I am kind of dissapointed. I like the Police Station Design, but the different Middle Colour-Scheme kind of ruins the Station design for me. The rest of the sets look very similar to the 2011 ones too, which is dissapointing. However, I am noticing printed CMF Police Hats!

Boy those inmates sure do get a nice view of the city. I kind of like the simplicity of the design and the extra blue on the side of the police station is nice. I'm lacking a police station at the

moment(was holding out for a modular) but I might pick this one up because I enjoy the new cop hats.

I love the Le Mans car! Not understanding the hate..

Not their whiney obsessive AFOL weirdo audience of course, not grown men losing their stuff over which construction toys they get to buy this season.

That would be everyone here then.

That police helicopter sure looks ugly compared to the one out now. I'm not sure even what type of aircraft they were modeling it after. The whole Blue/Black/White Police colors scheme I'm not a fan of either.

I like the updated police theme mostly for some special bricks. The blue window/door frames look remind me of some older sets, and it's nice to see them back. Also, the robber's hideout has some dark red masonry bricks - hard to see though. That's definitely the highlight of the set for me.

The new police helicopter looks just like the recent fire one in design just a blue and white colour. All the other sets dont really interest me as they look like sets we got before. The police station, however, reminds me of the old police stations we got in the 80`s and 90`s. What turns me off about it is the jail cells stacked like a tower.

i would have liked to have seen more of a hospital set or an update on the older one..why another police station? new construction sets would be nice to...airport truck is a forsure buy...

I can see how people are disappointed that we get police sets again, but it's hardly a surprise... when it comes to the other sets, though, I think they look spectacular. The design of LEGO City vehicles is ever improving, and those trucks look very promising. The big one in the middle of the picture reminds me of the tow truck from the classic Big-Rig Truck Stop, set 6393, that we sadly didn't get in Europe. I always wanted that as a kid. And the other ones... well, I like the Le Mans racer - hardly surprising, as I've built something similar myself - and the SUV, although similar to the one pulling the horse trailer from a couple of years ago, looks very nice. The camper is also nice. And the car transporter? It was a matter of time before they had to try something like that, and I like it. As a car builder, and a fan of the current style of City vehicles, I'm excited about the upcoming sets.

Yair, I do think Lego have screwed this up, what with all these reissues of sets from a few years ago. It's pretty disgusting, and shows that Lego is a shadow of its former self. For example, look at the innovation we got in the 80s and early 90s:

1985 Shovel Truck: http://www.brickset....ail/?Set=6603-1

1988 Tractor: http://www.brickset....ail/?Set=6504-1

1990 Mini Loader: http://www.brickset....ail/?Set=1633-1

You just don't see that kind of innovation any more. Now Lego just keep expecting us to buy the same old sets, with only minor colour differences.

Got to say that this looks great! I'd thought I'd hate them, but I look at them now and I think, with the exception of the Police Station and the Hideout, I'm going to buy them all, something I haven't said to myself for City in years. Why all the hate for the RV? I think its great to have campers and RV's, we've been complaining for years how all we get is Fire this and Police that, and when, with the exclusion of the Fire truck for an Airport, this years "Great vehicles" are Fire/Police free, we start complaining that we're getting two many rehashes? It may not seem it, but next year is 2014. The last full on Camper (ie not attached to a car ) was in 2009. That's 5-6 years, but alas, everyone's entitled to there own opinion. As for the cops, well, at least it looks interesting, the black and white colour scheme reminds me of the Classic town Police sets, and that jeep looks pretty good. The Helicopter reminds me in some way of one belonging to a world security organisation in an old 60s Kids/adults supermarionation show (a sophisticated puppet show) called Captain Scarlet, sans huge pylons and pontoons coming of the bottom. Overall however, for me at least, I had little to no expectations as I, in my mind, had written of this wave, but Lego has once again shocked me with some great stuff.

Lego know their audience. Not their whiney obsessive AFOL weirdo audience of course. The actual kids who like play and toys, not grown men losing their stuff over which construction toys they get to buy this season.

I think you might be on the wrong website???

Here's the thing about Eurobricks that you might be missing. We're fans (supposedly ADULT fans). We're looking at upcoming Lego sets from the perspective of: "Do I like this set? Will this set fit into my existing collection?"NOT, "Will kids like this set? Is Lego accurately addressing their core audience?"

Quite simply, we don't care if Lego is addressing their core audience. I'm 40. I'm not a 3 1/2 year-old like your son. I've been collecting Lego Town/City for 35 years. I want to see something NEW out of Lego. I understand WHY they rehash the same things over and over. Doesn't mean I have to like it, or buy it. EB provides a forum for people to discuss these sorts of things. That's why we're here.

Does that make us "whiney, obsessive, AFOLs," as you called us. I dunno, maybe. But "whiney" doesn't automatically mean "opinions different than yours." I've seen lots of articulate explanations for why people like or don't like these sets. That's not "whining." That's "discussion." Again, that's why we're here, to discuss this stuff.

Sorry for derailing the thread. Just felt like that needed to get explained.

For those who have read past the trolling, the Tow Truck is a nice echo of http://www.brickset....ail/?Set=1572-1

You do know that Lego make toys for kids right?

Every year a new generation of kids reach the age where they can start to play with Lego sets and since city is one of the most evergreen and popular themes there will again and again over the years be repeat of former sets in more or less same versions... There is a limit to how many times you can make totally different police car sets just to name an example...

I found it better, less playmobil-like, as it does not seem to use a big single-part for the nose

I am liking the new Police sets just wish we had a cleaner image to analyse. Beats the standard black and white colour theme. My only disappointment is the Police HQ truck as I just picked up most of the Police sets last year from the 2011 line. The helicopter looks really cool to me. It is a much meatier copter  Personally I really liked the Chinook helicopter from the Forest Police line. All you need is a Gatling gun inside!

I will likely still buy the new line of sets anyway. I wasn't into Town as a kid and can't seem to get enough of this stuff. Nor can I really complain either. In the end I will likely just build the type of police station I want. However the new station has an interesting take on it. One can always expand on the Robber's hideout as well. What I'd really love to do is recreate such a scene from this image.

Oh yes, another 4X4! Another set to put my hands on next year... Thanks for the info jfbat!

Did anyone notice the small plane in the hanger? Is that a new set?

I think it's an MOC of Lego 3178 Seaplane.

Wow those police sets are horrible.

However I give LEGO credit for trying something different with the police station. However it doesn't look like it has garage does and that's my favorite part of the stations in recent years.

I think you might be on the wrong website???

Granted, but equally might have you picked the wrong toy brand to collect?

Anyway, maybe we can agree that "don't feed the troll" remains good advice? :sweet:

Check the links I posted.

I think you might be on the wrong website??? [ . . . ]

I thought it showed a pretty healthy sense of perspective (and was funny too). If someone is a fan of LEGO City, they should probably know that there's going to be a steady amount of police stations and affiliated vehicles, and the same for fire departments. Expecting anything else is just gearing one's self up for perpetual disappointment. If one knows that police and fire are going to be perennial sets, and one knows why, getting upset about it doesn't seem to make an enjoyable hobby. There's plenty to discuss, but comments like "bah, another police station? They already released one in 1987" doesn't make good discussion - not that that's your stance, but I'm pretty sure that's what andythenorth was driving at.

On the topic of being an obsessive weirdo, does anybody have a sense of the elements used in the light truck's articulated arm? I assume it's some sort of fork-and-stub connection, but can't put my finger on it. It looks too small to be a 1x brick with fork ends.

Yep. We might be pretty "serious" about this stuff, and opinionated at that, but in the end it's mostly kids that decide what sets get bought. And apparently they want police and fire department. So Lego makes these.

Luckily enough there's enough other stuff to go round too and if that's not enough there's that old saying used in Dutch ads from years ago: "you can make everything with Lego"... ;)
