Another new police theme?!

These people are running out of ideas.

Nah, there are plenty of ideas (and TLG delves into one or two of them every summer), but none of them are ever as reliable in terms of sales as good ol' Fire and Police.

I'm quite happy with the Police sets. The vehicles look nice and fresh, the station has a remarkably unique metropolitan look to it, and we even get a female crook. The crooks' hideout is quite cool-looking, although it's a shame it seems to use Medium Nougat bricks rather than a new color like Dark Orange, Bright Red, or Dark Red. I don't exactly see the purpose of the ball-and-chain piece, to be honest. I think a BIONICLE ball joint on a 6M chain from the Ninjago sets works just fine for that purpose. But I guess it's a nice detail for the sets, new piece or not.

The Great Vehicles sets continue to live up to their name. The Race Car is very stylish and gives us those ever-useful new wheels in a new color (I wish more of the sets used those, to be honest). The Logging Truck is a novel concept for LEGO, and executed brilliantly. The Car Hauler is something LEGO City has lacked for a long time, and while its execution leaves a bit to be desired, it's still recognizable for what it is meant to be. The Camper and SUV, while not new subject matter for LEGO City, are still really nice. I just love the running boards on the SUV! Its wheels are a bit oversized though.

Does that truck use a light grey vehicle baseplate or is it dark grey? I think they might have finally made it in a new colour.

Edit: The leaked video showed a hideout that included a red hotrod pickuptruck and a smaller shack, 60048

So new blue trains coming? That train base part usually gets reused in multiple sets in similar colours.

No, not new. The rail is just these.

The log loader is great, and I love the front of the Mobile Police Unit. Bummed about the trailer being 8 wide though. Same with the Police Patrol truck being 8 wide. The front of the tow truck is disappointing and could have easily been done better, but I really like it otherwise. I like the camper as well, although the misaligned fender pieces are a bit odd. Prisoner transport looks good too.

I'll probably be buying the log loader, tow truck, prisoner transport, police patrol, and maybe the camper. I generally just buy the smaller sets, so I'll probably pass on the larger sets.

I am loving the new images that were posted of the 2014 sets. However the new Mobile Police Unit 60044 is bumming me out...why couldn't they go with a surveillance van or something that wasn't a total redo of 7288 from 2011? I really liking the gold rims on the motorcycle 60042. The prisoner transport is also nice. Could make use of it as another armoured truck in a pinch.

What's with the traffic/street light in 60054? I'm not sure why they combined them other than say price point...personally the light standard looks like an eyesore. I'd likely order a few pieces to separate them.

Aparently there is new train windows, and now a blue train base; someone also said in the summer there would be a blue train. It's a conspiracy!

No, not new. The rail is just these.

Eh, no I didn't mean the door rail.....I use those for shelves in my different store designs......the door itself, note the brown plate at right angles.....how is that mounted ?

Edit - the light of day shines though........1x2 black brackets......well anyone can make mistakes right ?

I don't know what it is, but I hate the police station. Some of the other Police sets are nice, but it's not a full buy for me.

The helicopter from the new set is similar to the police battle helicopter from LEGO Batman the video game.

These are some great vehicles.

Since I use the vehicles to populate my town of modulars and creator buildings, these CITY vehicles will be great additions.

I think there are some solid police sets. I won't be buying any because my layout doesn't need them. However, it's interesting to see some refreshes and improvements on classic ideas.

I would say so, since both crook hideout sets use the same coloured brick-bricks (as I like to call them ).

The good question is which of the sets we have seen will be exclusives in one's own country ? (We will all have to wait until early next year to find out.)

I'm glad that I'm not the only one that miss the red masory brick, we saw in the prelims.
