TheLazyChicken Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 New polybag Arctic set! Snip Thanks to 'TheRedGuy' for finding this site. Wow, that is a polybag? It looks more like a set! I probably have to get it! Quote
just2good Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Already seen on the flickr of Eiker86: Funny, I dont remember polybags being shown with sets at toy fairs, but then, I dont pay that much attention. Well, that wasn't a Toy Fair. It was Brick World I believe. Quote
HomerJSimpson Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Already seen on the flickr of Eiker86: Funny, I dont remember polybags being shown with sets at toy fairs, but then, I dont pay that much attention. The picture on Flickr is not high-res like this one Quote
Hrafnblod Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Consider me impressed with that little plane, looks pretty substantial for a polybag. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 That ultralight plane doesn't appear to be up to minifig OH&S regulations.....not much room either side of the pilot in case he/she slides to one side of the craft....at least in the small copters there is a bubble cockpit.....sometimes ? Still for a poly bag, nice selection of parts........I wonder if the city design team have been watching too much A&E, Discovery or Nat Geo Channel eh ? Quote
Maniac4Legos Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 New polybag for 2014: http://www.ebay.com/...=item417b071799 I liked this year's Police Helicopter Polybag much better. Wow Justin, how come I didn't see this till now? :0Here's one courtesy of ThePolybagCollector, Arctic Polybag: Thoughts: This reminds me of the Coast Guard Seaplane polybag, only that it has a thinner mid-structure. I'd like to assume the front piece is a printed piece, since polybags don't contain stickers. The new ski pieces are excellent to get in this set, and I was already happy with them in any set, especially the snowmobile. The back is a lazy build, and a fragile one since it's held by plates without reinforcements. The middle has a good build, I just hope the whole thing doesn't continuously break during play. Lots of great piece in this set Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 I would say that logo on the nose of the ultralight is a sticker.....judging the fact that there are two of the same 2x2 slope pieces in orange on the model. Quote
SnapLock Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Im really looking forward to the Arctic sets. So i can re-enact the 1980's movie "The Thing" in a brick film Quote
Lyichir Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 I would say that logo on the nose of the ultralight is a sticker.....judging the fact that there are two of the same 2x2 slope pieces in orange on the model. I'd say it's not, since that same decoration shows up on the same part in other sets, and doesn't seem to be a sticker on those either. Seems likely to be printed. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I'd say it's not, since that same decoration shows up on the same part in other sets, and doesn't seem to be a sticker on those either. Seems likely to be printed. Well, if that's the case......it will be a useless part for me. Quote
ShrikeArghast Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) I, for one, am pretty stoked over one set in particular: 60062, the Icebreaker. Proportionally, it looks like it's going to be one the best sized small ships they've ever released. The bridge looks modern, the funnel is full sized (wow, a true funnel -- have they ever done that?), the helicopter landing pad is located astern (rather than on the foredeck -- one of my pet peeves with 60014). Most promising of all, it looks like it might feature an interior for the lower decks -- something they've never seriously attempted on that hull. Sorry that I'm so giddy over the silly thing, but it's one of the best proportioned ships we've seen in quite a while. Edited February 25, 2014 by ShrikeArghast Quote
jonwil Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Official release date is August but they may appear earlier than that depending on the country and the store. Quote
ShrikeArghast Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) Official release date is August but they may appear earlier than that depending on the country and the store. Thank you. This is the first Lego set in a long time that I want to buy more than one of. I think it might look excellent built on the 60014's white hull. If you did that, you'd likely end up with something that looked vaguely like this. Ironically, the real thing is docked barely thirty miles north of me, awaiting an uncertain fate. Here's a brief for those interested in a closer look. What a survivor she is! Edited February 25, 2014 by ShrikeArghast Quote
Rick Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 Because I, for one, am pretty stoked over one set in particular: 60062, the Icebreaker. I've merged your topic with the 2014 City discussion thread. Quote
TheBrickPal Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Arctic... so cool (no pun intended)! I love the cute little huskies, and the minifigures don't look half bad. Out of all the sets, I like the Arctic Base the most. I might actually buy City sets for once. Quote
jonwil Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 With that police helicopter polybag we are getting no less than 4(!) police helicopters this year plus the helicopters in Arctic. You have to go back as far as 1999 or so to find a year when LEGO didn't release some sort of fire, police or rescue/medical helicopter. But hey, that's a good thing as these helicopters (and the sets they come in) generally look cool and have cool parts :) Quote
Dat Lego Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Decided to check out EB again after a long hiatus, naturally I went for the 2014 set rumours (especially the City sets). Nothing much to say on the Arctic sets because I probably wouldn't be buying them. But that high speed passenger train.. Must, resist.. While I'm dissapponted that it uses those big single fabricated pieces for the nose (unlike the Horizon Express), I love the details. The set includes a boarding platform and a level crossing, really useful for my table city. Like it that TLG decided to include the level crossing together with the set, unlike 2010 when the level crossing was a separate set. Quote
lifeinplastic Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I would disagree about the Horizon Express front as I thought that looked far too messy. Sometimes specialist parts are the answer in my opinion, not always but in this case I feel it looks a lot better. Quote
Legoman123 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 I really can't wait to see some more pictures of the Icebreaker ship. I could potentially be the best set of this summer wave. Quote
Dat Lego Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I would disagree about the Horizon Express front as I thought that looked far too messy. Sometimes specialist parts are the answer in my opinion, not always but in this case I feel it looks a lot better. In my opinion the Horizon Express front is great. For trains I prefer the noses to be brick-built, like the Horizon Express and the passenger train from 2010. I prefer those single large fabricated pieces used as aircraft noses instead... Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Neat find 'TLC', I checked the Lego instructions page and found it.....huge file though over 27MB ? (heck, normal sets are usually only 10MB) Quote
Super Goblin Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Yeah that bank is in the latest catalog. Quote
Dorayaki Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 It is creative, but alittle weird as an indiivdual. I might imagine a larger update for ATMs. Quote
