Yair, I do think Lego have screwed this up, what with all these reissues of sets from a few years ago. It's pretty disgusting, and shows that Lego is a shadow of its former self. For example, look at the innovation we got in the 80s and early 90s:

1985 Shovel Truck: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=6603-1

1988 Tractor: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=6504-1

1990 Mini Loader: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=1633-1

You just don't see that kind of innovation any more. Now Lego just keep expecting us to buy the same old sets, with only minor colour differences.

For those who have read past the trolling, the Tow Truck is a nice echo of http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=1572-1

Remember Lego is a toy company. Not a maker of collectables. They remake certain types of popular sets because their primary customer base ages out and they want to have a similar experience on the store shelves for the next batch.

Did anyone notice the small plane in the hanger? Is that a new set?

I am also in agreement about the sets. The camper looks like the last camper as well as the jeep which looks like the one from the horse trailer set. The standout sets for me are the car transporter and the repair truck. In fact I rather like the blue colour of the truck.

I still wonder about that really long road base plate though.

It is just two straight road plates, you see the join near the windshield of the orange truck.

I think most of the modern trucks and vehicles over the last few years have been a lot better than previous examples. True that they are sometimes, even most of the time releasing things that have come before, but some of those old four stud wide sets do not have the same level of details and whilst we may have enjoyed them as kids, I now want something a bit better. I would prefer they built them seven studs wide to get two min-figures side by side in the cab, but they are still a lot better than they used ti be. I say that without knocking the past, they were great at the time, just not as great as they are now.

That Octan car caught my attention. It looks very familiar. I'm entirely open to the possibility that this is a coincidence, but... :)

It's great to see these sets. I also think it's okay that they remake variations on previous sets - not all of us bought every set released four years ago.

I'm particularly looking forward to the light truck and the Le Mans car.

Via Brickset:

the last page of the renewed 60020 booklet shows some 2014 sets (on the top right corner, everyone's fav topic: the airport firetruck)

now is it me or the airport fire truck is lighting up ????? no way if the lighting box its back from the 90's , if this is the case this set would be top favorite .

Could just be effects like the air shooting behind the monster truck, although if it did it I agree it'd be quite a nice feature.

Wow, that's very similar.

Finally, a police station that isn't on a 32x32 plate!

The 2012 Forest Police Station and 2005 version weren't; only the 2008 and 2011 versions were. So, only half were. It's not like it was a constant problem.

Well, I'm talking the usual in-the-city police stations we get. They're all on the big square plates.

Yair, so son #1 (3-and-a-half) just saw the police sets image on my screen, and immediately said "we need all of those". He doesn't need any of them - he has Lego City coming out of his ears - but he certainly wants them.

I asked him, if he could only have one, which one it would be. He said the big helicopter. We already have entire fleets of fire, police and coastguard choppers, but nvm. Lego know their audience. Not their whiney obsessive AFOL weirdo audience of course. The actual kids who like play and toys, not grown men losing their stuff over which construction toys they get to buy this season. So anyway, yeah, umm we'll probably get the helicopter, maybe the police station too.
