been given a price like the rest of the line. The description sounds cool & the piece count is double that of the Coastguard ship from last year so am hoping it will be a decent ship filled with compartments (it mentions bunks, lab & helicopter so hopefully a helipad). I know its likely to be an exclusive but does that mean it won't this be at the toy fair? The set had to be cancelled when the ship sailed south to measure melting ice, got stuck in the worst arctic ice in centuries and the crew was devoured by rabid carnivorous penguins. Maybe the crystals are some sort of ice samples being used for research... :) I keep hoping that the Arctic sub theme is a fakeout, and it's actually the secret continuation of Alien Conquest. Quote
Piranha Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 The base camp looks great, I will have to get it seeing as it has huskies, a polar bear, a ice crawler (?) and a nice workstation. Maybe the crystals are some sort of ice samples being used for research... :) I am going with fossils (like the previous theme) or meteorites. Quote
LukeWarmTea Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 The city train from lego city. http://m.flickr.com/...08/12154694885/ From lego mexico leaks Aww crap. I've managed to stay away from trains so far (one can only buy into so many themes) but this one looks like it'll be our first, and probably not last! Damn you 2014 - you'll bankrupt me! Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 AWESOME cargo train and accessories with it too......oh, I can't wait for the next two toy fairs to see even more of all three rail sets. I like the little truck with a fuel/chemical tank on the back of it......I could use one in NM ! Quote
scottwb2010 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) Thanks Just2good for posting the prelim image of the Artic Base Camp. I quite like the Artic theme. Part of the building looks as though its derived from a train carriage. Any looks good, plus there are 8 minifigures! Edited January 27, 2014 by scottwb2010 Quote

I know its likely to be an exclusive but does that mean it won't this be at the toy fair? Probably because it's either a store exclusive or D2C set. We usually only get pics of those a month or so in advance, and they rarely get shown off at Toy Fair. Quote
Apollo Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) Thank you to those who have contributed photos of this revived Polar theme... The original 2000 Arctic theme is very sentimental to me from childhood, and I am glad TLG is taking steps in slightly distinguishing the designs of the sets from standard City sub-themes, although I am slightly disappointed in the redundant cockpit used for the heli-crane. I am very much looking forward to this "Ice-Breaker" set which we have yet to see images of! Edited January 27, 2014 by Apollo Quote
Lego Spy Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Well, same as in the Ultra Agents 2014 thread, 'Lego Leaks Mexico' has begun removing their videos. Quote
scottwb2010 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 Well we might start getting some "official" pictures later this week, with the German Toy fair starting on Wednesday. Quote
Skalldyr Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 So apparently the german website 1000steine.de is reporting that LEGO will not allow pictures to be taken at the Nürnberg Toy Fair. But LEGO will release pictures on their german facebooksite: https://www.facebook.com/LEGOGermany Source (German Language) Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 (edited) The only photos at the German toy fair are taken by the toy fair themselves, that's why I signed up last year for their newsletters, etc., to get any low down on the fair. Edited January 28, 2014 by lightningtiger Quote
craiggrannell Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Curious definition of City these days, unless the city has moved to the Antarctic. Nice-looking set though. Quote

I too question the reason behind heading to the polar regions of Legoworld.......mining and forestry also farming is fine because forests do grow near large towns, they can also have gold mines in their hills and farms on their outskirts. But Arctic or even Space in the city range is just too off-topic.......perhaps the Arctic ship leaving port is okay. I feel Lego city designers need to take geography lessons to learn what really makes a city, town or village tick. Quote

Antarctic, no, arctic yes. There are also no polar bears in the Antarctic. Quote

I think its one of the few ways that have worked out how to show a modern "science" sub theme in City, rather than making it science vs monsters etc. and still let it have typica City play mechanisms. Vehicles, helicopters, bases, ships, etc. Quote
Legoman123 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 What do you guys think we are going to get in Arctic Outpost set? Quote
green dewback Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Does the 100 piececount ice crawler have tracks or wheels ? In the leaked photo it showed a front wheel hub. I have a thing for these small tracked CITY vehicle. Quote
Cwetqo Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Its just small orange truck with rubber tracks and three large pairs of wheels (like on last batcave or temple of crystal scull). Superstructure is similar to road maitenance truck. I like tracked vehicle from outpost set much more (they call it "ratrak" here). Quote
andythenorth Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 (edited) Where are arctic police and fire? Oops, struck through, worried I'd get a warning for that. The arctic stuff looks pretty good. The orange is a bit meh, feels like repeating coastguard, but I guess it's bright and eyecatching. Personally I'm hoping for arctic post office and arctic postman-on-a-bike. lightningtiger Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Thanks 'legomilk' for sharing........OMG ! I want all three sets......especially the train station......note the Lego display in the shop ! The passenger train looks better than the 2006 model and it comes with the train crossing.......fair enough usually train crossings are near train stations anyway. Now the beautiful freight train, perfect in that blue and them some big drums of cable....could lean to something else in the future maybe ? The little green truck is a totally I want to make more than one of......so handy to have in your town ! Quote
just2good Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Sweet find 'legomilk'! The Passenger Train looks lovely up close. Quote
