Looks like we're not getting any LEGO City Undercover characters in this wave. Oh well. There may be some in the summer sets.

At any rate, the new police station actually looks good, as do the new police officer uniforms. I do agree that the new helicopter looks unappealing, though, especially when compared to other recent police helicopters. As for the great vehicles, I really like the car transporter and logging truck, along with the airport fire truck. The camper looks great as well, even though it looks exactly like the one from 2009. I'll certainly be buying more of these sets than I was originally anticipating. Now if I only had the room to display them...

The new sets look amazing. I'm not super thrilled about the monster truck as its almost a carbon copy of the truck in 60027.

I think the camper looks more like those here in the US.

The log truck and the car hauler are my favs.

Cant wait to see a HR pic of the airport truck.

I have to agree with quite a heap off EB members... LEGO just keeps re-using old themes for the city/town line-up.

I was quite surprised to see the forest police/fire-men sets, but any more variation to these teams can't be brought every year.

The ZOO theme is something that surely would appeal to a lot of kids, parents and AFOLs.. Just like the farm-theme did a few years back.

I know and it's absolutely disgusting. Where is the imagination? I mean, the 2014 themes are pretty much just the same as the 1979 line up. Police, fire, street maintenance, breakdown truck, a truck with a crane on, where's the imagination? This year's police station is basically just a repeat of this one, what am I supposed to do, buy another? And there were two police helicopters that year, I mean how many do I need? It's as if Lego have forgotten about their fans.

Another thing, I heard there will be new houses, but I hope they're not a repeat of this one, useless, there's simply no back to it, and it only uses a tiny baseplate, not like classic sets. I bought it anyway, and I really don't need another, but I really don't like the direction Lego took with that one, and frankly it makes me worried for the future of my collection.

Lego also should listen to my opinion on this year's Town Square. I mean I was so pumped when I heard about this set, it really got my juices going. But then when I saw the box in TrU, it's just a lame repeat of Main Street, which I already have in my collection. Absolutely gutted. I mean, Lego seem to have no freaking idea what my needs are or how to run a serious toy company.

But to be reasonable, I understand Lego want to sell to kids as well as AFOLs. But the thing that really has me angry now is this trend to dumbing down. You know what I mean. Large, easy to assemble pieces, everything really simple. You can build it just from the picture on the box, there's no detail and no complicated building methods. Basically today's models suck, compared with classics like Mini Loader, Rally Car and Motorbike, or my all-time favourite, Ambulance. That Rally Car and Motorbike is really something: it has SNOT, and NPU (look at the minifig legs on backwards - that's true innovation), and there's hardly a sticker to be seen.

The problem is almost certainly that kids today have no attention spans. I blame the current obsession with video games.

So in short I'm really disappointed by this year's line-up, but I'll probably grab them all anyway.

The Farm I think was a complete failure, it was the last theme I noticed for 50% at S@H. If it sold as well as Police / Fire it would have continued on.

All of us AFOL's wish that Lego would broaden their scope in city, but it's of course aimed at KFOL's......though I wonder which group of children have been asked what they would like to see produced by Lego ?

I feel the great vehicles range is losing the plot a little, wheel size and vehicle width have no direction.....it's more a flight of fancy of the design.....no guidelines except for price point.

Just look at the black/grey 4x4 with water craft on it's trailer vs. lighting truck (ute) and toss in the prime movers........that 4x4 as big as a prime mover and has bigger wheels......now that's a monster truck !

That plane hiding in the hanger isn't the sea plane.....you can not see studs going all the way across the wings......it would be either a set coming out later in the year or another flight of fancy MOC by one of Lego's city designers.

I will no doubt buy the police station to keep my collection complete (I have every City police station dating back to the World City police station except for the one with the light-up-cop and the non-light-up-cop variant of the same station).

Plus it looks like it has some useful bits in it.

After how good some of the helicopters from this year are (coast guard helicopter, the dark blue one in that robbers hideout), the one in 60046 looks crap.

Will need to see better pictures for final judgement on that big police truck, the smaller boat and the van.

 You win for best rant so far. And I agree, it's hard to beat the classic ambulance. I was hoping they'd bring back the evacuation team with the forest fire sets but, alas, the company has lost its way ...

They haven't lost their way, Lego are making sets that we can either modify or build totally different creations from. :sweet:

I find it odd that the electrician in the cherry picker on the lighting truck is holding mother of all tools to fix a light fixture.......the classic spanner/screwdriver tool.....better if it came with the new tool wheel (like it's in the monster truck/F1 transporter sets)....a smaller screwdriver is called for actually.....be nice if it came with a pair of linesman pliers.

I think we should be gratefull to Lego because they do have sets for AFOLS (Modular line). I dislike it when people say: Again a City police office??? Be a real AFOL and build your own one. One you like and leave the new police theme 2014 on the shelves for the kids they are meant for.. Just pick those sets you like.. It is simple, kids just like firetrucks, police and so one, i know as i have two little sons. Is helps no-one to tell everyone you do not like the new police sets....Modify it, create something you like..use Lego as it is meant to be.. create things!

So, what i'm trying to say is, buy only the sets you like and leave the new repeating police-stations and fire-stations to the kids!

But please, stop with complainting about sets being repeated.. our whole world is repeating.. every single day.....every 24 hours.....

Let's just accept that City sets are not primarily targeted at AFOLs (although I think TLG is doing a good job at making their City vehicles more and more attractive to AFOLs in recent year) and get back to discussing the sets, if there's anything left to discuss from these low resolution images. :look:

That Octan car caught my attention. It looks very familiar. I'm entirely open to the possibility that this is a coincidence, but... :)

It looks more like a Le Mans race car to me. I think that's the look they were going for.

I'm loving the camper van Looks exactly like a Peugeot Camper. I hope that dude in the messy apron and olive jacket comes with that set. He looks ace.

The 4x4 looks great, but a bit bland in the old colour department. It would have been nice to have it in tan or red.

Liking the Car Carrier / Transporter. Nice to see them keeping the woodland theme going with the Logging Truck. It's a shame they didn't continue the fire and police sets along the woodland line. I loved those light orange fire uniforms. They could have branched into mountain rescue with a big yellow Sea King rescue chopper.

I love the colour scheme on the Tow Truck but it's a bit long. I think it'd look cool MOCed to a short wheel base, two axle lorry.

The Airport Fire Truck is very cool but not really something I'd go for. I don't do airports. Looks very much like the ones you get in British and European airports. I like that.

I'm loving that little green get-away van in the Police Helicopter set. The chopper it's self looks a bit like a Sea King.

I'm never all that fussed about Police lines, but constantly on the look out for a more British looking police torso to go with the helmets I'm collected from the current collectable minifig range. That fig is wearing a Victorian / Georgian uniform so isn't all that useful for a modern town. I need either a stab-vest torso, a black uniform with white shirt and tie or one with a high-vis yellow / lime jacket. Fingers crossed.

Anyone else think Lego needs to release a new wheel design? The balloon tires that came out around, what? 1992, ' 93? They look WAY too chunky on cars. They need something that is the same height but is much thinner in width, with a thinner tire allowing for a taller rim. Because at the moment you have cars and lorries with the same wheels, which just looks odd.

Anyone know when those sets will come out? Is there any chance that they are released january 2014 and might be available right before christmas this year?

Oh, there's a huge chance! The deal with these sets is that they always tend to appear in stores before Christmas, heck, even in late November. Though it's not confirmed that this will happen, it's usually what happens.

If memory serves,me correct in some European countries in December.....I think Germany might be one of those, but I could be wrong.

hope we will see some train related confirmations soon! Again police stations... I don't like the police (well... might be just because I don't like in Germany so I always need to be careful with my speed ;))
